When we finally finished for the day, it was dinner time. We both headed to eat. Unlike the Crescent Moon Pack, the whole pack did not eat together. Robert, as well as Kaya and her friends, were not eating. "I take it the hunt was successful," Saka responded. "With Kaya's nose, we always get an animal." She blushed, reading his lips. I smirked. Looking at Robert, I asked. "So, how did you do?" Len cut in. "Cade, he got the kill shot," Saka added. "He stole my heart." Robert laughed. "Yeah, I ate the heart." "And Robert, how did it taste?" "Surprisingly good. But I am so dam full we ate more than three meals." Helen then spoke.
"Okay, I want to hunt now. I mean, I have seen Kaya in action, and honestly, I wish I could do that." I looked at Kaya. She looked like she was a little less distant. Kimi added, "Helen, we will do a girl's hunt in a few days." Helen's face lit up. "You are not hunting without us, Kimi." Len said and went on, "Plus, it won't be all girls. Robert will be there." Kimi rolled her eyes. I spoke. "Kimi, when you go out for another hunt, count Mark and I in. We can all hunt together." Kaya looked at my lips as I spoke, and her face broke into a huge grin. Then she signed. Saka was the first to respond. "Kaya, a fucking bear, are you kidding me. They are monsters right now. They are looking for a den." She lit up.
I mind-linked her. "So we are hunting a bear?" "Yes, we will have eight of us. More than enough for a bear, and I want a new hide." Kimi added speaking and signing at the same time. "Kaya, they don't know how to hunt. How do we expect them to take on a bear? They won't know how to avoid the claws and the bite; Goddess, you know what damage they can do." Helen looked white as a sheet and said, "I don't want to get a bear." Mark added, "Yeah, I think that may be out of our wheelhouse, at least for now." Kaya's face fell.
I looked at her, and she read my lips as I said, "In the spring, we will get a bear, okay." She nodded. Len added. "We will get one before we head home, okay." She signed, "Okay." I looked at Robert. "So tell me, was it what you thought it would be?" "Alpha, it was better. I felt close to the earth, and it is hard to explain when I ate. It was like I was wild and the awesome howling, too." Mark quipped. "That would explain what we heard earlier." We had heard wolves howling earlier in the day; that was the five of them. Dinner went by fast. George told jokes, and everyone was laughing. It was nice to just be and not have to worry about anything.
