Chapter 207
Rachel heard it too, smiled slightly, and didn't care. She was long tired of hearing such things.
"Rachel, aren't you angry?" Robert looked at the smiling Rachel and asked with a frown.
Rachel took a sip of juice. "What's the use of getting angry?"
"They actually judge you like that." Robert squinted, his gaze sweeping over those people as if to remember their faces.
Rachel smiled, "Let them talk; I can't shut everyone up. Besides, there are so many people, I can't get angry at all of them."
"But I'm angry." A brief flash of coldness flickered in Robert's eyes. He thought, 'These people dare to insult Rachel. I'm not letting any of them off!'
Rachel patted Robert's shoulder. "Alright, I know you're standing up for me. But I don't care, so you shouldn't either. They're just a bunch of gossipers, no need to bother with them."
Robert nodded with a smile. "I understand, Rachel."
"My juice is finished; I'm going to get another glass." Rachel put the empty glass aside and walked towards the fruit area again.
Only Robert and John were left at the scene.
John put his hand on Robert's shoulder and asked in a low voice, "Robert, are you planning to take action?"
Robert shook off his hand and replied coldly, "They dared to slander Rachel, of course, I have to teach them a lesson."
"I support you, but be careful, in case it gets traced back to Rachel."
"I know." Robert interrupted him, looking down.
John patted his shoulder. "Great. Rachel is back; don't let anything slip.."
Robert responded.
Rachel walked over with a glass of mango juice, smiling. "What were you guys talking about? I saw you both looking serious just now."
"We were discussing what birthday gift to get you." John smiled and made an excuse.
Robert nodded in agreement. "Yes, Rachel, what gift would you like?"
Rachel was a bit helpless. "My birthday's in June next year. Isn't it a bit early to talk about it now?"
"Not at all, some gifts need to be custom-made in advance." Robert said gently.
John echoed, "Yes, Rachel."
"You guys are getting a birthday gift for Rachel? Count me in. " At this moment, Joseph suddenly walked over and interrupted.
John glanced at him. "What does Rachel's birthday have to do with you?"
"How could it not? I'm also Rachel's friend." Joseph patted his chest and said.
John sneered. "Your friend is Michael."
"So what, friends are not limited. Besides, Rachel and I are also partners, right?" Joseph winked at Rachel.
John pursed his lips, speechless.
Robert squinted. "Rachel, what are you collaborating with Joseph on?"
"Some important matters. I'll tell you the details later." Rachel answered with a smile.
This is a matter between the Williams and Anderson families. No need to tell Robert and make him worry.
Seeing that Rachel didn't want to say, a trace of disappointment flashed in Robert's eyes.
"By the way, Rachel, let me introduce you to some business bigwigs." Joseph suddenly suggested.
Rachel's eyes lit up slightly, then she looked at him suspiciously. "Why are you suddenly being so nice and helping me expand my network?"
"Just to thank you for taking care of Kade last time. Come on, don't keep the bigwigs waiting." With that, Joseph directly grabbed her wrist and pulled her away.
Even though John was displeased, he didn't stop them for the sake of Rachel's career.
Robert looked at Joseph's back with a gloomy face. "John, since when did he and Rachel become so close?"
He knew Joseph was Michael's friend and had no interaction with Rachel before.
How did their relationship become so good in just over two months, and the way he looked at Rachel made Robert very uncomfortable.
"Probably because of the collaboration." John swirled the wine in his glass and replied.
Robert turned to him. "What exactly is the collaboration?"
John shrugged. "Forget it! Rachel doesn't want you to know, so I won't go against her wishes. Come on, let me introduce you to some bigwigs in the entertainment industry."
On the other side, under Joseph's lead, Rachel met many business executives and received many business cards.
Although many people gave her their business cards because of Joseph, some genuinely appreciated her eloquence.
Although this group was small, it was still something to be happy about for Rachel.
At least she left a good impression on some executives, which would make future collaborations smoother.
"Rachel, I'm going to the restroom. You..."
"I'll go sit in the lounge area." Rachel interrupted Joseph, smiling.
Joseph nodded. "Alright, I'll go to the restroom first."
He handed his wine glass to a passing waiter and turned to leave the hall.
Rachel put the business cards into her handbag and was about to head to the lounge area.
She had just taken two steps when a hostile voice called out, "Isn't this Rachel? Why are you alone? Where are your boyfriends?"
Rachel pursed her lips, turned around, and looked expressionlessly at Monica and Mandy walking over.
Mandy tugged at Monica's arm. "Monica, don't be like this."
Then, she smiled apologetically at Rachel. "Ms. Williams, I apologize for Monica. She didn't mean it; she just speaks without thinking."Rachel said, "I think your apology is insincere."
"Ms. Williams, how can you say that?" Mandy bit her lip, looking aggrieved.
Monica stiffened her neck. "Did I say anything wrong, you are indeed close to many men."
"Are you jealous?" Rachel crossed her arms, looking at her mockingly.
Monica's face turned red with anger, and she shouted, "Of course not!"
"Then why bring up Joseph and the others to talk to me? Even if you want to pick a fight, you don't have to use the men around me as an excuse, right?" Rachel sneered.
"I..." Monica was so angry that her eyes turned red, stammering and unable to speak.
Rachel coldly glanced at the two, full of disdain. "Next time you want to pick a fight, come up with a better reason, or you'll just embarrass yourselves!" With that, she turned to leave.
Mandy bit her lip, a trace of viciousness flashing in her eyes, and suddenly grabbed Rachel's arm. She then pretended to be pushed, stumbled back in fear, and fell to the ground, breaking the wine glass in her hand and soaking her dress.
This scene immediately attracted everyone's attention, and they all looked over.
Mandy raised her head, her face full of tears, looking at Rachel. "Ms. Williams, you're too much. I just accidentally bumped into you. Why did you push me?"
