Chapter 30

Thinking about Grace Brown, her eldest daughter who passed away way too soon, Charlotte's hand shook as she held the flowers, and she just couldn't hold back the tears.

Losing her eldest daughter was so painful that she poured all her love into her younger one. Every year on her eldest daughter's death anniversary, her heart would ache like crazy.

"Alright, don't cry," Ethan said, pulling his wife into his arms. "Today isn't just Grace's death anniversary; it's also Mandy's engagement day. If Grace knew her sister was getting engaged, she'd be happy for her."

Charlotte cried so hard her chest hurt, and she said through gritted teeth, "If it weren't for that bastard Henry, Grace wouldn't have died."

She choked up and couldn't speak anymore.

Ethan's eyes were filled with anger too. He said in a low voice, "The Williams Family is gone, only Rachel is left."

Six years ago, he had avenged his eldest daughter, driving Henry Williams to his death and destroying the Williams Family. Because Rachel married Michael, he couldn't go after her. He hadn't expected that six years later, Rachel would get shares in Skyline Corporation and become a major shareholder.

Ethan said, "Rachel only has Skyline Corporation; she has nothing else. I think it's easy to deal with her." Thinking of his deceased eldest daughter, he also felt heartache, and his hatred for the Williams Family deepened.

Charlotte hesitated, "Forget it, after all, she is Michael's ex-wife. If Michael finds out, it will be hard to explain to Mandy in the Smith Family."

Ethan said discontentedly, "Don't you know why Michael married Rachel? He doesn't care about Rachel at all; otherwise, he wouldn't have watched the Williams Family collapse and Skyline Corporation decline."

"Don't worry about it; I'll handle these things." Ethan changed the subject, "That crown was something Grace had her eye on when she was alive. When you go back, ask Mandy for it and keep it safe, so she doesn't give it away carelessly."

Charlotte nodded, looking sadly at the flowers in her hand.

Rachel planned to go to the office, handle a few urgent documents, and then go back to rest. As soon as she arrived at the office, Lily came over to inform her, "Ms. Williams, Mr. Clark from Wisdom-Tech Group is here, chatting with Mr. Davis in his office."

Rachel said coldly, "Alright, I'll go take a look."

Last Friday, while playing cards at Red Maple Lodge, George said he would send someone to Skyline Corporation the next day to sign the contract, but they didn't come. Rachel wasn't foolish; she knew he wanted to stall her, waiting for her to call Wisdom-Tech Group herself.

Fortunately, with Joseph's help, she found a better partner for Skyline Corporation.

Rachel knocked and entered John's office. She saw John chatting with George and greeted, "Mr. Clark, long time no see."

"Ms. Williams." George stood up and shook hands with Rachel, his attitude polite.

Seeing Rachel sit down and drink coffee without mentioning the cooperation, George couldn't help but speak first, "Ms. Williams, I apologize. My business was too busy a few days ago, and I couldn't come to your company to sign the contract. Today, I came personally to apologize."

As he spoke, he pushed the contract in front of Rachel, "Take a look, and if there are no issues, we can sign it."

John frowned and was about to say something. Rachel gave him a look to stop him and then said to George, "Mr. Clark, my secretary said that we couldn't reach your business phone before. Because the goods were urgent and couldn't be delayed, I found another factory to do it."

George thought Rachel was just trying to get a better deal and got a bit cocky. He shot back, "Ms. Williams, my company is the best in the country for overseas goods. You say you care about quality, but because of urgency, you went with a second-rate factory?"

Rachel smiled knowingly, "Besides your company, Wonderworks Technologies is also pretty famous for overseas goods."

George's eyes widened. "I heard Wonderworks Technologies' orders are booked until next year. Ms. Williams, did you really sign with them?"

That day, he had just given Michael some face and hadn't taken Rachel seriously. He hadn't expected Rachel to approach Wonderworks Technologies.

Rachel had just entered the business world and had no connections. How did she get to know the owner of Wonderworks Technologies? Could Michael be helping her?

Thinking of how Michael defended Rachel while playing bridge that day, it wasn't surprising that he would help her expand her network.

In just a few seconds, George saw the pros and cons clearly and firmly said to Rachel, "Ms. Williams, there were no additional orders from old customers; I lied to you. To be honest, Mr. Brown called me and asked me not to take orders from Skyline Corporation."

John mocked, "I was wondering why you would pass up money, Mr. Clark. So someone is targeting Skyline Corporation!"

"The Brown Family has a lot of cooperation with my company, so it's hard for me to mediate," George added. "But I still want to cooperate with Skyline Corporation; otherwise, I wouldn't risk offending Mr. Brown by coming here today."

Rachel needed connections now. Moreover, in the business world, there were no real enemies; as long as there were benefits, people would come together.

Rachel smiled, "Mr. Clark, I see your sincerity, but I've already signed a contract with Wonderworks Technologies. For future overseas orders, I'll prioritize you."

Hearing her words, George breathed a sigh of relief. After exchanging a few pleasantries with Rachel and John, he left.

As soon as George left, John asked Rachel, "I also tried to contact Wonderworks Technologies before but failed. How did you get in touch with the owner?"

"Joseph introduced us," Rachel replied. Then she told John about playing bridge at Red Maple Lodge and how Joseph later introduced her to Wonderworks Technologies.

John sighed, "If we had known Joseph had such connections, you should have taught Mr. Clark and the others a lesson while playing cards at Red Maple Lodge, so they would never dare to play again!"

Rachel smiled, "Mr. Clark and the others are quite good at playing cards."

Since marrying Michael, she hadn't touched bridge. Over time, except for John and a few others, people around her thought she couldn't play bridge.

The last time she played with George and the others was her first time playing bridge in six years.

"Don't be modest!" John shot back, "We grew up together; I know how good you are at bridge. Even your dad couldn't beat you, let alone others."

Because of John's words, Rachel thought of her father who committed suicide and felt a bit sad. She changed the subject, "Let's go, I'll treat you to dinner."

She had just stood up to put on her coat when her phone rang. She answered, "Hello?"

"Is this Miss Williams?" The woman's voice on the other end of the line was serious. "Your brother is at our police station. Please come over."
