Chapter 165
Lily piped up from the back, "Mr. Roberts and Mr. Wood aren't here yet."
"Got it." Rachel nodded.
A few minutes later, the conference room door swung open, and in walked Frank with Walter.
Rachel locked eyes with Frank. "Mr. Roberts, you're late."
Frank casually pulled out a chair and plopped down. "Sorry, got held up. You don't mind, do you?"
Rachel smiled. "Not at all." She knew Frank was just trying to mess with her by being late. Let him have his moment; it wouldn't last. "Alright, since everyone's here, let's kick off today's meeting. Last time..."
Frank cut her off, "Rachel, today's the day we announce the new energy tech partnership results. Care to share?"
"Yeah, Ms. Williams, did you secure the partnership?" Frank's crew chimed in.
Rachel frowned a bit. One of her senior supporters banged the table. "Enough! The meeting just started. We can discuss this later."
"Why not now? We just want to know the result," Frank's people shot back.
Frank looked at Rachel with disdain. "Since everyone's curious, you might as well spill the beans now."
"Yeah, tell us already," his followers echoed.
Clifford Hayes, a die-hard supporter of Rachel, was visibly pissed. "Don't push it!"
"Alright, Mr. Hayes, take a seat. Since they're so curious, I'll tell them. After all, today's meeting is about this," Rachel said coldly, eyeing Frank with a smirk.
Frank's unease grew, and the contempt on his face vanished. He thought, 'Did Rachel really secure the collaboration slot? No way. She must be bluffing.' But his clenched fists gave away his anxiety.
Rachel noticed and sneered. "I secured the collaboration slot!"
The room went silent; no one could believe it. "Ms. Williams, is it true?" Clifford asked, trembling with excitement.
Rachel nodded seriously. "Yes."
"Awesome!" Clifford clenched his fist in excitement, his face lighting up with joy.
Rachel's other supporters were thrilled too. Everyone knew that new energy tech meant big changes. Once it matured, it would reshape the future energy landscape. Skyline Corporation getting in early meant a bright future.
Frank's supporters looked grim, especially Frank. He suddenly stood up and demanded, "How is this possible?"
The conference room fell silent. Rachel calmly looked at him. "Why not?"
"I know your capabilities. Even I wasn't confident about getting that slot. How could you?" Frank mocked.
Rachel sneered. "Well, I got it. So, what now?"
Frank was fuming. He narrowed his eyes and sneered, "I know, you must have used some underhanded means to get Mr. Smith to approve your proposal, right?"
Rachel's face darkened, and she stood up. "Mr. Roberts, watch your words. I secured this with my own abilities. Do you have any evidence for your accusation? Everyone in Summit Ridge knows Michael loves Mandy and divorced me for her. Do you think he would be swayed by me?"
"That's right, Mr. Roberts, show us the evidence," Clifford said with a sarcastic glare. He had long disliked Frank and seized the chance to strike.
"Fine, you win. I can't argue with you!" Frank angrily sat down.
Rachel looked at him indifferently. "It seems you have nothing more to say. Then, please fulfill your previous promise."
"What promise?" Frank was stunned.
Rachel extended her hand, and Lily handed her a document. Placing it before Frank, Rachel smiled and said, "We bet that if I secured the collaboration slot, you'd give me half of Skyline Corporation's management rights. Now that I've won, it's time to fulfill your promise."
Frank's mouth twitched, and his fists clenched. Walter, beside him, lowered his head.
Indeed, Rachel was so eager to hold the meeting to regain management rights. Despite Walter's advice, Frank arrogantly believed she wouldn't win. Now, she had successfully countered.
"Rachel..." Frank forced a smile.
With a sneer, Rachel interrupted him, "Mr. Roberts, you don't intend to renege, do you? It won't work. Everyone was present for the bet, and I recorded it. Do you want to hear what you said?" She waved her phone.
Frank's face turned pale, looking terrible. "No need, I stand by my word!"
With so many witnesses, he couldn't back out. If he did, it would cast doubt on his leadership. He had no choice but to accept and look for an opportunity to regain power later.
"Then please sign." Rachel smiled, handing him a pen. Frank took it with a stern expression and signed his name.
Rachel's eyes sparkled with joy. With Frank's signature, she now controlled half of Skyline Corporation's management. Her next goal was to obtain the remaining rights and oust Frank.
After the meeting, Rachel returned to her office in high spirits and picked up the phone to share the good news with John.
Meanwhile, at Smith Corporation headquarters, David walked into the CEO's office. "Mr. Smith, I've got the info you asked for."
Michael released the mouse and looked up. "What's going on?"
"According to the PR department, Ethan's post was about looking for their eldest daughter," David said.
