Chapter 091 You Don't Know What Despair Means
"Charles, it's making me uncomfortable that you didn't respond to the message, so I replied for you!"
Daniel's OCD was acting up.
He was used to being a simp.
Every time he messaged Michelle, he had to be the one to reply.
If the girl sent the last message and the guy didn't reply, he instinctively worried that the girl might feel uncomfortable.
Would she feel disappointed?
Would she have some negative emotions?
He cared a lot about the girl's feelings.
He was even a bit sensitive!
But he never thought about why it was okay for the girl not to reply to the guy's message, but the guy couldn't do the same.
It was everyone's first time being human. Why should he always give in?
"Whatever reply if you want!"
Charles didn't bother to talk to Daniel; he was focused on driving.
To be honest, this was his first time driving on the road after getting his license.
As a new driver and driving a Ferrari LaFerrari worth over two million dollars, he really didn't dare to get distracted, let alone play with his phone while driving.
New drivers were like that, cautious, fully focused, afraid of making mistakes.
Half an hour later, he dropped Daniel off at Lindell Academy.
Then he drove back to school.
During this time, Charles's Facebook messages kept coming in.
He didn't check them.
Another forty minutes or so passed.
Charles finally drove back to Lacus Magnus University.
He parked the sports car in an underground parking lot near the school and walked back to his dorm.
It was already 9:30 PM.
The west back gate of Lacus Magnus University was a bustling hub for students who frequented it to enjoy meals, indulge in late-night snacks, purchase fruits and snacks, surf the internet throughout the night, and explore various street stalls.
There were many students hang out with their friend!
Charles often passed through this route.
As usual, after parking the Ferrari LaFerrari in the underground parking lot, he walked through the west back gate like an ordinary student.
But at this moment, something unexpected happened.
A group of thugs, holding steel pipes and wooden sticks, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, walked aggressively towards Charles.
Among them were students from the School of Physical Education and some outside hooligans, more than twenty in total.
Charles's face darkened.
In the group, he saw a familiar figure.
Leo!
He didn't expect things to escalate to this point.
Last time, because of Emily, Leo held a grudge against Charles.
He had his girlfriend taken away in front of him and felt humiliated multiple times; he couldn't swallow this anger.
Young people tended to act impulsively.
They didn't want to consider the consequences anymore.
If he didn't beat up Charles, he would feel he was a coward, losing his dignity forever.
Today, he had been waiting here for Charles for three whole hours.
"Charles, you bastard. You finally showed up.Today I brought my friends. Let's see if you can take on twenty of us!" Leo roared.
He pointed a steel pipe at Charles, and the group surrounded him.
To be honest, with Charles's current physical condition, he could probably take on five or six people without much problem.
Taking on ten would be quite challenging, maybe even impossible.
If he took on twenty, there was no chance!
And today, these people weren't unarmed; they had steel pipes and wooden sticks.
Without considering the terrain, Charles alone would only get beaten.
If it were a few days ago, Charles might have panicked!
But now, he wasn't panicked at all; he even found it a bit funny.
"Just got 25 enhancement points and haven't had a chance to use them, and you come knocking?"
"Alright!"
"You might not know. I had only 30% of my combat power yesterday, today I have 40%!"
"Twenty people, so what? You might not know what despair is!"
Charles stood with one hand behind his back.
He smiled coldly.
'System, I want to enhance 10 points in physical fitness, 10 points in strength, and 5 points in agility!'
Charles silently commanded in his mind.
"Ding! System enhancing... Enhancement complete!"
In an instant, Charles felt a familiar warm current flow through his body.
His body seemed to awaken with explosive power once again.
His muscles became even stronger.
From inside out, he was incredibly robust.
Name: Charles.
Age: 21
Height: 71.2 inches
Weight: 150 pounds
Strength: 29
Constitution: 29
Spirit: 15
Agility: 19
(Peak adult level is 10)
Status: Very robust.
Enhancement Points: 0.
"What? Dare not to speak a word?"
"Weren't you arrogant before?"
Leo roared even more wildly.
The thugs surrounding Charles also sneered disdainfully.
Their steel pipes were ready, clearly planning to attack.
Facing Leo's threats and roars, Charles didn't show any panic or fear.
He just sighed lightly.
He casually threw the hot dog he just bought on the ground, the looked up at the sky, as if the starry sky was his true aspiration!
"Leo, stop now. You still have time to regret it!"
Charles's tone was calm.
But in his calm words, there was a sense of disdain for everyone present, as if he didn't take the twenty people seriously at all!
"Damn, what are you takling about?"
"Leo, what are you doing?"
Just as Leo was about to make a move, Emily suddenly rushed out from the crowd.
She had just received a call from her roommate.
She learned that Leo had brought a group to ambush Charles at the back gate.
So she rushed over!
As soon as she arrived, she saw this tense scene.
Leo didn't see Emily at first.
When he saw her, his anger flared up like a gasoline barrel being ignited!
His eyes were bloodshot, like an enraged bull.
"Get lost men don't need women to interfere!"
"Leo, do you know the consequences of gang fighting? You could be expelled from school!" Emily shouted.
"Don't try to scare me, you're still defending this bastard Charles, today I'm going to cripple this bastard right in front of you!"
Leo's face twisted with rage.
He raised the steel pipe and swung it at Charles.
In a split second, Charles dodged the heavy swing with incredible agility and countered with a kick that sent Leo flying.
The kick was powerful.
Leo was almost knocked out instantly.
If he weren't in good physical condition, his ribs might have been broken!
"Damn! How dare you fight back?"
Some people always asked such stupid questions.
As if when a group attacked one person, they assumed that person wouldn't dare to fight back.
They felt their dignity was challenged.
All twenty of them were furious.
