Kaya
The first day of the tournament went by slowly. On the second day, we would be doing an endurance challenge. Saka was to compete, and I know I should be rooting for Shadow Pack. I was now their Luna, but I was rooting for Saka. The challenge could last days. Hopefully, it would go on until either the tournament was done or whoever was the last one standing.
The challenge was like the ones Cade chose for warriors. It was whoever could outrun the other. I knew Saka could go days without stopping. We had tracked together before. We didn't run the whole time, but I was sure he could have. I watched Cade's lips as he spoke. "This test is endurance. The contestants will run in human form until they no longer can or until the tournament is over. There will be no stopping for food or bathroom breaks."
I looked at all of the men lined up. We were at the arena. "You will run around the arena." I looked to see everyone wearing tennis shoes, but Saka was wearing no shoes at all. He was smart. He could have worn our leather shoes, but barefoot would be better on the ground like it was. The ground was taken care of in the arena, and he would do well to run on it barefoot.
Like some of the others, he wore no shirt. His crescent moon pack tattoo was down his back. All of them lined up, and then they took off. Kimi came up next to me. She signed. "Saka is going to win." "I know; the others don't know what it is like to be hungry and tired." "Are you competing?" "Yeah, tomorrow, Len and I are both going to compete." I was glad my friends had come. It was important for others to know just how strong the North was.
"Kaya?" "Yeah?" I signed. "Last night was horrible." "What do you mean?" "A guy from other packs, well, he tried some stuff." I stared at her. "What do you mean? What did he do?" "It is nothing." "Kimi, it is not anything. Tell me what he did." She pointed to one of the men who was cheering on his friend. "He grabbed me and touched my ass. He also kissed me." "He what?" She looked away; she was embarrassed.
In the North, we didn't kiss anyone other than our mate or a familiar kiss like that of a parent. All kinds of physical affection was shared between mates only. "I pushed him away and left. Do you think my mate will hate me now?" "Hell no! You didn't want to be touched like that. He will understand. How dare he touch you without your permission." "I don't think they respect things like that here." I stood up and stormed off to where the guy stood.
Cade had told Shadow Pack that any attraction between my friends and them they could only do anything if my friends explicitly permitted them to do so. He knew how we saved a lot for our mates. Kissing, sex, and any sexual touch were only for mates. Hugs could be among friends, but that was it. I was mad that someone had come here and disrespected my friend and in my own home. And here he was, acting like he didn't do anything wrong.
I stood in front of him. His lips started to move, but I didn't bother to read them. I punched him right in the face. He staggered back. He put his arms up to block me but was not swinging at me. I kicked him in the side, and he did not block it. I moved and hit him in the knee, and he fell. I crawled on top of him and started whaling on him. His arms stayed up, protecting his face. But that left him exposed in other places.
Suddenly, I was ripped from the man. I snarled. I felt Cade in my mind. "Kaya, stop." "No, this asshole deserves it." "Kaya, what did he do?" "He kissed and grabbed Kimi without her permission; the asshole must be taught a lesson." Cade held me close to him. The guy was talking to Cade, and I watched his lips move. "What is the problem? I just grabbed her ass and kissed her." I tried to rip out of Cade's hold to get another go at him. But Cade held me tightly. His mouth moved again. "Well, how was I supposed to know the north had fridged females," I growled, and his eyes shot to me. "I thought she couldn't hear?" "She reads lips really well."
The guy made a face and then stormed off. I mind-linked Cade. "Where is he going?" "I told him he is not allowed to be in the presence of Kimi, and she is here, so he can not be." "He deserves more punishment." "Kaya, he is not in my pack. What I did was the best I could do. His alpha, there is no way he would punish him more. It was just a kiss and a butt grab." "That is assault; she didn't want it." "I know, and I get that. But in the South, a kiss is not anything; guys grab butts of strangers, it really is not anything."
"Well, what about you? Do you feel this way?" "No, of course not. I mean, I do think you guys are sheltered, but." I didn't want to listen to him anymore, so I blocked the connection and started to walk away. He came up to me when I was far away from everyone else. I didn't want to listen to him. He grabbed my face, so I was forced to look at his lips as he spoke. "Kaya, I am sorry, but you guys feel different about many things than we do in the South."
I mind-linked him. "Oh, you don't appreciate that you are the only one I have kissed. The only one I let between my legs. The only one I let touch my body? I didn't realize that was a bad thing. Because I am pretty sure you like being the only one, but I am just sheltered and don't get it. My friend and hell, even me, should let anyone do whatever they want to our bodies because that is what you guys do in the South."
He kept his hands on my face so I would watch his lips. "Kaya, you know I like that. You know I like the fact that I am the only one. But not everyone feels that way. A kiss is just a kiss down here." "Fine, so if I kissed anyone, it would mean nothing to you." "Fuck, that is not what I am saying. We are mated; it would be really wrong if you did that. But unmated wolves, it is perfectly fine." "Well, this time, it was not. Kimi asked if her mate would hate her? So no, it is not fine, and I think the South is backward and shows no respect for their mates. I mean, look at this."
I motioned my arms around. "This whole thing is to have someone pair up with someone they are not supposed to be with. It is fucking ridiculous and disrespectful to the goddess." "I am sorry, Kaya; I don't want to fight with you. I think it was wrong what he did. Kimi did not want that kind of attention, and he should not have crossed her boundaries. I did the best I could to fix the situation." I looked right at him and spoke clearly in my head. "Our children will be raised as if they were in the North. I will not have them act like the South in any way." Then, I pushed past him to comfort Kimi.
