How could he bring that bitch here? I mean, war was never good, but Annalise here. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I also didn't know why she needed to marry someone; why can't she find her mate. I had never heard of someone not wanting to find their mate.

It was a blessing from the moon goddess herself. Why someone would disregard a gift like that was beyond me. I sat there eating some breakfast burrito. I had never heard of it, nor had I had one. It was okay; I liked the eggs. I had only had a few eggs, which were rare in the Arctic Circle.

So, it was nice to have those. They had to be the first thing I liked to eat besides the moose from last night. I didn't understand why everything had to be cooked. And all the meat had a funny taste to it. Then again, I am more sensitive to that thing than most because of my heightened sense of taste. I kept eating the burrito. Helen ate hers. It didn't take long for her to mind-link me. "Can I ask you a question?" "Yeah." "Do you wish you could hear?"

"Umm, I don't think about it. When I was a kid, before I could mind link, I did, but now I am not bothered by it. I don't like to think about what happened to cause it, as it was just a horrible and frightening experience. Why do you ask?" "I was just wondering." "Do you wish I could hear?" "I don't think so. You seem pretty competent without it. It doesn't affect you like I thought it might. " "What do you mean, you thought."

"Well, Alpha, before we went to the north to get you, he talked to the pack about you. I had not met you yet as I didn't go to the party and when he explained you were deaf, I thought you may be weak. But after seeing the way you took down that moose. I am at a loss as to why I thought you would be weak. Not to mention the way you grew up. In the north, that had to make you tough. I don't know anyone that could survive, let alone thrive in that environment."

"Do you think the pack sees me as weak, and I want an honest answer?" "To be honest, probably. I don't mean that in a hurtful way; it is just you are not from here. The pack knows very little of the north; nobody really does. And you're from there, and honestly, you are just a huge question in everyone's mind."

"But people got to know me last night?" "Yeah, and it went well, but one meeting isn't the same as proving yourself to the pack. "How do you think I could show them?" This is something I like about Helen. She always spoke her mind. Even if it was something you didn't want to hear. She could have easily let me think the pack was completely comfortable with me, but she told me they may be apprehensive.

"We have pack training tomorrow. It would be one way to show that you are a good fighter. If nothing else, they will see your strength. Also, if you throw yourself into the role of Luna, that will help." "What do you mean?" "Well, just show us how you fight in the north. Mark told me you kicked Annalies ass. I would have loved to see that she is a real bitch." I smiled at the remark.

"No, I mean the part where you said to throw myself into the role of Luna. What did you mean?" "Oh, I mean, just really get into it. Like today, we are going to see some people in the pack. Devote yourself as much as possible to help in any way you can. After all, that is what makes a good Luna. The more time you spend with the pack, the more you will grow to love them. It is instinct." "Instinct?" "Yeah, now that you are mated to the alpha, the more time you spend with your pack, the more you will feel protective of them. Like a mom and her kids." "Oh, how do you know all of this." "It is just common knowledge." It wasn't to me, but it was all good to know. I was learning as I went along.

"I like that you tell me how things are, no bullshit with you, and I like it. I was not raised to bullshit, and you are straightforward." "Thanks, Luna. My mother told me I shouldn't just speak what comes into my mind. But, I never did get the hang of keeping things inside me." "Well, I like it. You are pretty great."

"Thanks. You are great too, but the words Bad Ass come to my mind when I think of you." "Oh yeah, why is that?" "The moose. The way you killed it. The fact you ate the huge heart right after the kill. The way you butchered it. You didn't even wince. Despite being grossed out, I have a new view of you. You may be tiny, but you are a badass." "I am not tiny. Everyone here is just giants." "Ha, no, you are small."

We began to laugh. It didn't take us long to finish our food, and then we decided to walk into town to meet with the family who needed to meet with me. As we approached the house, Helen's mind linked with me. "There is a lot of screaming coming from the house." I was glad she told me, seeing as I couldn't hear them.

"What are they yelling about?" "Seems to be a mom yelling at her son about his attitude." We approach the house, and Helen knocks. It takes a few minutes until a tall blond woman stands in the door frame. She begins to speak, and I read her lips. "OH, Luna Helen, I am glad you are here. Maybe you could knock some sense into my son; please come in." Helen was about to enter their house, but I grabbed her arm to stop her. I didn't want to go into someone's home. That was their den and off-limits.

I mind-linked Helen. "We don't have dens here; it is fine." I reluctantly entered the house. She led us into some sort of sitting room. Her son was now sitting in the room with a scowl. He didn't want to be here. The woman looked at me so I could see her lips move.

"This is my son Tyler." I nodded at the boy. I could see he was old enough to have his wolf. It was a relief that I could communicate with him using mind link. "So, what is the problem?" I ask over the link. "Luna, he keeps getting into fights with this kid, Connor, and he won't tell me why they are fighting. Neither of the boys will explain themselves. But they won't stop. I don't know what to do at this point." I mind-linked Tyler.

"Want to tell me why you are fighting?" "No, I'd rather not." I mind-linked the women again. "What do you want me to do?" "I want to get to the bottom of this nonsense. I want them to stop fighting all the time. "Alright, I can do that." I mind-linked Helen. "Make sure that Tyler and Conner meet me behind the packhouse in the next fifteen minutes. They will need to bring shovels."

She nodded, and I knew Helen was relaying the message. The women's mind linked me. "What, why, Luna?" "I am doing what you asked. I am fixing the problem." I then got up and exited the house. I knew exactly how to remedy this problem. It was done in the north to fix fights amongst the kids in the pack. Helen caught up to me. Just then, I felt Cade mind linking me. "Kaya, when you finish what you are doing, can you meet me in my office? There is some stuff I got to talk to you about."
