131. Cade

Cade

I lay there in the snow, not knowing what was going to happen to me. I was so tired. I had not eaten or slept in days, and my body was tired of it. Not having much water did not help at all. I had brought some with me but had not bothered to drink it. I was too angry to care about taking care of myself. I finally closed my eyes as I lay there in the snow.

I don't remember how long I lay there when I smelled the most divine smell. I knew I had to be in the Garden. Kaya was here, as well as my parents and everything was going to be alright now. I would be with my loved ones who were lost to this world. I would be able to tell the Goddess just how cruel she really was.

Then something wet hit my lips. It could not be water. No, that was for the living, and I was dead. I had to be. I couldn't live in the world with my mate dead, and my daughter would soon follow. I needed to be dead. I had to be with them. I didn't want to be without them. My eyes opened, and I saw Kaya. She looked beautiful, wearing something similar to what I had seen here the first time. I had made it. I was with her. "Kaya," I said.
She smiled down at me, her white teeth showing. "Come on, love, get up. There is someone who wants to meet you." She mind linked. Why would she be mind-linking? We were dead. She should be healed and should be able to talk and hear. I just stared at her. "Come on, Cade, I need you to drink this." She continued to mind-link me. Pushing the skin toward me. I took it as she was the one who offered it. "Drink, please." I did as she instructed. My throat was parched as I gulped down the water. My throat should not be this dry if I was dead.

But I knew I had to be. Kaya had died. There was no way I was alive. "You are dead." "It would seem that is not the case." She mind-linked me. I looked around, and sure enough, I was still in the North. Nothing but snow and a few trees surrounded me. "But," She just shook her head. "The Goddess sent me back." She mind-linked. I just stared at her. The Goddess had heard my plea. She had brought Kaya back to me. I just looked at her.

Kaya took off the pack she had on her back and set it down in front of me. I saw the tiny face of a baby. She looked like a doll. "This is Sol, our daughter." Kaya mind linked. I looked at the baby. She looked so peaceful, sleeping all bundled up. "Sol?" I said out loud. Kaya just nodded. The baby girl's head had dark black hair like her mother's. Her skin was lighter than Kaya's but still had a slight hue to it and was darker than my pale completion. "I have to feed her, but maybe you could hold her after you eat." I nodded.

I couldn't believe it. The Goddess gave me my mate back. Not only that, but she had ensured that my daughter was happy and healthy. How could I have cursed her? Robert came around and handed me some jerky, which I took and began to stuff my face. I had no idea how hungry I really was. I watched as Kaya unstrapped Sol and brought her to her chest to feed her. I was still a little in shock. Kaya mind linked me. "Why are you out on the tundra?" "I was looking for Sol. I felt you die, and well, I couldn't let her too." She looked at me quizzically, trying to figure out exactly what I was planning on doing once I had found them.

I felt around in the link, and she was there. She was linked to me again. Our bond to our pack and our mate bond was still intact, and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Robert sat down on the snow, and I looked at him. He looked worse for wear. He looked like he had gone through hell. "Robert, thank you," I said. "It was my honor." I gave him a half smile. He had stayed with Sol and Kaya. He had not abandoned them when all hell broke loose. I was so grateful that The Goddess and Robert saved and cared for my girls. I had a million questions, but those could be answered when we figured out what to do.

Most of Shadow Pack was still missing. As well as the Crescent Moon Pack. I needed to let Mark know what was happening. He had to know Kaya was alive. The pack would have felt her die and when she rejoined the link. Though I know they wouldn't believe it until I told them or until they saw her for themselves. Kaya finished feeding Sol and then handed her over to me. I took her carefully. She was so tiny. I couldn't believe she was here and that we had a little girl. "I know you wanted a boy, but." Kaya started to mind-link me. "No, she is perfect." Kaya smiled, and I looked down at the little baby, who now had her big brown eyes open, looking at me.

"Sol, I am your dad. I love you so much. Do you know you have the best mom in the whole world?" The baby just continued to look at me. Obviously, she had no idea what I was saying. "You know I wanted a boy, but now I have something much better. I have you, and you know what? You are going to be the best alpha that Shadow Pack has ever had." I knew it from the moment I held her. I would give her everything I had, and that included Shadow Pack. Traditions be dammed Shadow Pack would be the first Southern Pack to have a woman lead them.
