Chapter 194
"I have an idea," John said with a smile.
Rachel looked at him. "Go ahead."
"Two months ago, you gave me the Azure Heart and your wedding ring to sell and donate to the mountain area. I haven't sold them yet, you can just donate these two items," John shrugged.
Rachel's eyes widened in surprise. "You haven't sold them yet?"
"Yeah," John nodded. "The Azure Heart is too expensive, so many people can't afford it. Besides, everyone knows it was custom-ordered by Michael, so they're afraid of offending him if they buy it. As for your wedding ring, I was planning to sell it after the Azure Heart was sold, but since the Azure Heart hasn't been sold, I've kept them both."
"I see." Rachel nodded in realization. "So where is the ring now?"
"It's at my place. You want to donate it?" John asked.
Rachel responded, "You just said the Azure Heart is too expensive, even if we donate it, it might not sell. Plus, Michael will attend the auction, and anyone who dares to buy the Azure Heart would be going against him. So just donating the wedding ring is fine, it can still be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars."
"You're right. I'll donate the ring in your name once your surgery is over and you're back home," John said, stroking his chin.
After lunch, the two of them headed to the hospital. As soon as Rachel got out of the car, Joseph waved and walked over.
John glared at him with slight hostility. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to accompany Rachel for her surgery," Joseph said with a smile, completely ignoring John's attitude.
John looked away in disdain and turned to Rachel. "You even told him about this?"
"He asked, so I mentioned it," Rachel replied with a smile.
John looked at Rachel with a face full of grievance. "Rachel, you said only I would accompany you."
"What? When did I say that?" Rachel looked confused.
Joseph laughed. "John, did you hear that? Rachel doesn't even remember agreeing to that, so don't mind me. It's good to have an extra person to help. Rachel will need to get her medication after the surgery, and I can stay in the ward to take care of her."
Hearing this, John thought it made sense. Although he still didn't like having Joseph around, he didn't refuse for Rachel's sake.
Joseph secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, his acting was good enough that John didn't notice his feelings for Rachel, otherwise, he would have been kicked out. After all, John also had feelings for Rachel, but she hadn't realized it yet and thought they were just good friends. He thought, 'Too many romantic rivals is such a headache!'
With a bitter smile, Joseph shook his head, but his eyes remained determined. He wouldn't give up. He had finally found love, and he was ready to fight for her.
"Alright, let's go in," Rachel said, glancing at the time. It was almost two o'clock. She addressed the two men.
The two men nodded simultaneously. "Let's go in then."
As soon as they finished speaking, the three of them walked into the hospital.
Not far away, in a black car, Michael watched their backs with a gloomy expression, his eyes cold. He wondered, 'Two guys coming with Rachel for surgery. She is really something!'
Michael's large hand clenched tightly, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.
David saw Michael's expression through the rearview mirror and shook his head helplessly. He thought, 'Mr. Smith brought this on himself. When they were together, Mr. Smith didn't appreciate her and was so distant that even I couldn't stand it. Now that they're apart, he's jealous. What's the point?
But he couldn't say that out loud. David looked at Michael cautiously and asked in a low voice, "Mr. Smith, should we go in?"
Michael didn't answer, he just opened the car door and got out with his cane.
David raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking, 'Alright, we're going in after all.'
Inside the hospital, Gregory felt it was quite a coincidence when he saw Rachel. He had just finished his rounds and was passing through the hospital lobby when he saw Rachel and the two men. After they walked away, Gregory took out his phone and called Mandy.
"Gregory, what's up?" Mandy asked in a calm tone over the phone.
Gregory looked in the direction the three had left, adjusted his glasses, and replied, "Rachel is at the hospital."
Hearing this, Mandy stopped eating her fruit and sat up excitedly. "Oh right, I remember, today is the day of her surgery."
"That's right," Gregory nodded.
Mandy stood up excitedly. "Great! Gregory, I'm counting on you for good news."
Gregory was about to respond when he suddenly saw something surprising, and his eyes narrowed.
Mandy, noticing his sudden silence, was displeased. "Gregory, what's wrong? Why aren't you responding?" she asked with a hint of petulance.
In front of Michael, she had to be gentle and graceful, but with Gregory, she could be herself. She wasn't afraid of him knowing her true nature, as he couldn't expose it.
Hearing her reproach, Gregory pressed his lips together. But since she was his benefactor, he replied patiently, "It's nothing, I just saw Michael."
"Michael?" Mandy stood up abruptly and shouted, "What's he doing at the hospital?"
"Not sure, but he came in a wheelchair, probably to change his dressing," Gregory guessed, looking in Michael's direction.
Mandy was about to relax when Gregory's tone changed. "Wait, his assistant is pushing him towards the OB-GYN department."
"What?" Mandy's face turned pale with panic. "Does he know Rachel is pregnant?"
Gregory squinted. "It's possible. Otherwise, why would he be at the hospital heading to the OB-GYN department?"
"Damn it! When did he find out?" Mandy was trembling all over, her face pale with fear.
If Michael knew Rachel was pregnant with his child, was he coming to stop her from having an abortion? If he stopped her, would he tell Rachel the child was his and reconcile with her for the sake of the child?
The more she thought about it, the more scared she became. Mandy's face twisted, and her body shook even more violently.
Clutching her phone tightly, she said viciously, "Gregory, I want you to personally perform the surgery on Rachel right now. I want her dead before Michael can stop it, and I want her to suffer."
Gregory didn't consider himself a good person, but hearing Mandy's words still shocked him. Was this truly the same angel who had once saved his life?
But the red birthmark on Mandy's wrist reminded him that she indeed was his savior.
