Chapter 82 Are You Rejecting Me?

Mandy pursed her lips and walked right up to him, falling into his arms.

Michael hesitated for a second, his arms kind of hovering before he finally wrapped them around her, giving her back a gentle pat.

"You should leave now," he told Joseph.

Joseph raised an eyebrow, shot Mandy a look, and then nodded. He turned and left, closing the door behind him, leaving the two of them alone in the office.

Only then did Mandy pull away from Michael, her eyes full of hurt. "Michael, something happened with Ms. Garcia's family, and she's blaming me. She even said she wouldn't let me off the hook. I didn't tell her to go after Ms. Williams, so why is she blaming me? I just don't get it."

"Going after Rachel?" Michael squinted, his brow furrowing. "What's going on?"

Mandy felt a wave of frustration. She'd said so much, yet he only cared about Rachel. But she didn't let it show. Tearfully, she wiped away a stray tear and said, "Yesterday, Ms. Garcia came to the hospital to see me and asked why I was admitted. I told her it was because I was attacked by Ms. Williams' suitor. Ms. Garcia then offered to help me get revenge on Ms. Williams. I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen. Now Ms. Garcia blames me, saying I dragged her and the Garcia family into this."

She looked deeply wronged and started crying again, her shoulders shaking.

Seeing her cry so pitifully, Michael felt a pang of heartache. He lifted her face and took out a tissue to wipe her tears. He comforted her, "Alright, stop crying."

"Michael, Ms. Garcia said she wouldn't let me off. What should I do? I'm so scared," Mandy looked at him with red eyes, her voice trembling.

Michael's lips tightened, a hint of coldness in his eyes. He reassured her, "Don't worry, I won't let her hurt you."

"I believe you, Michael," Mandy sniffled and nestled into his chest, looking helpless. But out of his sight, a barely noticeable smile curled her lips, and a glint of triumph flashed in her eyes. With the Smith family's protection, Chloe would have a hard time dealing with her. After all, the Smith family was powerful.

Michael wiped away the last tear from the corner of Mandy's eye with his thumb. He asked gently, "Not scared anymore?"

Mandy shook her head, her voice softening, "Not scared anymore. Michael, you're so good to me."

"You're my fiancée, of course, I have to be good to you. When we first met six years ago, I promised to protect you for life, remember?" Michael looked at her tenderly, his eyes softening with affection.

Mandy smiled through her tears and nodded, "I remember. I didn't think you would remember too."

"I won't forget. I remember everything about you," Michael gently touched her forehead, his touch lingering, a silent promise in his gesture.

Mandy's eyes flickered, and her smile became slightly awkward. "Actually, the past is the past. I've changed a lot, Michael. You should forget it."

"Forget it?" Michael frowned, clearly confused.

Mandy wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing him closer. She said sweetly, "Yeah, isn't it better to remember the current me?"

Looking at her expectant eyes, Michael softened. "Alright."

"Michael, you're so good!" Mandy stood on tiptoe and gave him a light kiss on the cheek, then her gaze fell on his lips as she slowly leaned in.

Michael didn't avoid it and lowered his head to respond, but just as their lips were about to touch, Rachel's face suddenly popped into his mind.

Michael abruptly pushed Mandy away.

Mandy was stunned, staring at him blankly with reddening eyes. "Michael, you pushed me away again?"

Realizing he had hurt her feelings, Michael looked down, feeling guilty. "Sorry, Mandy, this is the office."

"Are you rejecting me?" Mandy bit her lower lip, her voice shaking.

Michael looked at her, confused. "Why would you think so?"

"Isn't it true?" Tears started to well up in Mandy's eyes again. "Is it because I've been touched by another man that you pushed me away?"

"It's not like that," Michael's voice was strained.

"Then why did you push me away? Tell me!" Mandy looked at him sadly, her eyes pleading.

Michael rubbed his temples, not knowing how to answer.

Just then, David walked in with a clipboard. "Mr. Smith, all the board members are here. Are you going now?"

Michael felt a bit relieved by David's arrival. "I'll be there right away."

"Okay," David nodded and quietly closed the door.

Michael gently patted Mandy's shoulder. "Mandy, I have to go to the meeting. We'll talk later."

"Alright," Mandy reluctantly nodded, her fingers loosening their grip on his sleeve.

Only then did Michael leave with peace of mind.

Mandy watched his back, her fists gradually clenching. She thought, 'The third time, this is the third time he has rejected me.'

Mandy didn't understand what Michael was resisting. He kept saying he loved her but wouldn't get close to her, making her feel uneasy. She had to find an opportunity to be intimate with him to keep him by her side completely.

Meanwhile, on the way to the meeting room, Michael suddenly instructed David, who was following behind him. "Go to the finance department and get a month's bonus."

David looked puzzled, his eyebrows knitting together. Why give a bonus out of the blue?

Michael didn't explain and added, "Also, buy some supplements that help with sprains and send them to Rachel."

David understood; it was because of the elevator incident yesterday. He nodded. "Got it."

Michael said no more and walked into the meeting room, his mind already shifting to the business at hand.

David stayed outside, arranging the purchase of the supplements.

Soon, Rachel received a call from the receptionist. "Ms. Williams, someone has sent a lot of items. Should we send them to your office?"

Rachel had just seen off the bank manager and walked out of the reception room. She asked, "What items?"

"Not sure." The receptionist shrugged, her tone uncertain.

Rachel was silent for a moment, considering. "Alright, I'll come down right away."

After hanging up, Rachel put down her cell and, with the help of crutches, headed to the elevator, with Lily following closely behind.

Arriving at the front desk on the first floor, Rachel asked, "Where are the items?"

The receptionist brought out a large cardboard box, replying, "They're all here."

Rachel looked at the tightly sealed box on the desk, unable to see what was inside, and there was no sender information on the outside.

Lily gently shook the box and remarked, "Ms. Williams, it's quite heavy."

"Open it," Rachel instructed the receptionist, her curiosity piqued.

The receptionist fetched a small knife and opened the box, revealing an array of exquisite bottles and jars.

Lily picked up a bottle and examined it closely. She said, "Ms. Williams, these are internationally renowned health supplements, highly effective for bone recovery. Each bottle is worth tens of thousands of dollars. They've sent so many; it's very generous."

'Whoever bought so many high-end health supplements for Ms. Williams must be a devoted admirer,' Lily thought.

Hearing this, Rachel frowned slightly. "Pack it up again and seal it."

Lily was stunned. She asked curiously, "Ms. Williams, aren't you going to accept it?"
