Chapter 206

'So that's what happened.' Michael wondered as he slightly raised his head. He thought she was deliberately targeting Rachel.

Ethan looked at Michael with a stern face, clearly unhappy. "Even though Mandy isn't officially engaged to you, the engagement party that Rachel ruined was already announced. Mandy is your fiancée. You should at least give her a ring; otherwise, people will laugh at her."

"Dad, don't be like this. Michael has his own ideas. Let's not push him." Mandy tugged at Ethan's sleeve, hurriedly persuading him. As she spoke, she looked apologetically at Michael, afraid that he might get angry. "I'm sorry, Michael. Don't mind what my dad said."

"It's okay, he's right. I should give you a ring." Michael replied in a cold voice.

The reason he hadn't given Mandy a ring was that he was reluctant and used the excuse of waiting until they got married. However, Ethan was right. Mandy already had the title of his fiancée. If he didn't even give her a ring, people in their circle would indeed look down on Mandy.

"Michael, are you serious?" Mandy looked at Michael with joy.

Seeing her so happy, Michael's gaze softened a bit. "Yes."

Mandy was the woman he loved. He had once said he would make her happy for a lifetime. He couldn't give her a ring just because of some inexplicable feelings in his heart.

"Michael, you're so good." Mandy happily threw herself into Michael's arms.

Ethan pretended to be angry and glared at her. "You abandoned your dad for a ring. It seems Michael is more important."

"Dad!" Mandy turned around and called out coquettishly, but she exchanged a knowing glance with Ethan, a look only they understood.

In fact, they had come to find Michael on purpose. Before coming, they had already found out that the person in the private room was Michael, so they arranged this scene to make Michael agree to give her a ring, solidifying her status as his fiancée. Unexpectedly, it went off without a hitch.

"Michael, how about we go pick out a ring tomorrow? I want a DR ring because it symbolizes a man can only buy one, even though they are generally not expensive, even a bit cheap. Is that okay?" Mandy looked up at Michael.

When Michael heard "a man can only buy one," his brows furrowed slightly. He wanted to say no, but when he saw the expectant look in her eyes, he swallowed his resistance and nodded. "Okay."

"Thank you, Michael." Mandy happily hugged him tightly.

Michael's mouth twitched, but he felt irritated inside.

After a few seconds, he gently pushed Mandy away. "Alright, let's go to the banquet. Mr. and Mrs. Jones are still waiting for us to greet them."

"You're right, let's go quickly." Ethan nodded.

The Jones family was more powerful than the Brown family. Although not as strong as the Smith family, it was still best not to offend the Brown family.

At this moment, the banquet hall was brightly lit, and people were mingling with drinks.

Rachel was holding a glass of juice, looking around as if searching for something.

John walked over with a plate of snacks and handed it to her. "Finally got rid of Joseph. I don't know what's gotten into him lately. He's clearly Michael's friend, but instead of looking for Michael, he keeps hanging around us. It's so annoying."

"Alright, he means no harm, and he's quite nice, very talkative. It's easy to get along with him." Rachel took the snacks and smiled.

"Forget it, let's not talk about him. Rachel, what were you looking at just now?" John asked, taking a sip of red wine.

"I was looking for Robert. I haven't seen him since the auction started, only heard his voice." Rachel rubbed her temples and replied.

"Hearing you say you miss me makes me so happy." As soon as the words fell, a gentle voice sounded behind her.

Rachel's face lit up with a surprised smile. She quickly turned around and saw a young man not far away. She took a step forward. "Robert, it's really you!"

Robert smiled and nodded, then extended his arms to hug her. The embrace was tight but filled with gentleness.

Robert buried his head in Rachel's shoulder, gently rubbing it, his voice choked with emotion. "Rachel, I missed you so much."

Rachel, both amused and exasperated, patted his head. "Alright, I missed you too. Come on, stop it now. Everyone's watching."

"No, Rachel, let me hold you a little longer." Robert not only didn't let go but hugged her even tighter.

Rachel just treated him like a child, shaking her head helplessly and letting him be.

Beside them, John rolled his eyes hard. Robert always pretended to be weak and innocent to gain Rachel's affection. John was so envious! He smiled bitterly and finished his glass of red wine.

Not far away, Michael and his group of three walked into the banquet hall. Through the crowd, they saw Rachel and Robert hugging. Michael's pupils contracted sharply, his hand gripping the cane tightened, and his face darkened with a flash of anger in his eyes.

Robert had actually come back. As soon as he returned, he was hugging Rachel. Did she really like having these men around her?

Sensing the cold aura beside him, Mandy glanced at Michael and saw the jealousy in his eyes, her gaze dimming.

"Michael, the one hugging Rachel should be Robert, right? The model who, along with her, ruined my recovery party. I thought he had left Summit Ridge District, but he's back and hugging her. John, as Rachel' boyfriend, is just standing there watching and not stopping them. What do you think their relationship is?"

Mandy's lips curled into a mischievous smile, quickly disappearing.

Michael's face was extremely ugly. The sight of Rachel and Robert hugging made him feel terrible, wanting to rush over and separate them, telling Rachel not to be so close to other men. But he knew he had no right.

"It has nothing to do with us." Michael said coldly, retracting his gaze and walking forward, with Mandy hurrying to follow.

On the other side, John put down his empty wine glass and stepped forward to pull Robert away. "Alright, alright, you've hugged long enough."

Robert gave him a dissatisfied look.

John glared back. "Don't forget, I'm Rachel's nominal boyfriend now. Hugging Rachel like this, what will people think?"

Robert was stunned for a moment, looking around. Sure enough, people were gossiping and speculating about their relationship. When they saw him looking over, they quickly pretended to be nonchalant and looked away.

However, as soon as he looked away, they resumed their unfriendly gossip, with some even saying Rachel was indiscreet and flirted with men everywhere.
