Chapter 152 Nancy Hawkins

'What is this guy laughing about? What's he scheming now?' Grace thought as she saw the smile on Charles's face. She felt a bit uneasy, like a little rabbit being watched by a big bad wolf, ready to be devoured at any moment.

"Sis, let's go in. The charity auction is about to start, and I really want to see what it's all about today!" Matthew said, leaning in.

"Matthew, did you steal the car keys and take the supercar Mr. Smoke gave me?" Grace asked irritably.

"Sis, come on! It's a grand occasion! I'm an Anderson. I can't show up in that beat-up old Audi. You're a big star now, I can't disrespect you like that, can I? Mr. Smoke gave you that sports car to uphold our family's reputation, didn't he?" Matthew said confidently.

"You stubborn fool, Mr. Smoke is here today. If he sees you showing off in that supercar, what will he think? He might look down on me. I need to explain this to him properly!" As soon as Grace said that, Matthew panicked instantly.

He had been waiting for Grace outside the hotel, so he hadn't entered the banquet hall and had no idea what was happening inside.

He didn't know that Mr. Smoke was actually Charles.

"Where is Mr. Smoke?" Matthew asked.

"Isn't he right there?" Grace said as she pointed at Charles, speechless.

'You brag about Mr. Smoke all the time at home, saying how amazing he is, but you don't even recognize him when he's right in front of you?' she thought.

"He... he's Mr. Smoke? Oh my God!" Matthew was dumbfounded!

"Isn't he the security guard who was stopped by the front desk staff? What the heck!" Matthew was shocked!

Then he saw that the person walking alongside Charles was Tony, the CEO of Sullivan Group, and he began to understand.

Anyone who could walk alongside Tony must be an extraordinary man.

The person following behind Charles was Gordon, the eldest son of the Cunningham family, and even he was half a step behind Charles.

Then, as they walked, they encountered Alex, the eldest son of the Campbell family, who greeted Mr. Smoke and voluntarily followed behind him.

The young heirs in the banquet hall all gathered around them.

Some even called Mr. Smoke their leader!

Dozens of Syeattel's second-generation elites regarded Mr. Smoke as their leader.

With a display like that, there was no need to question the identity of Charles as Mr. Smoke.

Snow was completely stunned.

She never expected Charles to be so impressive.

In the past, she thought Charles was a very high-profile person, and even thought that Charles had pursued Jessica to make himself more famous at school, purely to show off.

Now she realized he was actually quite humble.

If he really wanted fame, he could have made a sensation at school long ago. There was no need for him to deliberately create gossip.

Just revealing his identity as Mr. Smoke, the ultra-rich patron, would have countless girls at school chasing after him!

Jessica probably knew that.

That's why she was so nervous about Charles. She was afraid someone would steal him away.

"Jessica, why didn't you tell me earlier? If you had told me about Charles's identity sooner, I wouldn't have embarrassed myself today!" Snow said as she covered her burning cheeks, feeling awkward.

But she couldn't leave. She still had a task from her company boss to complete.

She had to approach Charles and completely lower herself.

But it was really hard and so embarrassing for her to do!

Charles and his group gradually walked into the charity auction hall, the largest banquet hall at the Ramada Five-Star Hotel that easily accommodated a thousand guests.

As soon as he entered the hall, Charles saw the clear rules prohibiting photography and videos.

Indeed, many auctions had rules like that.

Auctions involved some privacy issues. If it was just jewelry and accessories, that would be one thing, but once it involved company assets or land auctions, that would involve those sensitive topics.

No one wanted them to be used as news reports.

That was why there were rarely detailed reports on auction processes.

At most, they reported that an antique had sold for millions of dollars, or how much a master's painting sold for.

They usually couldn't report more details.

As time passed, more and more people entered the hall.

This charity auction had assigned seating, according to the level of status.

The more prestigious you were, the closer your seat to the front.

Mr. Smoke's seat was naturally arranged in the first row.

But only the first ten rows had assigned seats with corresponding identities. Beyond the tenth row, it was free seating.

There were many big shots at the venue, so even Gordon was only seated in the second row.

Charles saw an old acquaintance, Henry, also sitting in the second row.

And Donna and her husband were in the fifth row, but Alice didn't seem to be attending the event today.

Gary and Tony from Shark Live were also in the first row.

Charles didn't recognize some other big shots, but he guessed  they were likely city leaders.

At this moment, a tall, graceful, and elegant woman, dressed casually in simple clothes and wearing a baseball cap, smiled and sat next to Charles.

This woman wasn't wearing makeup or an evening gown and seemed very casual.

She had a very special aura, very natural.

No matter the occasion or attire, she always appeared calm and elegant.

She exuded the true grace of a socialite.

This girl was also very beautiful.

At first glance, she might not seem particularly stunning, but the more you looked at her, the more beautiful she became. By the third glance, you couldn't forget her. She was definitely a timeless beauty.

Of course, what surprised Charles wasn't how beautiful she was, but the name on the seat next to him: [Donovan Hawkins.]

'Isn't that the name of Syeattel's highest leader?' Charles thought.

"Who is this young girl? Why is she sitting in Mayor Hawkins's seat?"

"Don't talk nonsense. She's Mayor Hawkins's only daughter, Nancy Hawkins. Mayor Hawkins couldn't make it today!"

"She's Mayor Hawkins's daughter? She's really beautiful, completely different from those made-up beauties. If I can date her, she will be the ultimate shortcut to my success!"

"Stop dreaming. Even the eldest son of the Cunningham family might not be a match for such a high-status family. You're daydreaming!"
