Chapter 177 A Man Should Have Style
"Lori, lemme ask ya, what kinda folks go to those emotional expert classes?"
"Two-faced, maybe?" Lori shot back.
"Well, since you know, I won't harp on it. These chicks learn all sorts of tricks to snag guys and make 'em spend cash on 'em. But do you really need that? You got plenty of dudes chasing after you, right? You're hot, a top student at EduVista Academy, got into a fancy university's youth program at fifteen, and you're killin' it in your computer science department. Why bother with these courses?"
"But I want a sweet romance too. The guys chasing me are all nerds; I don't like any of 'em. Now that I think about it, none of 'em can hold a candle to your Charles!"
Lori hadn't felt much before.
But after some thinking and comparing, she realized none of the guys she knew could stack up to Charles.
How weird!
At first glance, Charles wasn't drop-dead gorgeous.
But when you looked at the whole package, he was unbeatable.
Charles outshone all the guys Lori knew!
He was rich, handsome, generous, and most importantly, he knew how to create surprises and romance!
He gifted a crystal piano without telling anyone, which turned out to be the world's number one piano.
That unexpected gesture could really make a girl's heart race!
The more Lori thought about it, the more she felt that Charles was exactly like her dream guy. She was even a bit jealous of Jessica.
Thinking back to the scene where Charles saw her naked, she didn't feel any disgust.
She even thought it might be fate's doing, and having such an encounter seemed kinda interesting!
"Lori, why are you grinning like that?" Jessica asked.
Lori immediately snapped out of her daydream and came back to reality.
'No way! How could I have such thoughts about Charles!
Impossible, absolutely impossible. Charles is Jessica's boyfriend; I can't have thoughts about her boyfriend!
If I really did that, wouldn't I be two-faced?' Lori thought, shaking her head vigorously.
Lori decided to squash this dangerous thought.
She had known Jessica since elementary school, for over ten years.
Longer than Jessica had known Sarah.
She could dislike Jessica's boyfriend, and even say some bad things, because she stood on the moral high ground, claiming it was for her best friend's good.
But having feelings for her best friend's boyfriend would be super unethical.
She would feel guilty!
Even though Charles hadn't agreed to be Jessica's boyfriend yet, there was a line that couldn't be crossed.
"I wasn't grinning; you were!" Lori denied flatly.
She picked up her teacup and took a couple of gulps of water.
She was a bit flustered, a sign of guilt!
She wanted to shake Charles out of her head, but the image of her naked, staring into Charles's eyes, she couldn't forget.
It was becoming more and more vivid!
Lori: Favorability +50
Current Favorability: 30 points.
'Lori's favorability increased too?' Charles thought, feeling very puzzled.
He hadn't done anything to Lori, and they hadn't even spoken much!
And it all started with a misunderstanding.
This could increase favorability?
It seemed women couldn't resist the allure of money!
Without thinking too much, Charles picked up his phone to call Alice, and it took over a minute for the call to connect.
"Hey, Alice! Got time to hang out today?"
"Yeah, I do!" Alice replied softly.
Truth was, she didn't have time; she was in class when Charles called!
But this was the first time Charles had reached out since that awkward night.
For days, Charles hadn't contacted her.
She felt a bit hurt, so she didn't reach out either.
Charles was a grown man; even if he was misunderstood once, he couldn't use that as an excuse to ghost her for days.
And she was a girl; how could she keep chasing a guy to apologize?
Alice had her pride.
Even though Charles was loaded, and her parents were eager to please him, she didn't want to be a doormat.
For her, the campus queen of Lindell Academy, to cling to a guy with a stern face, with her soft exterior and strong interior, she couldn't do it!
But Charles called first and asked to meet.
So even though she was in class, she said she had time.
She had been waiting for this call for days!
As long as Charles made the first move, she wouldn't hesitate.
She was eager to patch things up with Charles.
"Cool, meet me at Cultural Confluence Promenade later; I'll be waiting for you there. Lindell Academy is pretty close!"
"Alright!" Alice hung up, feeling a bit uneasy.
Charles didn't come to the school to pick her up and asked her to go to Cultural Confluence Promenade herself.
She felt somewhat unimportant.
Girls cared about details.
If Charles didn't handle this right, it could lead to a series of conflicts.
Even serious emotional breakdowns.
Alice, the former high school campus queen and female idol, skipped class for a guy for the first time!
But she wasn't particularly happy!
Charles's attitude towards her was too strong, making her feel pressured!
And after not contacting her for days, he didn't even come to pick her up.
Any girl would feel bad about that!
Alice: Favorability -1
Current Favorability: 95 points.
"What the heck?" Charles was completely confused!
What happened to Alice?
'I didn't say anything wrong!
I just called her to meet at Cultural Confluence Promenade; was that a mistake?' Charles thought.
He carefully analyzed his actions.
If this happened to a guy, he probably wouldn't care much, but girls would see it as a sign of whether the guy cared about them.
Charles figured out where things went wrong.
But he didn't want to change, nor did he want to guess a girl's thoughts.
He believed a real man shouldn't apologize or admit mistakes. His attitude must be firm.
If she was unhappy.
Let her spend money!
If she doubted whether you care about her!
Let her spend money!
A man must have style and shouldn't be swayed by a woman's emotions.
After being tormented by Lisa, Charles would never say "I'm sorry, I was wrong" to any girl again!
Twenty minutes later.
Charles arrived at Cultural Confluence Promenade.
To his surprise, Alice had arrived before him.
She was wearing a beige plaid skirt today, looking fresh and bright. Even without makeup, she still made passing guys lose their minds!
"Have you been waiting long?" Charles asked.
"Not really, I just got here too!"
"Then come with me; I'll take you somewhere!"
