I sat there. It had been a week, and neither Kaya nor I had problems with our fingers from the tattoo. The ink stayed beneath the skin. Kaya had called it a success. Now, we needed to figure out what our pack tattoo was. She was anxious to add it to her current one on her back. I had held a competition in the pack as to who would have the best design, which was the one we would do.

Mark sat in the chair in my office. "We have changed a lot around here since you took Kaya as a Luna." He was right we had. The packhouse was almost only cooking meat Kaya had hunted with her friends. She aimed to make it so that everyone ate more wild meat. The little kids were learning more survival skills. The warriors were fighting better. Everyone was doing more than they had in the past. "Is that bad?" "No, definitely not. I think we have struggled to have a deep bond as a pack. You are a great alpha, and I know the people have always been loyal to you, but we have not had that camaraderie. I think it is because we started with so few werewolves from the original pack. Most of our numbers grew because we took in so many rogues."

He went on. "I think now that we have a Luna, and she is so involved in teaching and doing things together as a pack, it has made us all closer." I agreed with him. Since she started teaching things and settling disputes in the last few weeks, the pack seems to be much happier. "You know she was telling Helen that we should all have a pack meal at least once a week maybe more than once a week." "She has not said anything to me." "Maybe she and Helen are trying to figure out how to go about it." "I wouldn't be opposed to it.

"Jack called yesterday." "What did he want." I sneered. Why was he calling me at all? We had nothing to discuss. "He is coming with some warriors. He said he wanted Kaya to train them." "He is not coming here." I practically yelled. "I tried to tell him that, but he would not listen. He said he would be here in three days." My hands fisted into balls. I was getting tired of his antics. "I say we just kill him. He is annoying." Mark said. "I am considering it. I know that once he is no longer Alpha, it will be Howi, and something is wrong with him. If he has Jack's pack, he will have numbers, and I know he hates Kaya, so what would that mean?"

Mark shrugged his shoulders. "I guess we have to receive him while he is here. But I am going to make it clear: his warriors train with us. they are not getting private lessons with Kaya." "I agree; Jack seems too focused on her, and I don't know his angle." "I guess it will be good he will be here. Maybe we can find out what he wants with her." Mark's face changed. "I am just throwing an idea out there, but do you think he has been interested in her for more than a while?" "What do you mean?"

"Well, I mean, he wants time with her and has been complimenting her. Maybe he wants more than just her teaching." "You think he wants her to sleep with her?" "Well, I mean, this is Jack, and I am not saying I am attracted to Kaya, but she is pretty. He saw how she fought and well how she looks; maybe he wants to get with her. I don't know; he is just acting like he likes her more than an ally." I sat there thinking about it. "You really think he would try it with her?" "I don't know, but I would say he is definitely interested in her for what I don't know. It could be lust, but maybe it is other things we have no idea about."

I nodded. Maybe he was right, but that would be ridiculous. Jack knew we were mated. He knew that she had chosen to accept it. There was nothing there for him. Not to mention, he was ancient compared to her. Though age never stopped anyone. "Do you think I should tell Kaya about this?" I asked Mark. "I don't think that is necessary. I mean, Kaya can defend herself, not to mention she has Robert. She would never willingly let another man touch her." I knew that was true. Kaya was utterly loyal. I never had any doubt that her whole being belonged to me alone. It was the same way for her when it came to me. " Where do you think we should put Jack while he is here?" "He is going to insist on the packhouse. He is an alpha." "So I guess I will post people outside our door and around the packhouse to watch the room."

"Better to be safe than sorry. Kaya is still trying to work out what happened to her last den. I think if it happened again, it may kill her." I nodded. I knew Mark was right. We would need to take extra precautions. Kaya could not afford to be tormented like that again. "I have already picked a few people I think would be good guards." "Thanks. We can meet with you tomorrow morning, and you can pick the best for the job." "Thanks, Mark, for thinking ahead."

"I also think we should be able, since Jack is going to be here, to maybe figure out some things about Howie," I said, looking at him. "I mean, he is mated to his daughter, so he should know more than we do about him, and maybe we will discover something new. I think he is a threat, and it would be best to know everything we can about threats." Mark nodded.
