Chapter 202 Kneeling in Public
"Yo, Mr. Smoke, I've already said sorry and owned up to my screw-up. What else do you want from me?" Ryan looked like he was about to lose it.
With all these people around, if he actually got down on his knees, how could he ever show his face again?
"Alright. If you don't wanna do it, I won't make you!" Charles said with a sly grin, sounding all chill and forgiving, like he wasn't holding any grudges.
But those words made Ryan's blood run cold. Charles reminded him of Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee was the kind of guy who never showed his true feelings. Always polite and smooth, never getting into shouting matches.
But behind that nice-guy act, Mr. Lee was a snake. If you crossed him, he wouldn't just argue; he'd destroy you, leave you in ruins, and bankrupt you!
Cindy was one of his victims. Once a hotshot director, now she's begging on the streets.
Charles's calm words were giving off the same creepy vibes as Mr. Lee.
Ryan was freaking out!
If Charles had just straight-up threatened him, maybe Ryan would've stood his ground.
But Charles didn't. And that scared Ryan even more!
Because the unknown is the scariest thing of all!
Just as Charles was about to bounce with Alice, Ryan suddenly dropped to his knees in front of him.
Everyone was stunned.
"Mr. Smoke, I messed up, I really messed up. I'm sorry, please forgive me!" Ryan said, swallowing his pride.
"Mr. Turner, why'd you actually kneel? I was just messing around, don't take it so seriously!"
Charles was a bit thrown off, 'cause he didn't expect Ryan to actually kneel. He hadn't meant to threaten him at all.
He just noticed the crowd was getting bigger at the Gold Trade Building entrance. More people were gathering, some even snapping pics with their phones. So Charles figured it was time to split with Alice.
That's why he was gonna let Ryan off the hook.
But who knew, just as he was about to let Ryan go, the dude still knelt?
'What a wuss!' Charles thought.
But the other rich kids didn't see it that way.
Mr. Smoke, with just a few words, got Ryan to kneel in public. That meant Charles had some serious control over the situation.
With just a few casual words, he made Ryan genuinely scared, which was pretty badass!
This was the real deal, the mark of a true boss!
That perfect smirk that didn't reach his eyes was something even top actors couldn't pull off.
At that moment, Alice looked at Charles with even more admiration.
Women naturally dig strong guys, and a dude with skills, status, and presence is a total magnet!
Alice, a pop idol, was no different.
But the one who was even more impressed was April.
She was totally blown away!
Mr. Turner, a top-tier rich kid with a $260,000 watch, actually knelt and begged for mercy in front of Charles?
And a bunch of rich kids in luxury cars were looking up to Charles.
This was real power!
Charles was a top-tier young master!
April was super envious, and she looked at Alice with even more jealousy.
She found Charles's vibe increasingly irresistible, making her heart race and her blood pump.
She even found Daniel way more appealing now.
"Alright, folks, break it up. Why are you blocking the entrance? Planning a car show or something?" Charles waved his hand, addressing the rich kids.
"Got it, Mr. Smoke. We'll bounce. Let's catch up next time!" Gordon said with a grin.
"Let's move it, guys! Didn't you hear Mr. Smoke? You're disrupting others' work!" The rich kids came in a flash and left just as quickly!
Ryan got up from the ground, his face twisted with anger.
Even though he had knelt and apologized, the rich kids who used to call him a buddy were now keeping their distance.
When he stood up, no one offered a hand.
He could feel their disdainful looks burning into him.
Today's events weren't just humiliating; they were a total disgrace!
He couldn't stomach those contemptuous stares.
"Mr. Smoke, just you wait. I'll get my revenge, I swear!" Watching Charles walk away, Ryan's forehead veins bulged, and he almost ground his teeth to dust, his eyes filled with malice.
Charles walked to the curb and hailed a cab.
Seeing Alice, April, and Daniel heading back to Lindell Academy together made him feel at ease.
Just then, a scruffy-looking guy in his thirties, wearing a baseball cap, approached Charles.
Charles frowned.
Wasn't this guy with Ryan?
"Mr. Smoke, let me introduce myself. I'm Cindy. There's something I'd like to discuss with you. Is it convenient?" Cindy asked, his tone steady and respectful.
"Spit it out. You got one minute!" Charles's tone was icy.
He thought Cindy was a snake. Just a moment ago, he was sucking up to Ryan. Now that Ryan was humiliated, he was switching sides.
Typical two-faced behavior.
Naturally, Charles wasn't going to be nice to such a person.
Even though Cindy had some fame, it was mostly bad rep.
"Mr. Smoke, I can help you take down Tiger Director. Is that enough?" As Cindy finished speaking, Charles's interest piqued.
Cindy had heard of Mr. Smoke's reputation.
He was very tuned into the entertainment industry.
Lately, news about Grace's comeback, her reputation management, and her public spat with a big director over industry sleaze had been making waves.
Originally, Tiger Director was on the ropes, getting slammed by everyone. But this morning, there was a shocking twist.
A famous artist turned on Grace, claiming she was paid by Grace to slander Tiger Director, even showing payment records as proof.
Then dozens of big-name stars and artists came out in support of Tiger Director!
Grace went from being a victim to a villain.
And who was behind Grace? Mr. Smoke.
This wasn't a secret. While not widely known, it was common knowledge in the upper circles.
So the deal was simple.
If Cindy could help Mr. Smoke take down Tiger Director, he could align himself with Mr. Smoke and maybe even gain his support.
