Cade

Kaya had to be sedated for three days. She finally came out of her fit on the third day, and I sat next to her in one of the rooms on the Alpha floor. "Kaya, how are you feeling." I mind-linked her, "I am sad; that is how I feel." "Understandable." I knew she was still upset. I was curious to see if she wanted to go back to our old room or if she wanted to start fresh in our new room. "How did someone get in there? We have the heavy security doors?" "We assume the window, but we don't know for sure, and no, we don't know who did it. Only our pack knows about how important dens are."

"It had to be Howi. I just know it." I nodded. It may be one of the alphas. It could have been Howi or Jack or any of them. But I still needed to find out how they would have found out about the den thing. "Do you want to move back into our room, or would you like to start in a new room?" She sat there a minute thinking. "Is the smell on our clothes out of the room?" She linked me. "Yes, I had them industrially clean the room. They had to use some chemicals to remove some of the mess, but the window has been open for two days, so the smell should be gone." "Let's move back into our room then."

"Okay." I have been working on my sign language with Saka, Len, and Kimi for the last few days. They had been coming by a lot to check on their friend. Nieva had also been using the satellite phone daily to check-in. I signed to her, "I love you." She smiled and signed it back, and then I grabbed hold of her face and kissed her. I helped her out of bed, and we walked down the hall to our room. There was no more security on the door. She mind-linked me, "Why no security?" "Well, if people can break in, what is the point of having security. Plus, I will not have any alphas here again. If I do, we will have warriors positioned on this floor and outside the building watching the exterior."

She nodded and linked, "None of our pack would do this." "No, they wouldn't. They are in love with you, just like me." Kaya blushed. We walked into the room, which was bare except for a very hard mattress I had moved in. I told her, "I got a mattress like the one we had. Undoubtedly we will need to replace our clothes as they were trashed. As well as the sheets and well everything." "My furs, they were ruined." She began to cry again. I pulled her into me and let her cry into my chest.

"It will all be okay," I said. When she didn't respond, I realized I had done it again. I spoke, thinking she would hear me. "Kaya," I mind-linked her. "Yes," "Look at it this way: we can decorate the room however you like. We can get sheets you love and some other things. And I know if you want to replace the furs, you can. But your friends have been working on tanning the hides you guys got when you hunted for the tournament." "But I will never have another polar bear hide." "I know, but maybe you could get another bear hide." "I am not crazy; I am not facing a bear again." I nodded.

"I assume you want the same toiletries we had?" "Yes." "Well, that is good. Kimi went with Helen and got you the stuff you like to replace the old stuff. Why don't you go on in and take a bath? If you want, I will go with you to replace your clothes. I need to replace my wardrobe as well. I only had a few things that were not in the room but in my office, and I need suits and jeans and boots. They trashed everything."

"When are we going." "Today, if you are up for it. I really do need clothes." "Today is fine." "Good, Kimi left you a pair of jeans and a sweater. I put it on the counter in the bathroom." "What am I wearing?" "One of Helen's nightgowns." She nodded. I could tell she was really depressed. Nieva had told me she would be upset for a while. I knew this could happen but did not know it would be so extreme. She was definitely not happy. Kaya gave me a kiss and went into the bathroom. Mark mind linked me. "How is she doing." "She is sad but not in a fit, so that is good. We will go to the department store to get clothes, sheets, pillows, and whatever else we need or she wants. I was also thinking of some picture frames. I know someone got pictures of us at the balls, and I think getting those developed and put up in here might make the room more like home."

"Yeah, just mind link me the size of the frames, and I will get one of the gammas to print some out for you guys when you get home." "Thanks for everything." "When you get home, we have some information you requested on Daybreak Pack. We did a lot of digging, and it was kind of tricky because they are on the other side of the country, but James had the best people on it, and we have a whole history of the pack."

"Good to know. I am thinking tomorrow we can address that. Today, I just want to focus on Kaya and what she needs. Nieva said she will not be herself for a bit and to ensure she is doing things that make her happy. Tomorrow, she is going out hunting with her friends and Robert. So, while they are doing that, we can review that information. Anything else?" "Yes, Jack called." "What did he want?" "He wanted to invite you and Kaya to visit his pack." "Why the hell would we do that?"

"He said we were so good at hosting him he wanted to host you guys. I don't think he was responsible for your den. Also, Charlie called to ask Kaya about the solstice so he could plan what to do since it was only two months away. I told him what happened, and he was very concerned you must call him back. Let him know Kaya is alright." "Thank you for handling everything the last few days; what is the pack saying?" "They are very worried. They had no idea dens were so important. Still, after so much education, a few of them started trying to make their homes into a den, which is interesting. They thought if the Luna took it so seriously, so should they. It is not everyone but a few."

"Again, thank you, Mark; you really are the best beta." "Aww, Shucks, you are too sweet." "Shut up. Can you have a car pulled around and put out front of the packhouse." "Yeah, I will tell one of the Gammas to do it." "Thanks." I cut the link and went into the bathroom to find Kaya crying in the bathtub. I took a deep breath and walked over to her. "Kaya, it will all be okay; I promise you, nothing like this will happen again." "I trust you, Cade. I am just sad someone would do this, and to all of our things, not just our bed, it was everything." I nodded.
