Chapter 127 Alice you have really disappointed me.

"Isn't that a bit much? How about I book you a hotel instead?" Alice hesitated. She liked Charles but wanted to be a bit reserved.

"Booking a hotel is a waste of money. Don't you have a couch? I can crash there for the night."

Charles was trying to play it cool, just wanting to stay over without any other intentions.

'Staying over is the first step. Once I'm in, everything else will be easier,' he thought.

Alice was speechless. 'You spent a billion on Oceanic Trade Ventures, but a hundred bucks for a hotel is too much? Charles, your intentions are obvious!'

"So, are you sleeping on the couch tonight? You might wake up with a stiff neck."

"No worries, I'm in good shape!"

"Alright, go shower. I'll set up the couch. By the way, I have a loose nightgown here. Not sure if it'll fit you."

Alice pulled out a long nightgown. Charles didn't mind, changed into it, and although it was a bit small, it fit without buttoning up. His abs were on full display.

The atmosphere got tense. Their hearts raced, and the air felt thick with tension.

Alice turned away, cheeks flushed. 'So embarrassing! This guy has abs?'

Charles, now in the nightgown, hurried to the bathroom. The sound of running water made Alice more restless. She felt Charles wouldn't just sleep on the couch.

'What if he makes a move? I'm so nervous! I'm not ready. If I reject him, will he be mad?' she wondered worriedly.

While tidying up his clothes, Alice found four movie tickets in his pocket. 'Why are there four tickets? Did Charles go to the movies with another woman today?'

The air turned icy. Alice's shy, flushed cheeks went cold. 'No wonder he was busy today and distracted during the movie. He already saw Black Hawk Down! No woman can tolerate that. Watching the same movie with another girl on the same day? Unacceptable!'

Charles finished his shower in under ten minutes and rushed out. He immediately sensed something was wrong. Alice was sitting on the couch, stern-faced, with four movie tickets on the coffee table.

Charles was stunned. 'Oh damn! Did I mess up?'

He thought his time management was flawless, but a minor mistake exposed his plan. He couldn't explain it.

'Stay calm! Find a way to bluff through this!' Charles forced himself to stay calm, quickly thinking of a solution. His mind raced.

"Alice, what's wrong?" Charles acted like he didn't see the movie tickets on the table.

"Charles, are you serious? I know you're rich and have plenty of women around, but why trample on my dignity? Is it fun to take two girls to the movies in one day? If you don't like me, just say so. Why lead me on and then date someone else? Have you ever thought about my feelings? Get out, I never want to see you again!" Alice shouted, her eyes red and on the verge of tears.

"So, you doubt me because of a few movie tickets? All my efforts mean nothing, and I'm not worth any trust?" Charles said coldly, with a hint of self-mockery.

"What?" Alice was stunned. She couldn't believe Charles was acting like she was the one in the wrong.

She continued, "How can I trust you? The facts are right here. You went to the movies with another girl and then with me, and it's the same movie. Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Charles didn't respond. He just picked up his phone and called Daniel.

"Ask Daniel yourself if I went to the movies with him today," he said.

The phone rang for a minute before Daniel answered. "Hello! Charles, it's one in the morning. What's up?"

"Daniel, it's Alice. Did Charles go to the movies with you today?" Alice asked seriously.

"Yeah, we saw Black Hawk Down. It's really popular. I wanted to ask April, but she turned me down, so I dragged Charles along. Wait, isn't this Charles's phone? Prom Queen, you're with Charles? Damn!"

"Alright, thanks. Sorry to bother you so late!" Alice hung up, her expression softening a bit. But she still felt Daniel and Charles might be covering for each other.

She decided to call April, who was in the same class, to clear things up.

April answered quickly. "Hey, Prom Queen, what's up?"

"April, did Daniel ask you to the movies yesterday afternoon?"

"Yeah, he asked me to see Black Hawk Down, but I had already seen it with someone else, so I turned him down. I even saw a handsome guy in a LaFerrari pick him up. If I had known he knew such a rich guy, I might have given him a chance!"

With April's confirmation, Alice realized she had wronged Charles.

"What? Need to double-check?" Charles asked, putting on his clothes and grabbing his phone and car keys.

"Charles, I'm so disappointed in you. Am I really not worth your trust?" He stormed out without looking back.

"Charles, I'm sorry. Please don't be mad. I shouldn't have doubted you. Please forgive me this once!"

But Charles didn't look back.
