Chapter 115 Ready to Show Off

"Bro, quit messing around. I haven't even tied the knot yet, and you're saying I have a kid as big as you?" Charles looked exasperated.

But no one was paying him any mind, especially not Mike, the senior rolling up in a Ferrari 488.

At just twenty-five, Mike was already a company general manager with a hundred million dollar inheritance waiting for him. Compared to Mike, the other students felt like they were from another planet, with many of the guys feeling a bit inferior.

But not Charles.

Mike stepped out of the car, still on his phone. "Yeah, the seaside villa community, Garden House No. 1. Just drive the car in!" He hung up and was about to head inside when he bumped into Charles.

'This guy again? The one who took Jessica away on a bike last time?' Mike thought, eyeing Charles with arrogance, especially when he saw the teddy bear in Charles's hand. His expression twisted in disdain.

'A loser is a loser! Giving Jessica a teddy bear for her birthday? Probably bought it from a roadside stall. Doesn't even look like it's worth a hundred bucks. Are you seriously proud of this?'

"Charles, you're here!" Jessica's face lit up when she saw him. She ran over, her face full of shyness, clearly treating Charles differently from the other guys.

Mike's expression fell. He thought Jessica was running out to greet him, but she only had eyes for Charles, this so-called loser. He couldn't wrap his head around it. Could Jessica really be different from other girls? Did she care more about pure love than material things, ignoring the guy with the Ferrari for this loser?

"Jessica, happy birthday. This is for you. Do you like it?" Charles smiled, handing her the teddy bear.

Jessica accepted it happily. "Thank you for the gift, I really like it!"

A group of guys almost choked. 'Jessica actually likes stuffed toys?'

"When I gave Jessica a three-hundred-dollar watch, she wasn't this excited."

"That watch was just average. Didn't you see someone bought her a three-thousand-dollar Prada bag, and she returned it on the spot?"

"Hey! Isn't this the ten-dollar teddy bear from the small shop next to the school?" Lilianna crossed her arms, full of disdain, not just for the gift but also implying Jessica's taste was childish.

'The Prom Queen actually likes this kind of cheap stuff?' she wondered.

Charles was speechless. "Who the hell are you? I'm giving Jessica a birthday gift, not you. Jessica doesn't mind, so why are you complaining? Are you just bored?"

"Actually, I'm really happy that everyone gave me gifts. No matter the value, it's the thought that counts. Don't worry about it. If you gave me something too expensive, I'd feel bad accepting it!" Jessica stood up for Charles.

'Yesterday, before my birthday, he has already spent 4.6 million dollars on me. Could Charles really not afford a gift? Isn't that a joke?' she thought.

"Jessica is really high in emotional intelligence. She speaks without giving anything away. She's a role model for me!"

"Yeah, it's a birthday. You can't just diss someone's gift to their face. That'd be too rude. Jessica's got class and grace. Bet the other guys will think more highly of her too!"

"Isn't that Charles? Seems like a lot of people at school have been talking about him lately."

Someone from the student council recognized Charles, but no one thought much of him. Jessica had invited these students today, most of whom came from well-off families and were all student council members.

Birds of a feather flocked together. Those who hung out with Jessica were all kids from middle-class families. In front of Charles, who could only give a teddy bear, they naturally felt a sense of superiority.

Just then, a large truck pulled up at the villa entrance. Mike's lips curled into a smile—it was his time to shine! He had put a lot of thought into preparing a birthday gift for Jessica, going to great lengths.

Ordinary rich folks would give gold-digging girls bags, watches, diamonds, necklaces, branded clothes, and so on. The more expensive, the more sincere. And girls loved these things.

But Jessica was different. Her father was an international chef, a highly awarded master chef. While being a chef doesn't necessarily make you rich, reaching Jessica's father's level did. Just one Cascade Clouds Lodge brought in at least a million dollars in profit a year. That was why the Lewis family didn't want to open a chain store. If they did, they'd be rolling in dough.

Giving a few thousand-dollar bags to win over Jessica was clearly impossible. She could easily afford such luxury items. So, besides being expensive, a gift also needed to be thoughtful and cater to her interests. Mike's preparation today was well thought out!

"Looks like someone's delivering something. What is it?"

"I don't know, but it looks pretty big. Maybe a piano?"

"It really is a piano. Mike is so thoughtful. He knows Jessica is good at playing the piano and has a Grade 10 piano certificate. Giving her a piano is way better than a branded bag!"

Soon, two delivery men carried the piano into the villa hall, and Mike elegantly pulled away the black cloth-wrapping.

"This is a Yamaha SU7 professional-grade performance piano! Oh my god!" a girl exclaimed.

"Is this piano really that impressive?"

"Of course, it is. This piano costs fifty-five thousand dollars, a professional-grade performance piano."

"My family has a piano too. It cost two thousand dollars and is very average. It can't compare to a professional-grade performance piano at all!"

A group of girls chattered, two of them immediately recognizing the value of the piano. Although this piano couldn't compare to world-renowned pianos, as a birthday gift, spending this much was enough to shock people!

"Jessica, happy birthday. This piano is my special gift to you. Do you like it?" Mike smiled as he spoke.

"I do like it, but this piano is too expensive. How about I accept the gift, but I'll transfer the money for the piano to you?" Jessica replied.

"Jessica, as long as you like it, the money doesn't matter. Actually, today, besides giving you a piano, I also want to give you a song!"

When Mike finished speaking, he elegantly sat down on the piano bench. He was ready to show off today.
