Chapter 142

"Judging by his attitude, he totally thinks so," Ella said, yawning.

"Michael, that's not fair. We've been in here sleeping the whole time. How could we have hit Mandy? And why would we even want to?" Joseph asked, looking groggy.

Seeing them still playing innocent, Michael's eyes got colder. "James already confessed. Are you still gonna deny it?"

"He admitted it. What's that got to do with us? We didn't do it, so why should we admit to something we didn't do?" John said, glaring at James, who was proving to be unreliable.

James noticed the glare and lowered his head. He didn't mean to confess so quickly; he just couldn't lie in front of Michael.

Michael knew John was deliberately denying it and glared at him before turning his gaze to Rachel. "Are you gonna deny it too? Wasn't it because you wanted to get back at Mandy for what she did earlier?"

Rachel opened her eyes and looked at him coldly and calmly. "Do you have any proof?"

Michael felt a surge of irritation at her indifferent gaze. He didn't like this feeling.

"Yeah, do you have any proof this was our revenge?" John asked, crossing his arms.

At that moment, Mandy, who had just taken a shower and changed her clothes, spoke up, "The injuries on me are the proof."

Seeing the bruises on her face, everyone couldn't help but laugh. Mandy's face turned red with anger, and she stomped her foot. "What are you laughing at?"

"Nothing, it's definitely not because you look so ridiculous right now, Miss Brown." Joseph laughed until tears came out. Then the others laughed even harder.

Although Rachel wasn't as exaggerated as they were, the slight curve of her lips and the gleam in her eyes unmistakably betrayed her good mood.

"You're too much!" Mandy cried, throwing herself into Michael's arms.

Michael coldly swept his gaze around and barked, "Everyone, shut up!" The laughter stopped abruptly.

"Sorry, Michael, it's just that Miss Brown looks so..." Joseph scratched his head awkwardly, not finishing his sentence, but his eyes showed no shame.

"Miss Brown, you say your injuries are proof we hit you?" John raised an eyebrow.

"That's right." Mandy nodded firmly.

Rachel sneered, "With all due respect, Miss Brown, your injuries can't be considered proof."

"Why not?" Mandy asked, frowning.

Rachel smiled and said, "First of all, you say we hit you. Did anyone see it?"

Mandy hesitated for a moment, biting her lip. "No."

There were only seven of them in the villa. Michael was sleeping in his room at the time, and the chef and stable staff didn't live there. With Rachel and the others ganging up on her, no one else saw it.

"Secondly, how did we hit you, and where did we hit you?" Rachel continued to ask.

Mandy clenched her fists. "You used a sack to knock me out and took me to the stables, then beat me up."

"Oh, so where are the anesthetics and the sack you mentioned?" Rachel smiled at her.

Mandy gritted her teeth. "They must be in your rooms. If not, you must have destroyed them."

"So you're not sure if we have those things, right?" Rachel's eyes flashed with cunning. "Since you're not sure, and no one saw us hit you, it means you're falsely accusing us. You're framing us."

"I'm not! These bruises are clearly your doing!" Mandy pointed to the marks on her face.

Rachel spread her hands. "Do your injuries have our fingerprints on them? If not, how can you prove we did it?"

"Exactly," John chimed in. Joseph and the others nodded in agreement.

Mandy trembled with anger. "How could fingerprints be left on skin?"

"Exactly, you can't prove we hit you. If you keep accusing us, we'll sue you for defamation," Rachel said with a smile.

"You..." Mandy wanted to say more but was interrupted by Michael. "Alright, Mandy, let's go."

Mandy looked at him in disbelief. "Go back? Michael, I was bullied by them, and we're just going to leave?"

"We can't do anything as you have no evidence," Michael said coldly.

He actually believed that Rachel and the others had indeed hit Mandy. But they had done it flawlessly, leaving no evidence. Even though they knew who the culprits were, they couldn't seek justice.

Mandy was silent for a while, then followed Michael out. Before leaving, Michael glanced back at Rachel, his eyes deep.

Rachel squinted and pursed her lips. John walked over and asked, "Rachel, what did his look mean?"

Rachel shook her head. "I don't know."

Logically speaking, Mandy's beating should have made him furious. However, his eyes did not convey such an emotion; in fact, they seemed to hold something else entirely.

"Weirdo," John muttered.

Rachel yawned. "Alright, it's still early. Let's go back to sleep."

"Alright." Joseph and the others agreed and went back to their rooms.

At the door of Mandy's room on the second floor, Mandy shook off Michael's hand. "Michael, I'm really not willing to let this go!"

"I know, but there's nothing we can do. It's clear that Rachel and the others planned this very carefully, leaving no evidence," Michael said calmly.

Mandy's eyes reddened. "Just let it go?"

"What else can we do? You had someone use snakes to attack Rachel during the day, and you didn't leave any evidence either. Rachel just retaliated in kind." Michael rubbed his temples, looking tired.

Mandy said nothing. How could she let it go? She had always been the one to make others suffer, not the other way around. Even if she knew this was Rachel's revenge, she wouldn't let it go easily. Thinking this, she obediently said, "I understand."

Seeing her compliance, Michael gently patted her head. "Go back to your room. I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow to check your injuries."

"Okay." Mandy nodded, forcing a smile. After Michael left, Mandy's smile disappeared, replaced by a sinister expression.

The next morning, after breakfast, everyone was packing up to leave. Despite the unpleasant events, the weekend had been overall decent.

As John was loading the luggage into the car, Rachel sat on the sofa drinking juice, waiting for him to call her. Joseph and the others were still packing.

At this moment, Mandy walked up to Rachel. "Ms. Williams."

Rachel looked up at her indifferently. "What is it, Miss Brown?"

Mandy, with her hands behind her back, smiled and asked, "Ms. Williams, are you happy now?"
