Chapter 234 Assessment
"Charles, can you really heal people?" Nancy was totally shocked by what just happened.
She could barely wrap her head around the fact that Charles had such mad medical skills.
She'd seen him play the piano like a pro, dance like a star, and even heard stories about him taking down criminals. Though she didn't see it herself, word was he fought off eight thugs solo, leaving one dead and seven seriously hurt, with two of those dying later in the ER.
And now, this guy could practice medicine too?
How could one person be so amazing at so many things?
Charles wasn't just good at one thing; he was a master of many, and none of them were average.
"As for healing people, I only know a bit. There are probably some illnesses out there I can't cure," Charles said, sounding humble but kinda braggy at the same time.
"Do you think you can pass the medical license exam? Thaddeus seems to have it out for you. He might bring in some top-notch medical experts to trip you up!" Nancy said, her haunted eyebrows knitted into a line.
Everyone could see Thaddeus had some beef with Charles, and he leaned on his dad Percival's status, not even showing respect to Mr. Hawthorne!
Of course, Thaddeus might not know who Nancy really was. If he did, he'd probably act differently.
Thaddeus was on the phone for over an hour, and during that time, Mr. Hawthorne also called the health department director to give them a heads-up.
Charles was getting pretty fed up. If he didn't think getting a medical license would help him practice his skills in the future, he would've bailed already.
Finally, after an hour, three doctors showed up at Lacus Magnus University.
"Dr. Hall, Dr. Reed, Dr. Evans, you're finally here! Let me introduce everyone. This is Evander Hall, Dr. Hall. This is Octavius Reed, Dr. Reed. And this is Leander Evans, Dr. Evans. They're top experts from various hospitals in Syeattel. With them personally checking if Charles meets the professional standards, I think no one has any objections?" Thaddeus said, all smug.
The arrival of these three expert professors seemed to boost his ego a lot.
If it were just some regular attending physician, there was no way they could pull in three expert professors with one call. So, this was probably his dad, Mr. Kim's doing.
But Thaddeus might not know the real reason the three expert professors agreed to come was because they got a call from their higher-ups.
Charles's situation had already been reported to the leaders, and after thinking it over, they decided to run a new test.
If Charles couldn't pass the medical license exam, it would look bad for him, and he could be set up. The leaders didn't want the City Hero to get bad press for breaking the law.
If Charles aced the medical license exam, it would make promoting him as the City Hero way more legit. His image as a fearless hero who saved lives would be even stronger.
Once the news got out, it would definitely get a ton of praise from all corners of society, and Charles' story would be remembered by even more people!
Basically, whether Charles could pass the medical license test would shape how the Syeattel police viewed him and decide if he broke the law or heroically saved lives!
Right then, Dr. Reed, one of the three experts, stepped up. "Are you Charles? The young guy who got the bigwigs to call us in for a personal assessment?"
"Yep, that's me!" Charles nodded.
"Alright, let's not waste any time. We've got a bunch of leaders, cops, and students here just for you. We won't keep everyone waiting. The medical license test has two parts. First, a written exam. I've got a tough set of questions here. The full score is 100, and you need at least 80 to pass. Second, diagnosing a patient. I've got a patient here with a tricky condition, suffering from three different diseases. You need to figure out what they are and come up with a treatment plan quickly! Of course, you'll have all the professional medical equipment you need. Dr. Wilder, Mr. Evans, and I will be evaluating and scoring you the whole time. Your diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed on the spot, and we'll give you a score. The full score is also 100, and you need at least 80 to pass. You need to score above 80 in both the written test and the diagnosis to pass the assessment," Dr. Reed explained clearly.
Just then, Alice and the other three women showed up. Seeing the scene, Jessica was shocked. "What's going on? Why are there so many cops and people at the school infirmary?"
"Isn't Charles treating that girl with heart disease in the infirmary? Did something happen? Did Charles accidentally kill her?" Alice suddenly had a bad feeling.
"I'm not sure. I'll ask someone!" Snow said as she quickly grabbed someone to find out.
After getting the scoop, they learned what was going on.
Earlier, they had been encouraged by Lori to discuss plans to spend Charles's money in detail, and without realizing it, they had been talking for over an hour. So, the four of them decided to head to the infirmary to find Charles.
Who knew that when they arrived, they'd see a bunch of cops surrounding the infirmary?
"Good thing I found out. Charles was mainly practicing medicine without a license, and someone reported it. But the police leaders thought he was acting out of kindness, so they let him take a medical license exam. Charles agreed, and it seems several medical experts are on-site," Snow said.
Soon, the first round of the written test began!
