Chapter 208
Rachel was initially puzzled about how Mandy had fallen.
Upon hearing this, Rachel instantly understood that Mandy was trying to frame her. "When did I ever push you?" Rachel sneered at Mandy.
"You say you didn't push me, so did I fall by myself?" Mandy raised her head, glaring at her angrily.
Rachel's lips curled into a cold smile. "That's quite possible. Maybe you fell on purpose to frame me."
"Rachel, you're shameless!" Monica pointed at her angrily. "Mandy was pushed by you, and you dare say she staged it herself? Who would risk getting hurt to do such a thing?"
The people around nodded in agreement. "Exactly."
Mandy raised her eyebrows slightly, a hint of pride flickering in her eyes.
"Did you hear that?" Monica put her hands on her hips. "No one would believe Mandy would do such a thing, especially since I saw you push her with my own eyes. What do you have to say now?"
"I..." Rachel was about to defend herself when a deep male voice interrupted, "Mandy!"
"Michael." Mandy looked at the approaching Michael with tearful eyes, reaching out her hand.
Michael helped her up, seeing her dress stained with red wine, his brows furrowed. "What happened?"
"Tell Dad what happened?" Ethan, who had arrived with him, asked, casting a suspicious glance at Rachel.
Rachel rolled her eyes and let out a contemptuous laugh.
Mandy nestled in Michael's arms, sobbing, "Monica and I saw Rachel and went to greet her, but she accidentally pushed me."
"What do you mean, accidentally? Why are you still being polite? Just tell Mr. Smith she pushed you on purpose," Monica said indignantly.
Michael turned to Rachel, seeing her calm expression, he knew there was more to the story.
To be fair, he still asked, "Rachel, did you push her?"
Before Rachel could answer, Ethan snorted and interrupted, "Michael, Monica saw it. Why are you even asking?"
"Yes, Mr. Smith, not just me; everyone saw it." Monica pointed to the onlookers.
The crowd, not expecting to be dragged into this, felt both angry and helpless. However, out of respect for Michael, they nodded in agreement.
Michael felt a surge of anger, his face darkening.
The people around thought he was angry because Rachel had indeed pushed Mandy. Mandy also secretly smiled at Rachel.
Rachel saw it and sneered mockingly.
"Rachel, do you have anything to say?" Michael looked at her coldly.
"She's been caught red-handed. What else is there to say? Just send her to the police." Ethan said discontentedly.
Michael frowned, continuing to look at Rachel, hoping she would speak up and deny it.
However, Rachel just flicked her nails and smiled calmly. "What can I say? Who would believe me? You?"
Michael's lips moved, almost saying "I would," but he held back and didn't respond.
At this moment, three clear male voices rang out simultaneously, "I believe her!"
Everyone turned to see John, Joseph, and Robert walking over together, exuding a powerful aura, causing the crowd to part automatically.
The three stood in front of Rachel, shielding her like guardians, their sharp eyes scanning the crowd as they firmly declared, "We believe she didn't push Mandy."
It had to be admitted, these three brought immense pressure to the crowd, causing some to lower their heads in fear while others began to whisper. Some enviously remarked that Rachel had a talent for attracting and handling men, managing to be involved with three at once, and yet they all got along well.
Most of those saying this were women; their jealousy evident in their tone.
It was clear they also wished to have so many excellent men doting on them.
This included Mandy.
She had always known Rachel was popular with men. When she found out Michael was corresponding with Rachel, she schemed to impersonate Rachel and stole Michael.
She thought taking Michael would leave Rachel with nothing.
Unexpectedly, without Michael, Rachel had even more outstanding men around her.
Mandy bit her lip, her eyes red. She thought, 'God is truly unfair!'
Michael's face darkened. Seeing John and the others, a surge of inexplicable hostility rose within him. It intensified when he saw Rachel's delighted smile at them, making him want to drive them away.
"What does it matter if you believe her? Everyone was here and saw Rachel push my daughter. What can you three prove?" Ethan shouted angrily.
Mandy clung tightly to Michael's sleeve, sobbing pitifully in his arms.
At this moment, the banquet hosts, Jagger Jones and Daphne, arrived.
"What's going on?" Daphne, holding her husband's arm, walked over, glancing at Mandy in Michael's arms, and asked with a forced smile.
"Mr. and Mrs. Jones, you're just in time." Ethan gave Rachel a sinister look and recounted what had happened.
After listening, Daphne raised her chin. "So, you're arguing about whether Ms. Williams pushed Miss Brown, right?"
"Yes." Ethan said furiously, "But I believe she pushed my daughter. Everyone here can testify, especially Monica who said it herself."
Rachel remained silent, smiling.
John said discontentedly, "You believe it just because she said it?"
Robert's usually gentle face hardened. "That's right. Rachel's not that kind of person. I know her—if she had pushed, she'd admit it. Since she hasn't, it means she didn't."
"I also believe Rachel didn't push Mandy. Mandy, on the other hand, has a history of staging things." Joseph said, looking at Mandy with a half-smile.
Mandy hid in Michael's arms, pretending to be scared.
Ethan pointed at Rachel and the three men. "Stop slandering Mandy!"
