"I am going out with Helen now." Kaya mind linked me. "Hold on." I stepped out of the shower. I grabbed the towel wrapping it around my waist. She was just standing there staring at me. I took her in too. I had not ever seen her in anything other than the handmade clothes that were unique to the northerns. But these clothes were unlike the other ones she wore, highlighting her curves. Her figure was much too alluring to not pull her to me.

I began to kiss her neck. She moaned a little bit. I grabbed her face and kissed her soft lips. I knew she needed to go through, and although I wish I could stay wrapped up in her all day, I knew she needed to get going. So, I pulled away. Before I said anything, she mind linked me again. "Please don't let anyone in our room. No cleaning ladies, no one, and I don't want anyone touching our things."

"Why?" I responded. "It is a den thing. I will explain when I get back." I had to wonder what this den thing was. She had spoken a bit on it in the north but nothing in too much detail. I was interested to know what the thing was. I smiled and spoke as she read my lips. "Alight, you better get going." She turned, and I saw how the jeans hugged her ass. I couldn't help myself and smacked her bubble but hard.

"I like those jeans." I mind-linked. She turned and gave a mischievous smile. Then she turned back around, and I heard our door close. I hope she would have fun. Most girls, at least the ones I know, liked to shop. I hurried and got ready. I knew there was a lot to do today. After all, I had taken a week off. It was amazing seeing the way the Northerns lived. I had no idea that people lived like that. I mean, everything was made from things they found or hunted. There are homes made from whale bones and various skins of animals as was their clothing. Their tools were all homemade. Everything about them was intentional. I had to admire them. They were fierce fighters. I had witnessed this from Kaya. It was unreal how she fought. It was like the north lived as indigenous people did thousands of years ago.

And the whale hunt. Quill said they go out as often as possible throughout the warmer months and bring in about 10 a year. I was amazed by the ingenuity of the North. It was just an eye-opening experience. I finished getting ready and made my way down to the dining hall. The food was already on the table, and I began to eat. Mark soon joined me. "Helen was super excited about taking Kaya out today." "Well, she is quite the shopper." "Tell me about it." "So, what do you want me to tackle today." Mark asked.

"If you could go over the investments this morning, and then discus them at lunch." "Anything specific?" "Yeah, a proposal was brought to me before we left; I had not had a chance to look it over. You could see if you think it is a good investment." "What are you going to do this morning?" "I have to make a call to Jack." "You didn't call him before we left." "No." "Well, you putting it off would have made it worse."

"I know, but what difference does it make. I am not marrying his daughter. I met my mate, so our agreement is null and void." "I hope he sees it that way." Mark said with a look of disbelief on his face. "What other choice does he have? I am mated and marked." "Yeah, I guess you're right." "Still, you will lose the Black Night pack." "Yeah, I know that, but honestly, if I want that pack, I will take that pack. That marriage with Annalise was just easier." "But do you want that pack?" Mark questioned with a raise of his brow.

"Maybe we will see. Right now, I am fine with just the size of the Shadow pack. We have brought it back.." Mark went on to confirm my sentiments "Seeing as the state of it was almost nonexistent when your parents died, I would say we did very well." I nodded and then spoke again letting a little of how much I didn’t want to talk to Jack show through when I said. "I got to go get this done." I got up, left the table, and headed to the office. Sitting in my leather chair behind the Mahagony desk. I pulled out my phone and dialed Jack. After a moment, I heard the line pick up. "Cade, it is about time you called me back." "Yes, sorry, I have been busy." I said. "So, I have heard." "Now you want to tell me why you have abandoned my daughter."

"Well, I am sure Annalise told you I found my mate." "Yes, she told me. I don't see why that matters; we had a deal." I rubbed on of my temples when I spoke next. "We had an agreement that hung on the fact I had not found my mate. But seeing as I have found her, I believe our agreement is no longer valid." "I demand you uphold your word."

"I gave you my word when I had no mate. You know that. I don't think she would even want me now that I am marked." "I don't know about that." "You know she is of no interest to me now. In all truth, even before I found Kaya, I thought about calling off this arrangement." "Well, you didn't, and you can't now."

"Jack, I hate to break it to you, but I can't have your daughter. I have a mate and am marked as is she." "You could still have Annalise. Just marry her and keep your mate." "What?" "You heard me marry my daughter, and you can keep your mate as your plaything." I was dumbfounded he was even saying this it was ridiculous I questioned what he had just said, "You cannot be serious." "Come on, Cade. I heard she is deaf. How good of a Luna will she make?" "So, I take it you have talked with Bryan."

"I had to know who was responsible for hurting my daughter so severely. You know she was out for a whole day." "I didn't know it was that long. I didn't stick around to find out. But as you can see, Kaya is not some weak wolf." "I hear she is from the north." "Yes, why does that matter?" "She is obviously a savage. I mean the way she beat Annalise after passing out." I saw the fight replay in my head. It was true Kaya had lost control in the fight, but Annalise had been the one in the wrong. Kaya had simply put her in her place.

"Look, I am sorry your daughter was hurt, but what did you think would happen if I ever found my mate. That she would be okay with your daughter. You know mates are possessive." "I excepted you to defend my daughter against a savage." "Hey, you told me your daughter could handle herself. Look, I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I will not and cannot marry your daughter." I was firm on this and Jack would just have to understand.

"Well, at the least, you could help find her a new match." "You want me to what?" "Find her another match. It is the least you could do." I thought about it for a second. I could do that. It was a good compromise. I knew of one alpha in particular that may work. He had his mate die before they had marked each other. So, I knew he had wanted to find someone but didn't want to take away anyone's mate to do so.

Still, it always boggled my mind that Jack was okay with Annalise marrying someone, who was not fated to be with her. I knew she had rejected the mate she had because he was not a beta or alpha, and she didn't think he was alpha material. I knew of several packs who had done that when the alpha of a particular pack had no sons. It was not like packs down here let a woman lead alone. That is why it surprised me that the North did things so differently. For goddess's sake, they even had the men leave the pack when they found a mate, not the other way around.

"Yes, Jack, I will do that." "Great, I will send her to stay with you till you find somewhere appropriate for her to go. This way, you could entertain possible candidates." I didn't like this idea at all. "I don't think that is a good idea, Jack." "This is a compromise. You owe me after you spurned my daughter. " "I owe you nothing." I retorted. "Cade, you have slighted me and my pack. If you don't do this, I will be forced to take action." He could not be serious. "Take action. You know if you fight us, you will lose."

"True, that may be the case. But we might win. And even if we don't, you will lose many of your wolves. There was validity to what he was saying. I thought about it for a moment. I knew this would be the best solution for now. I did not want to loose any of our pack. We hard worked hard to rebuild it over the years. "Alright, she can come here, but she better stay out of me and my mate's way. I will not be responsible if she pushes Kaya to do something, so I advise you to talk to her about boundaries." "Good, I will come with her so we can chat in person about a match's qualifications. Then I will leave it to you." "Fine." "Alright, I will call you when we are on our way. It should only take a few days "Bye." I said and quickly hung up.

This was a nightmare. How on earth was I going to explain this to Kaya. I knew this would be a problem. I would have to find her a match and fast. I mind-linked Mark. We needed to put our heads together to find Annalise a good match, so she would be here only briefly.
