Chapter 174 The World's Number One Piano Has Arrived at My Home
Just as Charles bounced for like five minutes, Lori started trash-talking him to Jessica.
"Jess, remember all those rich dudes who were after you? Like that senior Mike, he was the whole package. Good-looking, from a loaded family, super polite, and already a CEO. With all those top-tier guys chasing you, why'd you pick Charles? He ain't all that!"
"You just don't get it. Love's a whole different ball game. Charles makes me feel something special, and I think he's pretty awesome and hot!"
Jessica didn't wanna spill too much about Charles.
'Cause not everyone knew he had a cool $7.7 billion coming his way!
"Okay, fine, he's kinda hot and has a decent bod, but that's just surface stuff. Feelings are flaky. If a guy really digs a girl, he'd drop some serious cash on her.
Look at senior Mike. I heard he got you a piano worth tens of thousands for your birthday. That dude put in some serious effort!
And then look at what Charles got you.
A stuffed toy.
Seriously, when I heard that, I was like, no way. That jerk tricked you with a stuffed toy?
And now, just 'cause Charles gave you some no-name brand piano, you're gonna sell the 'expensive' one Mike gave you for cheap?
Girl, you've lost it over him!
Jess, I really hope you snap out of it and don't get blinded by love.
I heard you even had a fight with Sarah over Charles. Is it worth it to mess up with your bestie of so many years over a guy like Charles?"
Lori was really good at laying it out, her words sharp and on point.
In just a few lines, she tore Charles apart, comparing him to another top-notch senior.
Comparison's a killer!
But Lori didn't know, her info was way off.
So trying to diss Charles with comparisons was a total fail on Jessica!
"Lori! You really don't know Charles. He's actually loaded too!"
"That makes it even worse. Look at what he got you for your birthday? And now this no-name brand piano, it's probably cheap too. A rich guy who won't spend on you? Total douchebag," Lori shot back.
Hearing Lori's words, Jessica was kinda speechless.
Charles had dropped millions on her during her live streams and even gave her a villa.
How's that not spending money?
"Lori, let me explain!"
Lori cut her off, "No need . I'm here for Sarah. Why'd you fight with her over Charles? She's been nothing but good to you for years, keeping you safe from shady guys. Instead of being grateful, you hurt her feelings for Charles. Is that fair? She's looking out for you!"
And did you see how Charles bolted when I mentioned checking the piano's price? Dude ran off!
What does that tell you?
He's hiding something!
Don't fall for Charles's smooth talk.
This guy's shady. He's out and about all day, who knows what kind of chicks he's meeting. You think he really cares about you?
Does he hit you up every day, checking in on you?
Bet he doesn't!
You ain't even on his radar!"
Lori's words were like a bunch of stinging arrows.
At first, Jessica didn't feel much.
But yeah, it started to sting later.
'Cause, truth be told, Charles didn't hit her up that often.
Sometimes she thought, with $7.7 billion to inherit, Charles must be super busy, and she should cut him some slack!
But other times, she felt like Charles didn't give a damn about her.
Why else would he ditch her at the restaurant after a movie night?
Why would he be gifting stuff to other female streamers?
Even though he doesn't do it much now, his past actions screamed "casting a wide net."
And some of his excuses were just plain sketchy.
Charles said he had $7.7 billion to inherit and had to blow $200 million in a month!
Does that even sound real?
When you think about it, it's full of holes, and it seemed more like Charles was playing her.
She just didn't wanna believe Charles was a liar!
"Stop it, I don't wanna hear this anymore!"
With that, Jessica turned on the TV, looking all annoyed.
She needed a distraction and didn't wanna talk about whether Charles loved her or not.
Lori saw a glimmer of hope.
She had hit Jessica's weak spot, and she had to make sure they broke up.
She couldn't let her bestie get played by this douchebag Charles.
Just as Lori was about to keep going, a hot news story popped up on Seattle TV.
"Hey everyone, I'm your host Rex Ingram. Last night at the Seattle charity banquet, a bunch of rich folks gathered. Word is, a priceless piano was snagged by some mystery tycoon. This piano is the famous Heintzman Crystal Piano.
The Heintzman Crystal Piano sold for a jaw-dropping $77 million.
It shattered the highest transaction record in musical instrument history!
We can say that from last night, this piano is hands down the world's number one piano.
It's a real bummer we don't know whose crib this world-class piano is now in," the host said, all excited.
Meanwhile, the TV showed a pic of the piano.
After taking a look at the piano that had just been delivered, Jessica was floored!
Lori was also in shock.
She felt like her eyes were about to pop out!
"Could it be a coincidence? How does this crystal piano look exactly like the one on TV?
"Is this the world's number one piano? Worth $77 million?"
"Oh my God!"
