Chapter 61 The Deed

"Of course!" Rachel grinned, glancing over at Mandy. "Miss Brown, I really owe you one. Without your help, I wouldn't have scored these benefits."

Mandy just pressed her lips together and stayed quiet, eyes down. Michael wrapped an arm around her waist and whispered, "Let's go."

"Mr. Smith, Miss Brown, take care. Hope to see you again in Summit Ridge District!" Rachel waved with a bright smile.

The two left, the air heavy and their steps slow and tense.

John shut the door behind them, came back in, and laughed. "Rachel, you really have a talent for this. Last time, you gave Michael a minor hit by taking the 'Azure Heart,' but this time, you really made them suffer. Seeing their gloomy faces almost made me burst out laughing."

Rachel picked up the water cup by the bed, sipped through the straw, and said casually, "They handed us the opportunity, so we had to take it."

"True enough." John chuckled, then looked at her seriously. "But Rachel, are we really just gonna let this go?"

Rachel nodded. "Yeah. We could send Mandy to prison, but it's not worth it. Michael's right; doing that would just escalate things between the Brown family and Skyline Corporation. They might get desperate and go all out against us."

Skyline Corporation was too weak to take on the Brown family right now. So, she wasn't about to take a hardline approach.

John got it and fiddled with his phone. "It's a pity, but getting so many benefits isn't bad, especially that piece of land. Ethan's gonna be furious when he finds out."

Rachel couldn't help but laugh. "I've heard Ethan plans to develop a luxury estate in Summit Ridge District to set a benchmark for the area. Now that we've taken his land, of course, he's heartbroken."

John spread his hands gleefully. "Ethan deserves it by having a daughter who specializes in causing trouble for him and Michael!"

Thinking back, it was true. Last time, Mandy falsely accused Rachel of hitting her, ruining Ethan's carefully planned recovery banquet and causing Michael to lose the Azure Heart. This time, Mandy caused Rachel to fall, resulting in Michael losing a commercial port and Ethan losing valuable land. Wasn't all this trouble caused by Mandy?

Thinking of this, Rachel clicked her tongue and suddenly felt a bit of sympathy for Ethan and Michael.

"Hey, Rachel," John whispered, leaning in close. "What are you planning to do with that piece of land?"

Rachel raised her hand and pushed his face away, keeping a straight face. "Build a factory. Skyline Corporation needs its own production base. We can't keep relying on partnerships with other companies."

She still remembered how George and the others treated her at Red Maple Lodge. She was done with being mistreated and didn't want to lower herself to seek cooperation anymore.

"Impressive, Rachel. Thinking ahead like that is awesome. I'll help you out," John said, patting her shoulder.

"Thanks," Rachel smiled faintly and, for once, didn't brush his hand away.

The next day, they flew back to Summit Ridge District. As soon as the plane landed, Rachel headed straight to Skyline Corporation to meet with Benjamin.

Benjamin sat across from her desk, looking surprised at the bandage on her head. "Ms. Williams, what happened?"

Rachel gently touched the wound on her head, a flash of coldness in her eyes quickly disappearing. She smiled, "I was set up."

"I see," Benjamin smiled faintly and didn't ask more.

Rachel took the file handed by Lily and asked politely, "Mr. Rivera, this is the acquisition contract for Blue Sky Ventures. Please check if any adjustments are needed."

She placed the contract on the desk and turned it toward Benjamin.

Benjamin flipped through it and, seeing the clause about not interfering with Blue Sky Ventures' internal management and retaining the company name, nodded in satisfaction. "No issues."

Rachel smiled in relief, picked up a pen, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to Benjamin. "Then please sign, Mr. Rivera. The finance department will transfer the funds to your account within half an hour."

Benjamin took the pen and signed his name. With that, Blue Sky Ventures officially became a subsidiary of Skyline Corporation.

Rachel closed the file and handed it to Lily. "Keep it safe."

"Yes, Ms. Williams," Lily replied, taking the file and leaving.

Rachel stood up and offered, "Mr. Rivera, it's getting late. How about I treat you to lunch?"

"No, I have other plans. Maybe next time," Benjamin waved his hand to decline.

Rachel didn't insist. After seeing Benjamin off, she returned to her office. At that moment, the internal phone rang.

Rachel let go of the mouse and picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Ms. Williams, someone from the Smith Corporation is here to deliver the land transfer agreement and deed. Would you like to see them?" Lily asked.

Rachel's lips curved into a slight smile. "Sure, why not? Who is it?"

She hadn't expected Michael to act so quickly; she had just returned, and the contract and deed were already being delivered.

Lily replied, "It's Mr. Smith's assistant, David."

Rachel said, "Please let him in."

After hanging up, Rachel stared at the office door. Soon, it opened, and Lily led David in.

David stood in front of Rachel's desk and greeted her politely, "Ms. Williams."

Rachel smiled and pointed to a chair. "Have a seat, David. Lily, get him a cup of coffee."

"Sure," Lily answered and quickly brought a cup of coffee.

After thanking her, David sat down and handed two documents to Rachel. "Ms. Williams, here is the transfer agreement for the commercial port, and another set containing the transfer agreement and deed for the downtown lot. Please review them."

Rachel took the documents and replied, "Alright, David, please wait a moment. I'll go through them quickly."

She began to read one of the documents carefully. David sat across from her, secretly observing her, growing more and more surprised.

In such a short time, Rachel had changed so much, as if she had washed away the grime and was now radiating brilliance. Meanwhile, the once seemingly pure and kind Mandy had turned sinister and ruthless. It was truly astonishing!

Rachel sensed David's gaze but didn't mind, calmly finishing her review of the documents. After reading, she closed the files and set them aside. She called out, "David."

"Hmm?" David was startled, then came to his senses and adjusted his glasses. "Sorry, Ms. Williams, did you call me?"

Rachel nodded with a smile. "I've reviewed the documents. Thank you for making the trip, and please convey my thanks to Mr. Smith."

"Alright, I will. I'll take my leave now," David replied and stood up to say goodbye.

"Lily, please see David out," Rachel instructed.

"David, this way, please." Lily gestured and escorted him out.

When Lily returned, she was surrounded by her colleagues.

One colleague asked, "Lily, that was Mr. Smith's assistant, right? What was he doing here? Looking for Ms. Williams?"

Another colleague said, "Could it be that Mr. Smith sent David to deliver something to Ms. Williams? Last time it was mangoes; what's it this time?"

The third colleague whispered, "I heard that even though Mr. Smith and Ms. Williams are divorced; with such frequent interactions, are they getting back together?"

Faced with her colleagues' curious questions, Lily shrugged helplessly. "How would I know? Alright, alright, stop prying into the boss's private matters and get back to work. If Ms. Williams catches us slacking, we'll be in trouble."

Hearing this, everyone quickly dispersed. Lily returned to Rachel's office and reported, "Ms. Williams, David has left."

Rachel was busy at the printer, making copies of the recently signed transfer agreement and deed. She responded briefly, "Got it. Process the documents on the desk and distribute them. Let me know if there's any news from Mr. Davis."

"Understood, Ms. Williams," Lily answered. Then she picked up the neatly stacked documents and left.

After finishing the copies, Rachel carefully bound them and planned to store the originals in the safe. Suddenly, a sly glint flashed in her eyes. She took out her phone, snapped a photo of the original deed, and posted it on social media with the caption: [Thanks to Mr. Smith for the Land Transfer Agreement!]

She made sure to tag Michael and TriStar Corporation. If Ethan saw it, he would probably be furious. Mandy's actions were something her father, Ethan, should also take responsibility for.

Thinking this, Rachel's lips curled into a faint smile. Just then, her phone rang abruptly.

Seeing it was Robert calling, she answered without hesitation, "Robert."

"Rachel." On the other end, Robert's deep, magnetic voice came through, pleasant to the ear.

Rachel's ears warmed slightly, and she instinctively shrank her neck. She asked, "Are you done with work? What made you think of calling me?"

"Not yet. I just finished a magazine cover shoot and was scrolling through my feed during a break when I saw your update. Rachel, what does your post mean? Did Michael give you land?" Robert asked.

"Yes," Rachel replied as she leaned back in her chair.

Robert frowned slightly. "Why did he give you land? Rachel, are you two getting back together?"

"Where did you get that idea?" Rachel knew he misunderstood and explained with a bitter smile, "It's compensation for Mandy's actions."

Robert was initially stunned, but his expression turned colder. He asked with concern, "Compensation? Rachel, what did Mandy do to you?"
