Chapter 128 I Actually Helped the Wrong Side
Alice was freaking out, feeling like a kid who messed up.
The angrier Charles got, the guiltier she felt.
But she didn't know that Charles was just anxious, not really mad.
He had a small problem, and that was the movie ticket times. If no one looked closely, he'd be fine. But if someone did, he'd be in trouble.
He acted all hurt and angry, making Alice too scared to question him.
"Don't spoil women. If you give in today, tomorrow she'll be checking your phone!" Charles muttered angrily.
Alice felt more and more regretful. She thought about all Charles had done for her and felt bad for doubting him and telling him to leave.
She thought, 'Charles must be really hurt. But I didn't mean it!'

This incident almost bit him in the ass, but he managed to save himself.
Just as Charles went downstairs, Alice called.
"I'm sorry, Charles. I might've been too sensitive. Anyone would feel uncomfortable in this situation. I didn't mean to doubt you!" Alice said softly.
"I think we both need to calm down. If we can't trust each other, it's exhausting!" Charles said and hung up.
Alice was stunned! She felt wronged but couldn't blame Charles. She thought, 'I should've chased after him! But I've already apologized. Why is he still like this? Am I really that unreasonable?'
Sometimes, if you kept backing down, people took you for granted. But if you stood firm, they reflected on their actions.
Girls who acted cute were loved, but men needed to have an attitude too. Otherwise, what was the difference from being a pushover?
'Do I really have to sleep in a hotel tonight? Seems like I have no choice,' Charles thought.
He spent the night at a budget hotel, which made him more determined to buy a house. He needed his own place for nights like this.
At 8 AM, Charles was woken up by his phone buzzing.
The first message was from Lisa.
Lisa: [Charles, I want to go to the movies with you. Can we watch 'Black Hawk Down'? Just give me one more chance. I'll do anything for you!]
Seeing 'Black Hawk Down,' Charles almost gagged.
'Is this ever going to end?' he thought.
Charles replied: [I don't want to watch a movie. Stop bringing up movies!]
He thought for a moment and messaged Alice.
Charles: [I was a bit impulsive yesterday, don't take it to heart!]
Charles sent this because he felt it was enough. He was just pretending to be mad and didn't want to cut ties with Alice forever.
By leaving some room, he hoped she'd learn a lesson. Ignoring her for too long over a misunderstanding would make him look bad.
There was a difference between a principled man and a petty one. There was a limit to everything.
Alice replied sincerely: [Yes, I misunderstood you yesterday. You're right; there should be mutual trust. I reflected all night and realized I did a lot wrong!]
Charles sent an even more sincere reply: [No, I'm a man; it's no big deal if I suffer a bit. Yesterday's incident was my fault. I didn't explain clearly, so it caused the misunderstanding!]
Alice looked at the message, almost in tears.
'Clearly, I was the one who messed up, but after calming down, Charles still took the initiative to explain. What does this mean? It means he still cares about me. Even if he is wronged and misunderstood, he still lowers his stance,' she thought.
Alice: [Charles, thank you for forgiving me. You're so good!]
Seeing Alice's reply, Charles wondered if he had pushed things too far. He had upset her to the point of tears!
Just then, Daniel called.
"Holy crap, Charles, what happened yesterday? Did you take Alice to the movies? Did you spend the night at her place?" Daniel asked.
Early in the morning, Daniel couldn't contain his curiosity. After hearing Alice's voice last night, his mind had conjured up some wild images. So, he called Charles early to gossip.
"That's pretty much what happened," Charles said, sounding a bit helpless.
"You bastard, did you really hook up with the Prom Queen? She was every guy's dream girl in high school. Even at Lindell Academy, she has at least a hundred admirers. What the hell did you do last night?"
Daniel's tone was filled with intense jealousy. This was normal. Alice was also Daniel's goddess. But he never thought of making a move. He was just like Charles back then, knowing she could only be admired from afar. He didn't dare to pursue her. Even if he did, he couldn't catch up. Lacking confidence, he thought it was best not to make a fool of himself!
But now, he found out that his buddy had won her over. Besides being shocked and envious, all that was left was genuine blessings!
"Actually, nothing much happened. We had a little argument last night, but it's all cleared up now!" Charles said.
"A little argument? Damn it! At eight o'clock last night, you asked me to call you. Were you on a date with another girl and used it as an excuse to meet Alice? Charles, you douchebag, how did you become the person you used to hate the most?"
Daniel quickly caught on. Connecting the dots, he guessed there was another girl involved last night.
'Then...? Did this guy mess it up? Did I become the savior? Did I help the wrong side?' he wondered.
