Chapter 220 The Most Terrifying Situation Has Arisen
Charles was still up on the podium, taking it all in.
Ever since he got that physical fitness boost, his eyesight was off the charts. Even from a hundred meters away, he could see Alice giving Leo a piece of her mind. She was definitely not happy with him.
And guess what? Despite everything, Alice still seemed to like Charles just as much. That phone call he made must've done the trick, and Leo's plan to rat him out totally flopped!
But why did Charles call Alice when he could already see her? Well, it was all about the details.
First off, calling was quicker and gave Alice a heads-up, making Leo's trash talk less believable.
Second, the school field was packed. Besides Alice and Snow, there were Jessica, Lori, Pamela, Emily, Lisa, and a bunch of other girls who had a thing for him. They were all scattered around but had their eyes glued to Charles.
If Alice ran over to chat and laugh with him, looking all cozy, what would the other girls think? What would Jessica think? And Snow? Just saying they were "high school classmates" wouldn't cut it.
So, Charles made the call to keep things cool for now. And Leo trying to stop Alice? That actually worked in Charles's favor!
Now, Charles needed to get out of there, fast! Having five or six girls who liked him in the same place was a recipe for disaster.
As long as Charles was around, any girl showing him affection could blow his cover. That kind of heart-pounding drama was too much for anyone to handle.
"Jessica, Charles won the championship. Let's go congratulate him. And you should really lock things down with him soon. Did you see all those girls eyeing him? He's amazing—rich, tall, handsome, talented, and romantic. You can't let him slip away!" Lori nudged Jessica. Even though Lori had her own feelings for Charles, she still wanted the best for her friend.
Despite following some love guru's advice, Lori genuinely cared about Jessica. She was raised better than to steal her best friend's boyfriend!
"I know, Lori. There's a car show in Syeattel tomorrow. I'm thinking of buying Charles a car. Since he hasn't made a move, I'll confess to him. He won't turn me down, right?"
"Don't worry, Jessica. Charles gave you a seventy-seven million dollar piano. There's no way he'd reject you!" Lori reassured her, as they walked arm in arm towards the podium.
Just then, Jessica spotted Snow. Since they knew each other, she decided to say hi. "Snow, are you here for the competition too? I heard you started a new job recently. How's it going?"
"Oh, hey Jessica! What a coincidence!" Snow felt a bit awkward, unsure if Jessica had heard the latest rumors at school.
She had promised Jessica she wouldn't go after Charles, but now there were rumors about her hugging him near the boys' dorm. Wasn't that breaking her promise and being totally untrustworthy?
"Snow, who's this? She's so beautiful and elegant!" Jessica glanced at Alice and couldn't help but gush. She felt like this girl was the only one besides Snow who made her feel a bit insecure.
"Let me introduce you. This is Alice, a top student from Lindell Academy!"
"And this is Jessica, a junior at Lacus Magnus University School of Arts. She was the vice president of the student council!" Snow said, standing between them and feeling the pressure mount, as both Jessica and Alice had complicated ties with Charles.
In the past, Snow would've outed Charles as a player without hesitation, but now she was tangled up in it herself. What right did she have to call him out?
Even though Charles hadn't officially dated anyone yet, there was a certain order to things. Jessica had told Snow she liked Charles, but Snow still fell for him anyway. Charles even gave her shares worth $150 million. Could she tell Jessica about that? No way! If she did, Jessica might think she was bragging!
Because of her own murky relationship with Charles, Snow couldn't expose Alice and Charles's connection in front of Jessica. It was awkward, and she felt like an accomplice.
"Oh! So you're from Lindell Academy, that's impressive!" Jessica looked at Alice with some admiration. She was always open to befriending exceptional girls.
"Why isn't anyone introducing me? I'll do it myself then. I'm Lori, currently at Syeattel InnoForge University, and I'm Jessica's childhood friend. Just call me Lori!" Lori felt left out, so she jumped in.
"Hello, nice to meet you all!" Alice smiled. She found these two girls quite pretty and impressive—one with a pure and sweet look, the other cute and adorable! And Syeattel InnoForge University was a well-known school!
"By the way, Alice, you're a top student at Lindell Academy. Why are you at Lacus Magnus University? I thought there was a soccer match with Syeattel Music Academy today, and a lot of their students came to cheer. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with Lindell Academy, right?" Lori asked, curious.
"Oh! I'm here to look for someone!" Alice explained.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Charles, did you see him? He's the one on the podium. He just won first place in the sprint!" As soon as Alice said this, Jessica and Lori were stunned!
They never expected such a beautiful girl to be looking for Charles. So, what was Charles's relationship with her?
Jessica's face suddenly turned pale, thinking, 'This girl is so beautiful, so impressive. Could it be...'
"Jessica, I didn't introduce everyone properly earlier. Alice is not only a top student at Lindell Academy, but she, Charles, and Leo are all high school classmates from Unity Peak High School!" Snow explained, almost instinctively, and she added Leo to the mix. It felt like the conversation was back on track.
Jessica suddenly understood and nodded. "So, they're high school classmates!"
At that moment, Charles felt his heart skip a beat. He had just used Leo to distract Alice. Who knew Jessica would pull Lori, and then Snow and Alice, into a conversation?
The most terrifying situation had occurred!
'Oh no!' Charles patted his forehead, feeling like karma was about to catch up with him.
