Chapter 200
"Don't be angry; sit down first." Gregory pulled out a chair, gesturing for Mandy to sit.
Mandy threw her bag heavily on the table. "How can I not be angry? We could have dealt with Rachel today. As long as she's dead, I won't have to worry anymore. But you..."
"Michael was outside Rachel's operating room." Gregory interrupted her.
Mandy was stunned.
"If I performed surgery on Rachel and something happened to her, don't you think Michael would be suspicious?" Gregory adjusted his glasses and stared at her.
Mandy bit her lip. "You're right, we can't kill Rachel, but at least we could have dealt with the baby in her womb. Why didn't you do it?" she asked angrily, looking at Gregory.
Gregory poured her a glass of water. "No need to rush, there will be plenty of opportunities. Don't you trust me?"
"But I'm afraid if we drag this out too long, Michael will acknowledge the child and then remarry Rachel." Mandy said, clenching her fists.
Gregory's lips curled into a mocking smile. "I think you're overthinking it. Michael isn't Rachel. He knows the child is his, and he specifically went to the operating room to wait for Rachel to come out today, which shows he doesn't care that much about the child. So you don't really need to worry about it."
"I'm just afraid of any unexpected situations. You know, the person Michael truly loves is Rachel." Mandy said in a deep voice.
A sly look flashed in Gregory's eyes. " Why are you so afraid of Rachel? She's already divorced Michael and doesn't seem like she'll get back together with him. What exactly are you afraid of?"
Mandy's eyes flickered, and she said somewhat unhappily, "That's not something you should ask."
She didn't want to reveal that she had been impersonating Rachel, especially in front of Michael and Gregory. If she had revealed it, Gregory might have started to suspect that she had also pretended to be his savior.
"Alright, if you don't want to say, then forget it." Gregory shrugged, as if he really didn't care.
Mandy had just breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Gregory ask again, "By the way, do you remember when we first met?"
Mandy panicked. "Why are you suddenly asking this?"
"Nothing, just reminiscing about the past." Gregory took a sip of tea and smiled.
Despite her inner fury, Mandy still managed to keep a smile on her face. "Of course, it was when I saved you."
Gregory lightly tapped the table without responding. Mandy's heart skipped a beat, and her smile nearly faltered. Trying to sound more natural, she said, "Isn't that right?"
Seven years ago, when they first met, he excitedly told her he had finally found her. She had said she didn't know him, and he said their first meeting was when his real savior saved him, so she shouldn't have answered wrong.
Gregory suddenly smiled. "Of course, it's right. Our first meeting was when you saved me." He particularly emphasized the words "saved me."
Mandy breathed a sigh of relief.
However, at this moment, Gregory asked again, "Do you remember where you saved me?"
Mandy's heart tightened again, and anxiety and fear surged. She thought, 'What does he mean? Why is he suddenly asking this? Could it be that he knows I'm a fake and is testing me?' Thinking of this, Mandy's face turned pale, and she felt a wave of panic.
She didn't know how to answer because she had no idea where his real savior had saved him, and he had never told her. In the end, Mandy gave a seemingly safe answer, "I'm sorry, Gregory, I really forgot."
By saying she forgot instead of admitting she didn't know, he couldn't be sure she was lying. Seeing that Gregory didn't doubt her, Mandy exhaled slightly. It seemed her strategy had worked.
Then, Mandy grabbed Gregory's arm. "Gregory, then tell me, where exactly did we first meet? I promise I won't forget this time."
"Alright." Gregory lowered his gaze, hiding the coldness in his eyes. "We first met at the amusement park. I had fallen and couldn't walk, and some traffickers tried to take me away. You showed up just in time and scared them off."
Mandy squinted, then suddenly realized and slapped her thigh. "Gregory, I do remember! Yes, we first met at the amusement park. I didn't know where I got the courage to deal with the traffickers. Thinking back now, it was quite scary."
"You were very brave." Gregory smiled, but his eyes were filled with a mix of gloom and sarcasm.
Seeing Gregory's usual smile, Mandy was completely relieved.
It seemed he didn't suspect she was an imposter. The reason he asked these questions was really just to reminisce about the past.
Otherwise, he would have exposed her long ago and wouldn't have tolerated her continuing to impersonate.
So Mandy picked up her cup, took a big sip of water, and stood up to leave. "Gregory, I'm going to see Michael now; I'll go first."
She couldn't stay here any longer. If he asked more questions she couldn't answer, it would be troublesome.
"Okay." Gregory also stood up and nodded in agreement.
Mandy quickly left.
Gregory watched her disappear outside the private room, his smile completely fading, his gaze cold and frightening.
"Daring to impersonate my savior, Mandy, I'll make you wish you were dead!" Gregory murmured in a cold voice.
Although it was partly his mistake, Mandy should have known whether she had saved him or not. Yet she shamelessly pretended to be his savior and took advantage of him. For that alone, he would never forgive her.
Gregory sneered as he looked at the cup Mandy had just drunk from. Then, he took out his phone and sent a message to Rachel. Upon reading it, Rachel's eyebrows immediately furrowed.
