98. Cade
Cade
Kaya and her friends were all sitting around the massive fire they had built. It was as big as the one they always kept burning when they lived in the North. I was next to my mate as we listened to Saka tell the story of his first hunt. He was signing as he talked so Kaya could know what he was saying. "Then I came upon a group of reindeer; I had to do the formation we used to hunt when there is a herd all by myself. It was a long chase with no one to corner the creature."
I looked around at my pack, which was engrossed in his story. Everyone who was here was in high spirits. Those from the North were still drinking and far too gone. Half the things Len and Kimi said were in their native language. My pack was no better. They were just as drunk. The little kids were all in bed, so the only ones up were the ones who could drink.
Kaya had practically tried to drown me in alcohol, and I was just as drunk as the rest of them. I knew I should worry about everyone in the pack being inebriated, but I couldn't. I was feeling so good it didn't make sense to care. Kimi sat next to Kaya. I had watched them laugh all day. I knew they were close, but how they actually knew each other surprised me. Sure, Saka and Len were her friends, but she and Kimi were closer.
Then, there was that northern bond they had. At one point, Saka, Len, and Kimi broke out in song in their native language and grabbed Kaya, and then they all locked arms and danced as the three of them sang. I had to admit they knew how to party. They smoked the rest of the sheesh they had brought. When it ran out, they were upset but laughed it off. I told them, "We can get you some marijuana, which is a lot like sheesh." Kaya gave me a big kiss at that news.
Kaya told me they had planted the plant of sheesh before it started to snow, so we would have an abundance of it in the spring. But in the meantime, she would use the marijuana. It made me laugh that they had all been so sad when their plant ran out. I could have sworn I saw Len tear up. I also watched how Len and Saka couldn't keep their hands off their mates. I knew the feeling I had been touching Kaya all night. Mark leaned in and said, "The North sure as hell knows how to have a party. I can't feel my face." I burst out laughing. He was drunk. "What, it is cold out here. I don't care about the fire." "Isn't alcohol supposed to warm you up, how are you cold you drank well a lot."
"I did not! Our friends from the North now they drank a lot." I laughed as Kaya and Kimi were passing a bottle back and forth between themselves. I seriously had no clue how they drank alcohol like water. Robert was laughing with Saka, who had his mate in his lap. I looked around and didn't see Jack. Some of his warriors were here, but he wasn't. Had he gone to bed? I mean, he was older. Maybe he had gotten tired.
Kaya crawled into my lap. "Alpha." She mind-linked me. "What are you doing?" "Well, right now, I am sitting in my alpha mate's lap. Then I think I am going to kiss you." she smiled. Then leaned in and kissed me with no abandon. It was not as smooth as it usually would be. It was wet and sloppy. Her hands fisted into my hair. She moaned loudly. She apparently did not care at all if we had an audience. Kaya moved her mouth to the side of my throat and began to kiss it and suck on it. My cock was straining in my jeans. When she pulled away, she smiled at me.
She had to feel I was aroused. She was sitting on top of me. I mind-linked her, "Can we go now. I want you under me." "Cade, we will go in a little bit. I want to stay out longer. Plus, I would feel bad just ditching Kimi. She has no mate and has been sad about it, and I want to be there for her." "Understood, but just so you know, it is going to be rough, and the whole pack will hear you when I fuck you." She smiled and gave me another kiss before scooting off me and back next to her friends. Kaya signed at Kimi, and they both looked at me and laughed. Mark asked me. "What were they laughing at?" "I have no idea."
Just then, Kaya stood. Was it her turn to tell a story? Kimi stood as well and shouted for music. I mind-linked someone to turn the music back on. We had music playing all day, but as the bonfires started, we turned off the music. Once it started, I saw Len and Saka grab their mates. Kimi went and grabbed Robert, and Kaya grabbed my hands. I felt her in my mind. She connected with everyone. "Grab a partner. We are going to dance around the fire."
The music started, and we all began to dance in a circular motion around the fire. I watched as she looked so much at ease. Her hair was braided with bands wrapped in them. Her face was youthful, and her mood was light. Then I heard it, and she let out a tremendous howl. It was louder than I had ever heard. Kimi, Saka, and Len all started to howl just as loudly. Everyone began to join in. When I let out my howl, everyone increased their own. I don't know, but the howls set off something else.
Everyone felt a powerful wave of energy. Kaya set off another howl, to which everyone answered. And as we all howled up at the sky again, a wave of power flew into me. "Kaya, what is that?" I mind-linked her. "It is the Goddess she is blessing us." "This happens every year?" "Yes, when we do winter solstice, she fills us with her power and blesses our land; now, stop trying to figure everything out and howl again. This time, you start it." I did as she said.
We howled for a good hour and continued to feel the Goddess flowing into us. Afterward, I had Kaya explain to the pack what had just happened. Everyone was super excited to have the Goddess bless us. We continued to drink, dance, and tell stories until the sun began to rise in the sky. "I am just going to run to the bathroom, and then you and I are going to go out and have some time alone in the snow, just you and me." She leaned down and kissed me. I smiled while I mind-linked her. "Hurry, I have been dying to have you all night."
