Chapter 197 April is a Serial Dater
Alice had a sudden "aha" moment, like a light bulb just went off in her head.
Technically, she wasn't Charles' girlfriend yet.
They hadn't gone public, confessed, or made any official moves.
It was all Charles, showering her with stuff from day one.
Back in high school, he got her a beat, then he bailed her family out of a bankruptcy mess, and now, he just handed her a whole building.
Alice suddenly realized Charles was actually pretty low-key and introverted. He never bragged about what he did, always working behind the scenes, never pushing her.
He wasn't the sweet-talking type, but he had his moments of being a bit bossy.
On the flip side, Alice felt she was being a bit dramatic.
After everything he did for her, what was there to doubt?
Maybe she cared too much, which made her feel a bit insecure.
As Alice was lost in her thoughts, a familiar voice piped up behind her. "Alice, there you are. I've been looking everywhere. Is this your friend?"
She turned around to see Charles standing right behind her.
"Charles, you're here! Let me introduce you. This is my college buddy, April, also from the Foreign Languages Department!"
"Oh! I'm Charles. Nice to meet you. Have we met before? You look kinda familiar." Charles said with a smile.
Seeing Charles, April paused for a moment.
As she suspected, the guy who bought Alice a building was the same hot dude driving a Ferrari at the Lindell Academy gate that day. It really was Charles.
This young, handsome guy was so loaded he could gift a building?
So extra!
April was intrigued. She lifted her hand and said, "Handsome, you forgot. We met once before. You were with Daniel. Actually, I'm also good friends with Daniel!"
"Now that you mention it, I do remember a bit!"
Charles and April exchanged a polite handshake but just as he was about to let go, her fingertips lightly brushed his palm, almost teasingly.
This chick was clearly flirting, and she was doing it right in front of Alice!

Instead of hitting up Charles directly, she asked Alice right in front of him, giving Alice some respect.
If she had gone straight to Charles, he might've turned her down to keep Alice's feelings in check.
But by asking Alice first, it was a whole different ball game!
Just some casual socializing.
Just making a friend, Alice wouldn't be that petty, right?
Asking this way, it was tough for Alice to say no!
"Sure, go ahead!" Alice said, giving April a wary look. She had just been feeling grateful towards April, and now April was trying to move in on her guy!
"Charles, Alice is cool with it. Let's do this!" April said playfully, opening her Facebook.
April was clearly a flirt, always adding any quality guy as a friend first.
Alice didn't necessarily want to steal someone's boyfriend.
But what if they broke up one day?
If this quality guy became single, wouldn't he think of her?
It was like planting a seed.
The more quality guys on her Facebook feed, the better her options!
"By the way, have you guys had lunch yet? Let's grab a bite together!" April suggested, all proactive.
"In that case, I'll call Daniel to join us. The more, the merrier!" Charles' words made Alice happy.
Alice actually wanted to have lunch alone with Charles, but she didn't want to rudely send April away.
Having two girls and one guy at lunch would be awkward.
Calling Daniel would make it perfect!
"Hey! Daniel, come join us for lunch at Cultural Confluence Promenade. I'll send you the location!" Charles said as he called Daniel.
"Lunch? Nah!" Daniel refused.
"Why not?"
"It's the middle of the day. Why go there for lunch? It's pricey. Did you ask a girl out?"
"Yeah!" Charles admitted honestly.
"You asked a girl out and still want me to go? Do you want me to feel awkward? I'm not into that kind of self-torture!"
"Are you sure you won't come?"
"I'm sure. I need to study for my grad school exams!" Daniel said firmly.
"Alright then. April, Daniel said he won't come!"
"Wait, Charles, I'm on my way!" Daniel immediately hung up the phone.
