Chapter 166 The Last Chance
So, this chunky dude was the real big spender, huh?
"What's your name?" Charles asked.
"I'm Billy Nguyen!" the chunky dude replied.
"Cool, add me on Facebook. I'll swing by to check out the building sometime. Is this the only one you got? If you got more, I might be interested in those too!"
"Nah, this is the only one!"
The chunky dude wiped the sweat off his forehead.
He originally wanted to flex a bit. He thought buying a building worth over $300 million was a bit too much, even for Mr. Smoke, right?
He figured it’d be impressive to show off in front of Mr. Smoke before bouncing, but Mr. Smoke didn’t even care.
He even thought one building wasn’t enough and wanted to buy more?
A bunch of rich kids looked at each other, eyes wide.
Suddenly, they felt like showing off their million-dollar luxury cars was nothing.
Look at Mr. Smoke.
He just casually wanted to buy a commercial office building in the city center.
A few million-dollar cars were nothing compared to Mr. Smoke.
And that Billy , the chunky dude, had always been pretty low-key in the circle. But who would've thought his family owned a building!
Just from the rental income alone, he could rake in tens of millions of dollars a year, right?
But what kind of business did that chunky dude's parents do to need such a huge chunk of change to sell the building?
After adding each other on Facebook, the chunky dude asked again, "Mr. Smoke, my parents have been talking to a bunch of people about the building lately, but most of them can only buy one or a few floors. Some have even put down deposits. Mr. Smoke, do you need a few floors, or...?"
"I'll take the whole building. Don't bother with other buyers. I don't like sharing my purchases with others!" Charles said calmly.
As soon as he said that, the group of rich kids broke into a sweat in unison!
"That's quite a reason, not liking to share purchases? Mr. Smoke, this is a whole building!"
"Don't worry, Mr. Smoke. I'll call my dad right now and have him refund the deposits!" the chunky dude said excitedly and quickly made the call!
Normally, selling an entire office building in the city center might take a year or more.
Mainly because the price was high, and there were few buyers. The market economy wasn’t doing great now.
Many companies were going bankrupt, and rent was hard to collect!
Also, selling the building floor by floor was a pain.
Some buyers didn’t even want a whole floor, just a few offices, and each floor could be subdivided!
And buyers were usually super cautious.
Sometimes they might take months to decide, while constantly comparing prices and haggling with the seller!
Selling the whole building quickly and getting the funds back in a year or more was considered fast!
But Mr. Smoke was different!
He bought the whole building at once.
Not to mention other aspects, just quickly getting the funds back was something those small buyers couldn’t compare to.
While the chunky dude was on the phone, Charles was thinking.
He needed to find a girl to go with him to buy the building, which would make a sweet gift, right?
"Who'd be the right fit?"
"Mr. Smoke, I called my dad. When can you check out the building?"
"Tomorrow."
After thinking for a sec, Charles realized it was perfect timing, and he had nothing going on tomorrow afternoon.
He'd ask the girls one by one, and whoever said yes would go.
"Alright, Mr. Smoke, see you tomorrow!" The chunky dude finished his words and drove off in a Volkswagen Phaeton. Super low-key style. A $150,000 luxury car that looked like it cost a few tens of thousands.
"It's kinda a shame. This chunky dude is actually pretty cute. He even asked me to dance and wanted to add me on Facebook. Why didn't I say yes?" a hot socialite said, regretting it.
"Yeah, he's pretty low-key among the rich kids. Who knew he was so loaded, even better than those driving Lambos!"
Charles watched a group of socialites sighing.
He got why the chunky dude wanted to show off!
Turned out hegot rejected by a girl!
So he flaunted his wealth before leaving as a form of rebellion.
But he didn't expect Charles to be genuinely interested in a building.
It was already 12:30 AM.
The school dorm was closed.
'Do I have to crash at a hotel again tonight?' Charles thought.
At that moment, a handsome guy and a beautiful girl walked out.
"Snow, where are you staying now? How about I give you a ride? It's late, and it's not safe for you to take a cab alone!"
Alfonso and Snow walked out side by side, chatting. He pressed the car key in his hand.
The cool Pagani Huayra opened its butterfly doors, catching the admiring glances of the socialites.
"No need, Alfonso. I don't think we're going the same way, so I won't trouble you!" Snow said.
"It's no trouble, just a step on the gas. Isn't it more of a hassle for you to take a cab?"
Alfonso pressed on.
He felt that Snow's attitude had softened today, and there might be some progress.
He thought this woman probably understood the importance of status and social standing after attending the luxurious high-society banquet.
In society, one would eventually get the perks of having money and power!
Alfonso wasn't wrong to think this way.
But Snow had something else on her mind.
She attended the charity banquet on behalf of KoiTech Inc. with a mission.
From the start to the end of the banquet, she wanted to find a chance to approach Charles and discuss KoiTech's financing with him.
During the banquet, Mr. Green even called her.
He asked if she had seen Mr. Smoke, and she said yes!
He asked if she had approached Mr. Smoke, and she said no!
She couldn't approach him during the auction.
But during the cocktail party, there were too many girls around Charles!
She couldn't get near him!
Mr. Green had urged her several times. He placed high hopes on her, but until the end of the banquet, she hadn't had a chance to speak to Charles.
She felt awkward, unable to break the deadlock!
As she walked out of the hotel, she saw Charles again.
And this time, there were no admirers around him. This was her last chance!
