Chapter 192 KoiApp
Since Leo and Charles had been beefing forever, if Leo had seen this coming, he would've totally ratted out Charles!
But what did he do instead?
He actually helped clear Charles's name and even helped him hook up with Alice, the girl Leo had been crushing on forever.
He basically handed over the girl he liked to his worst enemy!
How could this even happen?
"No way, I can't let this happen!" Leo redialed her number.
Alice saw her phone light up with Leo's name again. After a moment, she picked up. "Hey, Leo, what's up now?"
"Alice, don't believe a word I said earlier, and definitely don't trust Charles. He's playing you!"
"So, you're saying you lied to me before, and Snow isn't into girls?"
"I didn't lie, but Charles did. He's a total scumbag, you know that? It's not just Snow; he's got a thing going with tons of girls at our school. Even my ex got seduced by that jerk Charles!" Leo blurted out, desperate.
He hoped Alice would see Charles for who he really was.
"Leo, didn't you text me a while back saying you've liked me for years and waited for me for five years without dating anyone? So, how did your ex get taken by Charles? Were you lying then, or are you lying now?"
"I..." Leo was speechless.
No matter what he said, it looked like he was lying.
"And you know what kind of person I can't stand? Someone who talks trash about others behind their backs and stirs up drama. I think people like that are the worst!" With that, Alice hung up on him.
She had her own mind made up.
Leo's first words, when he didn't know the whole story, were probably true, but he flipped the script as soon as he heard she was with Charles.
His shady intentions were too obvious, trying to badmouth others.
Talking trash behind someone's back, what kind of move was that!
Just as Alice hung up, Leo called again.
This time Alice was really fed up and just blocked him!
"Damn it!" Leo stared at the red exclamation mark in the chat window.
"How could this happen?
You say I'm stirring up trouble, but I'm telling the truth, why won't you believe me?" Leo yelled at his phone in frustration.
Meanwhile...
While Alice and Leo were on the phone, Charles followed Snow into a super fancy office.
The place was about 650 square feet, with a desk, bookshelves, filing cabinets, a coffee table, and a sofa, complete with a tea room.
It had floor-to-ceiling windows, showing off the beautiful and bustling Cultural Confluence Promenade from the 39th floor, making you feel like you were on top of the world.
Inside the office was Amanda, the CEO of KoiTech Inc.
She was the definition of a boss lady.
She had a medium-length haircut, flawless makeup, and gold-rimmed glasses. In her thirties, she was still stunning, rocking a custom office dress.
From Charles's point of view, she was a solid seven.
A seven was pretty high in reality, 'cause out of like twenty girls, you might not even find one who could score a seven.
Considering Amanda was already in her thirties and her looks had faded a bit, she must've been a real knockout in her twenties.
"Mr. Smoke, please take a seat! Snow, get Mr. Smoke a cup of coffee!" Amanda ordered.
"Got it!" Snow nodded.
Amanda already knew Charles was young 'cause her cousin had met him before. But seeing him in person, he looked even younger.
A 21-year-old college junior who could casually throw around hundreds of millions of dollars.
Yesterday was even crazier.
Word was, the Gold Trade Building had been bought, and the buyer was Mr. Smoke himself.
Mr. Smoke's wealth was no longer in question.
But what blew Amanda's mind was that after buying the Gold Trade Building, Mr. Smoke gave it to a girl?
She'd never seen anyone so willing to drop that kind of cash to impress a girl.
When the girl came to the company to collect rent today, Amanda was really taken aback.
"Ms. Green, let's cut to the chase. I heard you're looking to invest?" Charles asked straight up.
"Yeah, Mr. Smoke, why don't you check out this data report first? Our company launched KoiApp in 2018, and in less than three years, we've hit over thirty million users, with about five million daily active users. We're also about to roll out a new tech feature, and I believe with this, we'll grab an even bigger market share!" Amanda said, handing over a data report.
Charles didn't get all that technical stuff.
Even if he did, he wouldn't buy it.
These days, even Fortune 500 companies fudge their numbers.
She thought he'd believe her just 'cause she showed him a data report?
He wasn't that gullible.
"Alright, no need for the data report. Before coming here, I did my homework on KoiApp. Just tell me, how much do you think your company is worth?" Charles tossed the report aside and leaned back in his chair, all casual.
With his laid-back attitude, Amanda couldn't figure him out.
Given Charles's wealth and background, he must've done his research on her company beforehand.
Since there were no secrets, no need to play games!
"Mr. Smoke, let's be real. I started this company three years ago and invested nearly fifteen million dollars. I'm currently the sole shareholder. KoiApp ranks third among similar apps nationwide. I estimate its market value at forty-six million dollars. Of course, this is without the latest AI algorithm. Our company lacks operational funds. With enough cash for advertising and the new AI algorithm, I'm confident we can make KoiApp the number one app in the country within a year."
"So, after all that, what's the bottom line?" Charles was getting impatient.
"One hundred and fifty million dollars!" Amanda narrowed her eyes.
She had quoted the same amount to another investment company before, but they had flat-out rejected her, saying KoiApp wasn't worth that much. They had offered fifteen million dollars for thirty percent of KoiApp's shares.
But she had turned them down.
