Chapter 042: Becoming Famous by Accident
After horsing around with Jessica, Charles returned to his dormitory.
As soon as he walked into room 503, his three roommates immediately rushed over with excitement.
"Holy crap! Charles, you’ve gone viral. This time you’re really going to be famous. How did I not see it before? Dude, you actually have the potential to be an internet celebrity?"
Tom looked at Charles with envy and jealousy, seemingly unable to believe that the online sensation 'Running Man' was actually his roommate Charles.
"What has gone viral? Are you talking about my infamous reputation on the campus forum?" Charles asked.
"No, the campus forum only has so many viewers. We’re talking about you going viral on TikTok and YouTube, you’ve blown up everywhere!"
Jesse explained.
Charles was immediately startled upon hearing this.
"Could my identity have been exposed?"
"Does everyone know I’m the online Ultra-rich Patron LonelySmoke?"
"Holy crap, could I be that unlucky?"
Charles thought that if his identity was really exposed, it would be much harder to keep up his act in the future.
But clearly, he misunderstood!
LonelySmoke’s identity had not been exposed.
He had gone viral for another reason.
"Charles, just browse TikTok yourself and you’ll see. The hottest video on the internet right now is probably yours!"
Hearing this, Charles immediately took out his phone and started browsing TikTok.
After scrolling through a dozen videos, an insanely popular short video caught his eye!
The video had over 12 million likes.
More than 100,000 comments.
And it was posted just two days ago.
"Campus track meet, a man accidentally entered the track and ran at a devilish speed, shocking everyone!"
Charles clicked on the video.
The entire video was only a few seconds long.
But it clearly captured a young man in casual clothes during a track meet, who, despite being five or six positions behind other runners, overtook everyone and finished ten feet ahead of the first place runner.
In a mere 328-foot track, he displayed an astonishing burst of speed.
He was simply untouchable!
Leaving everyone in the dust!
Keep in mind, those track athletes were not ordinary people either.
They all ran faster than the average population.
It would take an average adult male about 12 to 15 seconds to run that much.
A time of 12 seconds could be considered fast for a normal person, requiring excellent explosiveness.
A time of 11 seconds is already at the level of professional athletes!
Times between 10 and 11 seconds, that’s at the level of national team athletes.
And for times under 10 seconds, those are basically record-breaking!
The young man in the video showed an explosive power that was no less impressive than a sprint champion!
This speed was almost comparable to the world's top sprinters.
It was astonishing!
And the video didn’t have any special effects.
It was a real incident from an actual competition!
Unbelievable!
Charles watched the video several times, and who else could it be but himself?
That day, Charles only wanted to show off a bit.
Who knew someone would record it and upload it to TicTok, and he went viral just like that?
Luckily, the video wasn’t very clear, and the distance was a bit far, so he couldn’t be easily recognized.
Charles opened the comment section.
It was bustling, sparking a lot of debate.
[I have to say, this guy runs really fast!]
[I’m a professional PE teacher. Let me give you some information on sprinting. You might not realize how fast this guy is just by watching the video. The video is 15 seconds long in total. From the moment he starts running until he crosses the finish line, covering a distance of 328 feet, if you pause when he crosses the finish line, you’ll find that it took him less than 10 seconds! Check the world champion’s time and do the math yourself!]
[Amazing, the world record for a 328-foot sprint is about 9.58 seconds, right? If this guy joins the Olympics, he might break the world record!]
[I think this video is exaggerated and can’t be taken as a reference. Saying he’s better than the world champion? That’s a bit much!]
[I don’t know if he can beat the world champion, but he’s definitely better than you!]
