140. Cade
Cade
I was sitting in the office with Charlie and Mark when Kaya's mind linked me about crawling on the floor. Goddess, that woman knew how to make me turn on. Picturing her on her hands and knees, crawling across the floor for me to do the most depraved things I could to her, made my cock rock hard. I wanted nothing more than to march out of this office and find her. I wanted to bury myself inside her tight wet cunt and devour her.
Just as I began to picture her on her knees in front of me with my cock so far down her throat that her eyes watered, Mark spoke, breaking my imagination. "Cade, what do you think?" My cock strained painfully in my jeans as I had to focus on other things. "What was the question?" "What are you thinking about doing to get our pack back." "Mark, they are safe. We need to focus on that." "But, Cade." "Look, I get it. You can't reach Helen, but we know they are safe. The bigger threat is still Howi. He wants us dead, so it is still best our pack stay out of harm's way."
I had given this a lot of thought. We knew our pack was safe and needed to hold on to that and still focus on the objective. I was curious to know if Howi would leave the North anytime soon or if he would continue to look for Crescent Moon Pack. Kaya had told me we needed to talk today, and she wanted to tell me everything she had learned from the Goddess. Maybe the Goddess had told Kaya something that could help us.
"So, are you thinking of sending some of us back to Daybreak pack lands or what?" Mark asked. He was definitely on edge. You could hear it in his voice. "Yes, I also think we need to send some people to his old pack lands on the east coast." Charlie nodded. I liked having him here. He could help me make sound, informed decisions. I always trusted him and thought he was a good alpha, but now he was just an alpha wolf who was a regular pack member.
"Charlie, what do you think?" I was curious what he thought. "I think that is a sound plan. I know we found nothing when we were at daybreak pack lands, and I don't see them returning there unless they find absolutely nothing in the North. But I think you could be right that the rest of his pack, like the women and children, are back on the East Coast." That is where my head was at. "I wonder what you plan on doing if you find the rest of his pack?"
I was silent to his question. I had no idea what I would do with the women and children of the pack. I didn't think taking them hostage would accomplish anything because Howi seemed like the kind of person who did not care at all about the well-being of others. He just wanted what he wanted. Mark looked at me to see what I would say. "I have no idea what I would do?" It was the truth, and I was not going to lie and say I had a plan.
Charlie went on. "I say we take his mate Annalise and hold her as a hostage. He may not hold love for her, but she will be giving him an heir, and that is something that may make him hesitate, especially since they are mated. They do have a bond." I thought about that. I didn't like the idea of housing any prisoners, but I could see how this could be beneficial. "Let's play it by ear," I said. Mark said. "Cade, we have to plan. We have to win, and how do we do that if we play things by ear."
"Mark, all of our plans have gone to shit. I say we continue to train and just wait. When Nieva or our pack members reach out, we can figure out what to do, but until then, I think it is just a waiting game." "That is easy for you to say your mate and child are here; what do you have to worry about?" I growled at him, pushing my Alpha auror out, making sure he knew who I was. "I am your Alpha, and you will not talk to me like that. I understand you are upset, but Helen is safe, and don't you dare think I don't care about that. I know how it feels to actually lose your mate, so don't even try that bullshit with me." I scolded him.
Mark turned his head away, ashamed. "Mark, since you seem to be so passionate about checking out their pack lands again. You will lead a group to recheck it out. I will send others to check out the old pack lands on the east coast." Mark nodded but didn't say anything. "Now go do something. Training will resume tomorrow morning. Make sure the pack knows. We will also have a pack meeting before training tomorrow. Kaya must show everyone she is alive and well, and I want to introduce the pack to their next Alpha."
Charlie and Mark both stared at me. Charlie broke the silence. "Cade, you have a girl. She can't be the next Alpha." "She can, and she will be." They both looked confused by my confession. "Look, this is my pack, and I choose who follows me, and I choose my daughter. Anyone who disagrees can challenge me for Alpha tomorrow; I will not waver on this." Mark said, "Cade, you may still have a son; I mean, it is not certain that you won't have any more kids." "I don't care if we do. But Sol is my firstborn, and Alpha will go to her. The North has women lead, and my daughter will be a good leader. I will raise her to be one, just like my father had raised me."
Charlie and Mark nodded, but I knew they hesitated about my ruling. I hoped the pack would be understanding. I didn't want to kill anyone over a disagreement, but if they couldn't follow me, they could fight to become Alpha, become rogue, or get in line with what I said. This was not a democracy, and I led as I saw fit. And I saw Sol as the next Alpha.
