We met with the pack before training. Kaya would also be training, and Becky would hold Sol as Kaya trained. I stood there with Kaya next to me and Mark on the other side. All of us in front of the pack that had remained here. I told them what our plans were going forward. I tried to assure them that everything was okay. When I got to the part where I told them about Sol. There was a lot of surprise from the pack.
No one outright stood up to challenge me, though. Which I was thankful for. When someone challenged an Alpha, it was always to the death. I didn't want to have to kill any of my pack, but I would have. I was determined to have my daughter as the next alpha. Everyone gathered around to meet the child. All of them cooed over how cute she was. Kaya had to nurse, and everyone gave her enough space to do her thing.

When she finished, Kaya handed Sol to Becky, who sat down in one of the stands of the training arena. Kaya was going to be training with me. She had not done much in the last seven months; she had instructed little ones until she couldn't anymore. I mind-linked Kaya. "You feeling rusty." "No, I am ready. I have been ready for months, but you know growing our daughter prohibited that." I smirked at her. The others had all paired off, and then I turned to Kaya as we took an open spot on the field.

She squared her shoulders. I signed "Ready." Her response was a high kick to the side of my head, and I could swear I saw her smile. I charged at her, which she dogged. I moved to hit her, but she deflected, going low and kicking my shin. She then ran from me. Why was she running? Then she turned back and charged at me. Mid-run, she shifted before my eyes. Leaped right onto my chest, knocking me over.

Then her long pink tongue came out and licked the side of my face. "Gross Kaya." I mind-linked. She then licked me again. I shifted below her, and our wolves got up and began to circle one another. She lunged first, going for the throat. I moved, missing her small jaws. I turned around and nipped her in the tail. She ripped it free from my mouth. Her paw came up and swiped me in the face, drawing blood. I growled at her. My inner wolf was starting to take over when he was unleashed it was hard to reel it back in. I went to bite her in the side, but she swiped her small wolf's body, so she bit into my rump.

I wiped around and bit into her neck. I could feel myself losing control. She had gotten in a bite, and my alpha instincts kicked in. My more muscular wolf wanted to dominate other wolves. I tossed her wolf to the side. She was so small. All the wolves in the North were. I could see blood on her white fur from where I had bitten her. She didn't lay there, though. She got right up and charged me. I was facing her, my wolf ready to take another chunk from her.

All of a sudden, Kaya was flying over me. She had leaped into the air. Her body twisted over top of me, and then I felt all four of her paws dig into my side. I growled and thrashed around, hoping to shake her from me. Her paws went deeper into me, keeping a firm grip. Then, I felt her teeth bite into the space above my tail. I growled, but she would not let go. Then I did the only thing I could: I flipped onto my back, crushing her beneath my weight.

I hated to do it, but nothing would have gotten her off of me. I knew my wolf was much more extensive, and it could inflict some damage from my sheer size compared to her. She whimpered, and I moved. I looked down, and her wolf just lay there. I was worried I had hurt her. Kaya shifted before me, lying limply in the grass. "You crushed me." Kaya mind linked. "You wouldn't get off. I am sorry, did I hurt you too bad?"

"Well, I am sore, but I think I will be fine. How did I do, though?" "You are good at fighting Kaya. That was never a concern of mine. I remember seeing you in action the night we met. You kicked Annalise's ass." Kaya smirked as she mind-linked. "That bitch deserved it. Still does; if I see her, if we end up fighting, she is mine." "You want her dead?" "I don't think it would be the worst thing to happen to our species." I threw my head back and laughed.

I noticed then that Kaya and I had an audience. They had been watching us fight. I only now realized that Kaya was lying on the ground naked, and I was standing over her in wolf form. I growled at the pack. I didn't want them looking at her. Not that they had not seen her before, but for some reason, this seemed like a private moment for us to have a conversation. The pack backed off. I minded linked one of the deltas to grab a towel or something so Kaya could get covered.

"Kaya just lay there and rest. I am sure being crushed is no fun." "You would be right." Kaya lay there looking at the sky. She looked exhausted. There was some blood on her from the few places I had bitten her, and I knew I had blood on me as well from her claws and bite. I also knew the exhaustion was partly due to her lack of sleep. She never got more than two hours since she found me on the tundra in the North. One of the deltas came up behind me, offering me a large robe.

I had no idea where he had found one, but I was grateful. Kaya took the robe and wrapped it up. I offered her my hand, helping her up. Kaya moved slowly. I mind-linked Becky. "Can you carry Sol back to the packhouse for us?" She nodded, and then I walked to the packhouse with Kaya in her robe and me in my wolf form.
