We were all sitting around a table. The day had been so much fun. Snowboarding was more fun than hunting, which surprised even me. I wish the whole of Crescent Moon Pack could do it. My sisters and my brother would have a blast. I couldn't wait to tell Quill about it. I was sure my friends had already told some back home. I knew they spent a lot of time talking to Nieva and to others back home. I sometimes talked to my family, but I wish they could experience what we did today.

Kimi signed, "Want to go look around this place?" The place we were sitting in was huge and made of huge logs. There was a massive fireplace burning in the vast room. Cade said this was a resort. Apparently, people came and stayed here for vacation. Which I had never even known was a thing. I had never taken a vacation. There was so much I had yet to experience. I never knew how small my world was growing up.

As much as I thought the Southerners had things backward, they sure knew how to have fun. "So, do you want to go look around?" "Yes." I signed back. Len and Saka wanted to look around with us. I signed at Cade, "We will be back. Just going to look around." "Okay." The four of us got up, leaving our drinks. Len signed. "Dinner sucked." I laughed. No matter how much time I spent down south, I never would get used to the food. I preferred not-so-crazy food.

We looked at the place. The floor was stone but had huge rugs covering it. Dead animals hung on the walls. Chandeliers were made of antlers. Kimi signed, "These people are so wasteful." She was looking up at the antlers holding the lights. "I agree." I signed. We continued to look around, and I noticed people were staring at us. It was like they had never seen anyone like us. It made me uncomfortable, like when I first got to shadow pack. I didn't like it. My friends seemed to not like it either. Len came into my mind. "What are they looking at." "Us." "Do we have five eyes or something?" I laughed.

We made our way back to the table. Helen and Mark were the only ones sitting there. Mark pointed to an area. "He is over there." He mind linked me. I followed where he pointed. When I saw him leaning against the counter, I saw a woman beside him. She put her hand on his arm and leaned in. My stomach fell. I didn't know what the feeling was. I had felt it with Annalise before, but I couldn't place the feeling. But I knew I didn't like it. I matched right up to them and shoved her hand off. The blond woman looked at me in confusion. She looked back at Cade, but I kept my eyes on her.

I could smell the alcohol from her breath as I read her lips. "You can't be serious. She is your wife?" I nodded, affirming what she said. I knew I was not his wife, but humans didn't understand what mates were. "She is ugly; I mean, look at her face. She has tattoos on it. And you are, well, way too good-looking to be with her." My body ignited in rage. I was not ugly. The goddess doesn't have ugly children. Cade must have said something because her face twitched, but I kept my eyes on her.

"Well, aren't you going to say anything?" Her lips said. My fist clenched. "Are you dumb or something?" Cade went to pull me away, but I couldn't help myself. I punched her right in the face. The women stumbled back. I went to hit her again, but Cade grabbed hold of me and pulled me away. He came into my mind. "Kaya, calm down. She is a human, and we don't attack humans." "She is a fucking bitch. She deserves it." "I agree, but we can't fight with humans. It draws too much attention to us. Now, calm down. I need you to calm down." "Why?"

"Because we need to talk to her and ensure she does not press charges. You just assaulted her, and that is illegal." "I don't know what that means?" "It means if we can't smooth this out, you will go to jail and have to go before a judge and a bunch of stuff we don't want to deal with." I looked at him. He was not making much sense. But I would trust him in this.

Come on, both of us took a deep breath and approached the woman I had punched. She had her head tilted back, steaming the bleeding from her nose. I was sure I broke it. Cade did all the talking, and she looked at me. I stared at her with hatred in my eyes. I read her lips as she said, "She is going to go to jail." I mind-linked Cade. Get me a pen and paper. He rushed to get me what I asked.

He handed me what I asked, and I wrote, "If you tell whoever is going to put me in jail, I swear by the goddess I will hunt you down and kill you when I get out of whatever punishment I get for your nose. You will wish I just broke your nose. When I kill you, it will be long and painful. I will carve you up like I do an elk, but it won't be a quick death. I won't grant you the mercy that I do the elk and kill you first." I handed the paper to her, leaned close to her ear, and growled low.

I could not hear myself, but I was sure it was not too loud. She looked at me horrified, and I gave her a look that I said I meant it. She visibly gulped, and I shot her a hateful look. "Okay, just leave me alone." I read her lips. I stood up and grabbed the paper I had written on. Wadding it up and throwing it in the trash. "What did you write her?" Cade mind linked. "What does it matter? She won't do anything now." "Kaya?" "I told her what would happen if she put me in jail." "You threatened her?" "She won't do anything now." "Kaya, you can't go around doing that."

"She needs to learn to respect when people are not interested." I mind-linked. I saw him smirk. "You were jealous." "I don't know what that is, but I didn't like the feeling of some women touching you, even if it is just your arm. It is the same feeling I felt when I saw Annelise with you in your office when I ripped her out of the window. " He smiled and pulled me to him. I read his lips. "There is no one but you, and there will never be anyone else." Then his lips crashed into mine, sending chills up my spine.
