Chapter 176 Emotional Expert
Charles was feeling pretty down in the dumps.
So, he decided to ghost Jessica for a bit, let her cool her jets.
When a dude gave a chick something, he was always expecting something back.
Charles kept splurging on this girl, hoping she’d end up being his girlfriend.
'It's like putting money into a business.
The more you put in, the more you expect to get back.
And the hotter the girl, the more worth the investment.
But chasing a girl and investing are two different ball games.
It’s not like the more you put in, the more you get out.
You gotta know the game; different moves give girls different vibes.
Guys and girls think differently.
Most dudes are impatient; they want a quick return on their investment!
It’s a simple mindset.
I treat you good, so you should treat me good.
But girls take their sweet time.
They watch and wait.
The more desperate you are, the less you get.
The more desperate you are, the worse she thinks of you.
She’ll think you’re immature, childish, and just plain unattractive.
She’ll feel you’re not worth her time.
The harder you chase, the faster she runs!' he mused.
But Charles wasn’t like that.
Maybe it’s because he had too many girls on his radar, and he couldn’t keep up.
So he didn’t have that burning need to lock down any one girl.
He wasn’t even thinking about making it official!
So he played it cool, real cool.
He wasn’t sweating it; instead, the girl started to freak out.
Jessica was already losing her cool.
Charles was too awesome, and she was scared some other chick would snatch him up, so she ditched the whole playing-hard-to-get thing and straight-up confessed to him! No beating around the bush, just a bold, in-your-face confession.
She wanted Charles to reply and say he’d be with her, make it official!
But ten minutes went by, and still no reply.
"Lori, Charles hasn’t replied to my message. What do I do? He doesn’t like me anymore, does he?" Jessica said, all bummed out.
"Jessica, are you nuts? How could Charles not like you? If he didn’t like you, would he give you a villa? Would he drop millions on gifts for you? Would he buy you a $77 million piano? He’s probably just too lazy to deal with you right now, maybe because he’s feeling like he’s given too much while you’re just treating him like a friend, making him a bit ticked off!
He might also be busy with other stuff. A guy that loaded has a ton of social stuff going on!
Of course, I think it’s cool for guys to spend on girls, but both sides should pitch in. Girls should give a little too, to keep things balanced. I admit I had him wrong before, but now I think he really cares about you. If I had a boyfriend willing to give me a $77 million gift..." Lori trailed off. "Forget it, I probably won’t meet a guy like that."
With Lori's advice, Jessica mulled it over and figured it was probably true.
Charles did like her.
She’d been soaking up all of Charles’s kindness without giving much back.
The most she’d done was give him an iPhone, and he was still using it.
She suddenly got it. If Charles didn’t like her, why would he always use the phone she gave him and carry it around?
"Guess I should find a good time to apologize to him, and since he gave me such a pricey gift, I should give him something too! Lori, what do you think is a good gift for a guy?" Jessica asked.
She was clueless about this stuff.
She hadn’t really given many thoughtful gifts to guys; usually, it was the other way around.
But Lori was right about one thing.
Relationships were a two-way street; girls couldn’t just let the guy do all the giving. Girls should give back too.
"I think there are three types of guys. The first type, regular dudes, don’t need a return gift!
The second type: potential keepers, you can give a little something, maybe some snacks to make their day.
The third type: rich and handsome, the return gift should be something valuable, like a watch, belt, sunglasses, or shoes. Pick some well-known brands to show you’re on the same level, and guys usually feel really touched and think you’re different from gold-diggers!
As for Charles.
He’s like the fourth type, too rich!
I think giving a watch, belt, or shoes would seem cheap. Why don’t you just give him a car?
After all, he spent $77 million; giving him a car wouldn’t be too much!" Lori broke it down.
Hearing Lori’s breakdown, Jessica frowned. "Lori, how do you know so much? Who taught you this?"
Lori’s analysis was solid, and giving a car was a good idea.
But since when did she get so good at understanding guys?
She even learned to categorize them.
"I learned from a relationship expert. I even dropped $300 on the course!" Lori said, looking all proud.
Her words left Jessica speechless and a bit helpless.
"Lori, stop taking those courses; they’re scams, you know?"
"Anyway, I think the advice is good. You should check it out too. The courses aren’t expensive, and they’re packed with practical tips, teaching us girls how to avoid getting played by jerks, how to handle guys, how to dodge their tricks, and how to manipulate their emotions to make them do anything for you. I’ve only taken three classes and already picked up a ton of techniques and tricks. I feel like I was too naive before!" Lori sighed.
She even wanted to drag Jessica into taking these relationship expert classes with her?
"I’m not into that. Those are toxic tips that just make things worse between men and women. Playing these mind games—what’s the point? Are you looking for love or waging psychological warfare? Won’t it just wear you out?" Jessica said, shaking her head.
She would never take those courses.
In fact, she didn’t need to.
She was beautiful, talented, smart, and just plain awesome, so she didn’t lack suitors.
A lot of her suitors were already rich and handsome.
