So, she would be here in minutes, and Cade expected me to meet her and her father when they arrived. I didn't see why I needed to be present when she came. I didn't understand why her father wanted Cade to find her a match.

I sat there looking at my clean plate. Then Cade mind linked me. It was time. I followed him out to the front of the packhouse. Two SUVs pulled up. The door flew open, and I saw a beautiful woman emerge from the car.

It was Annalise. Following behind her was a tall man. He was not particularly good-looking, but his stature was immense. She walked right in front of us. She went in to give Cade a hug, but I growled, showing my displeasure. I stepped forward. If she puts a hand on my mate, I will rip it off.

The man came up next. I figured he was talking but didn't look at his face to see what he was saying. I had my eyes on Annalise. I didn't want to allow her to touch what was mine. After a few moments, I watched as they walked into the packhouse. I followed behind them and watched as Cade showed them to their rooms. He then looked at me. He began to speak, and I read his lips.

"I am going to host a huge gathering. We will have a tournament during the day and the following evening a huge ball. I plan to invite many alphas who want to marry Annalise. Then, I will see who is a good fit and present them to her and her father. What do you think?"

I thought about it for a minute. This seemed like a good idea, But I needed to figure out what to make of the tournament. I mind-linked him. "What is a tournament, and why are you thinking we should have one?" "Oh, um, a tournament is where various packs unite and fight one another. to show their strength." "Do the Luna and Alpha fight."

"No, just pack warriors. It shows how strong a pack is. As for why we should have one, it is an effective way to show Annalise and her father who the strong contenders are. It is suitable for making alliances, and wolves always like to get together to show off. " "Well then, it is a good idea. When would we hold a tournament?"

"I will send out my invitations tomorrow, which will probably be held in a few weeks." "I say do it. But we should invite Crescent Pack. Not to marry Annalise, but if you said it is for making alliances, it might be good for them to come. " "I will think about it." Why would he need to think about it? He should want my home pack to be here. They were good fighters, and it would be good for other packs to know that though we don't come down often, we are still here.

"I have found a guard for you." "A guard. Like as in one." "Well, there was only one that fit your parameters." "His name is Robert. He just passed warrior training." "What happened with his mate?" "She died. It was a bear; they had just found each other. Once they found each other the following day, she went to pick wildflowers, and a bear showed up.” "Oh."
"Yeah, but he will be loyal. We will swear him to you as soon as possible. And since he is your only one, he will be moved to our floor. In the room next to ours." "Is that necessary?" "Yes, they split the duty with two, and one always watches you. But, with only one, he will need to sleep, and he will sleep as close as possible." "Okay."

I didn't see a reason to argue. He was determined to ensure I had a guard, so I figured I would let him. Thinking of what Helen said, I looked at Cade. I mind-linked him again. "When is training?" "It should still be going on."

I turned and began to jog to the training field. I was going to prove myself Like Helen had said. Cade was falling behind me. When we got to the training field, I saw it was empty. I looked at Cade and connected with his mind. "We must have missed them. Why does it matter? I know you know how to fight."

"I wanted to show them what I could do. You know, prove myself." "Oh, well, you could go to the high school. They have training in about an hour. There are some warriors there. And what better way to prove yourself than in the eyes of the youth. If you want, we can walk there. If we walk instead of drive, it should arrive in time for training." I nodded. We began to walk. We didn't feel the need to hold a conversation. It was just lovely to be in each other's company. We approached a large building. I had never seen a school. In the north, we had education, but it was not in some buildings.

I mind-linked Cade. "Why is it so big?" "We have a lot of children in the pack." "So, this is just for the pack kids." "Yeah." "How many kids are there?" "I couldn't give you an exact number as more are always born, but a lot. Come on."

He grabbed my hand, and we walked around to the back of the building, where there was a large field and some places to sit on the side and watch. I looked and saw Mark on the field. We slowly approached. He began to speak, and I read his lips.

"Luna Alpha, nice to see you. I didn't know you were coming. Here to inspire the kids." I moved my face to look at Cade's mouth as he responded. "Yeah, Luna wanted to prove herself." Mark's mind linked with me. "So, you want to show them what the north is made of, I take it." "Yes." "Sounds good to me. Do you want to run the training today?"
"Are there any rules? Like things I shouldn't do." "No, you have free reign to do as you please. I mean, you are the Luna, after all." Just then, I saw the kids coming out of the high school. I watched them as they all seemed to congregate around us.
