Chapter 123 It Can't Be Such a Coincidence

"Isn't this the same trick I used before? Lisa sure learns fast!" Charles said.

Charles stayed firm.

He wasn't the same Charles anymore.

He wouldn't budge just because Lisa did a few things.

That day, Lisa waited outside the boys' dorm for two hours.

Charles never showed up.

At midnight, Lisa texted Sophia.

Lisa: [Ms. Bishop, it's been two days, and Charles still won't talk to me. I can't even see him. I'm really discouraged!]

Sophia: [Lisa, how can you give up after just two days? Didn't you say you wanted to win Charles back? Without determination and persistence, you won't succeed in anything!]

Lisa: [But this really hurts my pride. After all, I'm a girl!]

Sophia: [Lisa, don't forget we signed a contract. You can't just take the money and not do the work!]

Lisa: [Okay, I got it!]

Lisa sighed, feeling helpless.

What she did today felt so embarrassing.

'I only tried for two days and already feel overwhelmed! Thinking about it, Charles pursued me for three years back then. Guys might need to be more persistent, but it shows how much effort Charles put in for me. I can better understand his feelings now. Without experiencing it myself, I could never understand the anxiety and unease in his heart. If I have known, I would have treated Charles better back then.' Lisa thought, now deeply regretting it.

Early the next morning, Charles went to class as usual.

Today, both Jessica and Alice asked him to go to the movies.

The date with Alice was at 9 PM. He planned to leave at 8 PM, get to Lindell Academy by 8:30 PM, giving him a half-hour buffer. It was perfect timing.

So, today's date with Jessica had to end before 8 PM.

A movie around 2 or 3 PM would end around 5 PM, then grab a meal.

After dinner, around 6 or 7 PM, the time would be just right.

Then he could find an excuse to leave and go to the other date.

That was Charles's plan.

But plans didn't always work out.

At noon, Charles was eating in the school cafeteria when Daniel called, sounding down.

"Charles, I failed. April Clark rejected me!" Daniel moaned.

"What happened?" Charles asked, puzzled.

"Today I bought two movie tickets, planning to ask her out, but she turned me down. We agreed last night, but she backed out last minute. Charles, I already bought the tickets. How about you come with me?"

"But I also have a movie date today. Maybe another time!" Charles declined.

"Charles, you've changed. You're prioritizing romance over friendship now. Are you going to ditch me for a girl? Weren't we supposed to be single together? Now you're secretly becoming a playboy. And my movie tickets are for the 2 PM show, which doesn't conflict with your date!"

"Damn it..."

Charles was speechless.

He couldn't admit he had two movie dates today.

And one was the Prom Queen of Lacus Magnus University, the other the Prom Queen of Lindell Academy.

'What the hell??' Charles thought.

"Charles, I really need to talk to you today. We've been friends for over ten years. Can't you spare a little time at noon?" Daniel urged.

Charles thought about it, 'Back then, I borrowed $500 from Daniel for Lisa's abortion. I was broke, couldn't even afford food. Daniel helped me out. I can't ditch my friend for a girl.'

"Alright, send me your location. I'll come find you later!" Charles replied.

Soon, Daniel sent the location.

Charles analyzed it.

'If I manage my time well, I can fit in three movies today. Because of Daniel, my date with Jessica might have to be after 4:30 PM. There's a 5 PM showtime. We can meet at the theater. To save time, we won't eat after the movie, and I'll find an excuse to leave and meet Alice. As long as I manage my time well, three dates in one day shouldn't be a problem,' he thought.

After finishing his meal, Charles texted Jessica.

Charles: [Jessica, I have something to do today. How about we meet at AMC Theatres at 5 PM?]

Jessica: [Okay!]

Jessica quickly replied with a cute emoji.

She thought the timing was perfect, not too early, not too late.

'Watching a movie at 5 PM, finishing around 7 or 8 PM, then grabbing a meal and maybe some shopping. It would be a sweet date!' she thought.

The only thing that disappointed Jessica was that Charles hadn't confessed his feelings yet.

'Maybe after today's date, we could finally define our relationship?' she wondered.

'My best friend Sarah mentioned that Lisa had been causing trouble again these past two days. She was relentlessly pursuing Charles. She even lit candles and apologized publicly outside the boys' dormitory. That woman has no shame!'

Jessica felt a slight sense of crisis.

Although she was confident she was no less than Lisa, Lisa's place in Charles's heart was always special.

It was better to define her relationship with Charles soon. Then she could rightfully stop Lisa from bothering him!

After lunch, around 1 PM, Charles drove to Lindell Academy.

He parked at the school gate and sent a message to Daniel.

Charles: [I'm here!]

Just after sending the message, about five minutes later, the car door suddenly opened, and a very beautiful girl got in.

Charles was stunned!

He didn't know this girl at all!

"Miss, did you get in the wrong car?" he asked.

"Oh! Sorry, I was just lost in thought!" The girl pretended to be flustered.

She opened the car door, ready to get out. But halfway out, she turned back.

"Hey, how about we add each other on Facebook? Next time, I'll treat you to a meal as a friend. My name is April!" The girl introduced herself, naturally taking out her phone and opening her Facebook QR code.

It was clear that after she saw Charles driving a $3 million car, she wanted to hit on him, hoping to snag a rich guy.

'But why does the name April sound so familiar? Wait, could it be...?' Charles thought. 'Daniel mentioned a girl named April in his call at noon. Is this a coincidence?'

At that moment, Daniel walked out from the school gate.
