Chapter 177

Michael wasn't sweating the money, but he was genuinely worried that Mandy had been duped again.

"David," Michael called out to his assistant.

David walked in and stood in front of Michael's desk. "Mr. Smith, what do you need?"

"Find out where Mandy went today and what she bought," Michael said, rubbing his temples with a hint of frustration.

"Got it," David said and quickly left. He came back soon with the info. "Mr. Smith, Miss Brown went to the mall and bought over twenty dresses in one go."

"What? Why so many?" Michael's frown deepened. He knew Mandy was planning to buy an evening dress today, but he didn't expect her to go on a shopping spree.

David adjusted his glasses. "I heard she got tricked by Ms. Williams."

"Rachel's at it again?" Michael's eyes narrowed. "What happened? Give me the details."

"Apparently, they ran into each other while shopping. Every time Ms. Williams liked a dress, Miss Brown would snatch it up. But it was all a setup by Ms. Williams. In the end, Miss Brown paid for all those dresses and got played," David explained, feeling a bit sorry for Mandy.

Mandy's actions not only backfired but also made her look foolish. Since it sounded harsh, David kept his thoughts to himself.

Michael's face darkened, and the tension in the room was palpable. Whether it was Mandy's usual self or her other personality, her behavior was both childish and foolish, exposing her pettiness in public.

"Did Rachel get anything she liked?" Michael asked coldly.

David shook his head. "No, she didn't. She didn't go to any other stores afterward."

"Alright." Michael thought for a moment. "Contact the stores. If there are any suitable dresses, give them to her for free. But don't let her know I'm behind it."

"Understood." David nodded and was about to leave but was stopped by Michael. "Wait."

"Anything else?" David turned around.

Michael sighed. "Keep this confidential. Don't let her find out who's behind it."

At the mall, Rachel and Ella, after leaving Moda Fusion Studio, went to a few more stores but couldn't find anything they liked.

Standing outside an old high-end custom store, they hesitated. Ella, exhausted, complained, "Ms. Williams, what if we can't find the dress we want here?"

Rachel, also tired, replied, "It's okay. If we can't find anything, we'll just make do."

"Alright then," Ella reluctantly agreed and went in to check it out.

Though this store wasn't as famous as the others, it was one of the oldest brands in the industry, known for its classical style, which wasn't very popular with young customers.

Unexpectedly, Rachel found her ideal outfit here! Ella's eyes lit up. "This dress is perfect!"

Rachel looked at herself in the mirror and smiled with satisfaction. "It really is nice."

The saleslady nodded approvingly. "Miss, could I take a few photos of you in this dress? You're the first person to bring out its charm, and I'd like to share it with the designer."

Rachel smiled and agreed, striking an elegant pose. The saleslady quickly took out her phone and snapped a few beautiful photos.

Ella peeked at the photos and exclaimed, "So beautiful! Ms. Williams, you must keep these as a memento."

So, this special photo was taken. The subsequent events unfolded naturally.

After explaining the reason, the store waived the fee as a surprise for the customer, making Rachel even happier. As for the mastermind behind the whole event, it was thoughtful David who completed the task and reported back to Michael.

Later, in the office, Michael stared at David's phone for a long time. The image showed Rachel in a vintage evening dress under warm light, looking elegant and radiant.

His heart raced at her beauty. He traced her face in the photo with his fingertips, murmuring, "The photographer did a great job."

"Actually, it was the saleslady who suggested taking the photos and sent them to me for approval," David quickly clarified.

"Is that so? I only instructed you to handle the bill," Michael said, squinting at him.

David quickly responded, "Sorry, boss, it was a misunderstanding. Should I delete them?"

"No need. Send them to me; I'll delete them myself," Michael replied calmly.

David's face twitched slightly, thinking that Michael would probably secretly keep the photos.
