62. Cade

Cade

The room was oozing power with all the Alphas and their Lunas crowded in. Robert followed behind Kaya, who, based on the look on her face, didn't like being in there either. I wonder if it was the power or the smell. I mind-linked her, "Are you okay?" "Yeah, just too many people in too small of a room. The stench is overwhelming," Everyone took a seat around the table. Robert stood behind Kaya.

Jack started to speak. "My daughter Annalise has chosen her mate; she has decided on Howi of Daybreak pack. I looked at Howi, who was smirking. "I don't plan to step down for a while, but I wanted to say this tournament has been successful, at least for my daughter, so Thankyou Alpha Cade. Another Alpha said, " So we are meeting to discuss the fights tomorrow."

"Yes, I personally want to see Luna Kaya fight." One of them said. They all looked at my mate, who was sitting there calmly. I quickly voiced my concerns. "It would be strange to have just one Luna fight. If Kaya is required to fight, so should the other Luna's." Some of the Alphas winced. They should not require just Kaya to fight if she was going to all other Luna's present should have to. Kaya linked me, "I will fight if they want that. I will show them my strength. If anything, they may think twice about wanting to fight with us in the future."

"We don't want to see the other Luna's fight, just Kaya." "Well, who would she be fighting?" "I will fight her." Howie offered. "No, she is not fighting an Alpha." "She fought Jack, and it was a draw. Why should she not fight another alpha again?" Kaya, all of a sudden, shook the room with a growl. Everyone's eyes opened wider at the sound. She told me, "I will not fight Howie. I won't do it, Cade; something is wrong about him." "My mate will not fight another alpha. If you demand she fights, it will be with another Luna or a top warrior, or she will not fight at all."

"Fine, but if that is the case, she will compete in this challenge." Another alpha stood up. "She can't compete. She is a Luna." They went back and forth about this for a while. I knew we had other things to discuss, but Kaya fighting was one of the most important to them. "Does that sound good?" "What?" I had not been paying attention. "We will have anyone who wants to challenge her throughout the day, minus us alphas, fight with her." I looked at Kaya, who nodded. "Fine, but they only have until after breakfast and before dinner to do so, and if she is somehow injured, she will not be required to fight anyone else." They nodded.

"Now, as for the fights, how do you want to do it, wolf form or human." This conversation lasted as long as the last one, maybe longer. Everyone agreed that wolf form was stronger. "How about we do the fights as humans, and the top three can fight all together in wolf form, and that will give them their place as first, second, and third." Some nodded, others disagreed, and I sat back. Howi spoke. "I like Cade's plan, but we should do wolf form first in a group setting and then do human matches for the rest of the day." "How many would need to be knocked out the first round then." One asked, I added. "That won't work. Bites and scratches in the first fight will make the rest of the fighting not as good because they are wounded. "But then we can see who can fight when most hurt."

Kaya was correct; there was something off about that guy. "I vote we just have them fight in human form all day." At the end of this topic, that is how it ended: they would fight as humans. "Now, which pack is in which place as of right now?" Jack asked. "Crescent Moon is the first place. They won endurance, smell test, and capture the flag." "Then would be shadow pack; they placed second in the endurance test, second in the smell test, third in the race. So that leaves the Daybreak pack in third. Third in endurance, no place in smell, first in race." Howi looked pissed, knowing his pack was in third place with only one victory. "Tomorrow, all that could change. If any pack can reach the top three, they could knock the others out." Charlie smiled. "If Alphas were competing, this would be much more interesting," I smirked at his remark. He went on.

"It is weird to me that my pack is smaller, and I only brought a few warriors, and only the ones that volunteered, so some of my bests are back at home. It is too bad all of you do not get to see how ferocious my small pack really is." I liked his comment. It was unnecessary but good. "This tournament has been good for me. I hope you, like me, didn't bring your best because if that was the case, I must say I am not scared of the lot of you, besides the northers and Shadow Pack." Howie was scowling, as did most other alphas at his remark.

I just nodded. The meeting continued, and when we were finishing up, Howie addressed the other alphas and Luna's: "I will say the north is powerful. I, for one, find it interesting that they only have three of theirs down here in the south and have beaten out all the others. I am interested to see how they do tomorrow. If they are so strong, I worry about what would happen should they decide to move down south. They now have one of their own in the south and as a Luna, too."

What was the point of his remark? I didn't want to sit and talk about this. I stood up and exited the room. Kaya and Robert followed. The others followed as well. Kaya's mind linked me. "Cade, Annelise, with him. I know that it is going to be bad." "I know, I see what you mean. There is something off about him. I will have some of the gammas do some recon on him and daybreak pack, see what they can find out." I pulled her close to me. "We will figure it out." I kissed her cheek. "How are you feeling?" "A little sore but nothing too bad." I kissed her again.
