Chapter 074 What's Wrong with a Girl Being Twenty Minutes Late
"Well, Rachel said the event was canceled!" Robert said awkwardly.
"What’s going on? Didn't she just ask you out? Why did she suddenly cancel?"
"Charles isn't going, so all her roommates won't come out!" Robert shrugged and felt a bit helpless.
Watching the girl he liked fall in love with his friend. And there was nothing he could do about it.
Could this be blamed on Charles?
Clearly, Charles never intended to compete with him for Rachel!
Yet, Rachel just liked Charles and is obviously using him as a stepping stone to get closer to Charles.
He had also thought about deleting Rachel. But he couldn't do it!
He felt like he had inexplicably become Rachel's backup option, maybe not even that!
"I get it, Lisa is in her dorm, and Rachel seems to be..." Jesse glanced at Charles, not quite finishing his sentence out of concern for Robert's feelings
"I'm afraid that this fellowship was probably Lisa's idea to reconcile with Charles. If Charles doesn't go, today's event will definitely be lost!" Jesse shook his head.
He seemed to see right through everything.
"Mr. Watson, for the sakes of your brothers' happiness, you should sacrifice a bit. Besides, singing with girls is no loss for you!"
Tom suddenly started calling him Mr. Watson.
"It’s no use! I really have something important to do today!"
Charles waved his hand determinedly, unmoved by their attempt!
"Mr. Watson, are you really so heartless?"
"By the way, what time is your thing this afternoon?"
"Five o'clock!"
"It's only a little after twelve now. You can agree to go first, and after Rachel and her roommates come out, you can leave at four."
With Tom's words, everything suddenly became clear.
Two dates in one day, that's pretty normal.
Some experts said they can handle five or six events a day without any problem!
"Tom's right, it's just a matter of showing up. As long as you get Rachel and her roommates out, your job is done. After that, you can go wherever you want. Mr. Watson, please help us!" Jesse chimed in.
"Alright, but I have to leave by four at the latest!"
Charles thought about it. The Joyful Space Karaoke bar wasn't far from the Grand Hotel, just a twenty-minute cab ride.
The high school reunion was at five in the afternoon.
He had plenty of time!
"OK!"
"Robert, invite them again!"
Without saying more, Robert was already texting Rachel!
"Rachel, Charles has agreed to come out. How about we meet at the school gate later?"
In the girls' dorm, Rachel was holding her phone when she saw Robert's message.
Her previously disinterested look suddenly turned enthusiastic!
"Lisa, Charles has agreed to come out! See, I'm pretty effective, right? Since you couldn't ask Charles out, we went through his roommate. My approach wasn't wrong, was it? Once he comes out, everything will be fine!"
Rachel smiled, looking like she was going to help Lisa set Charles up.
But another roommate, Lily, felt something was off.

Why had Lisa and Rachel's attitudes toward him changed so much?
"Really? Charles has really agreed to come out? Thank you, Rachel. I knew you were the best. To help me win Charles back, you even used your charm to lure Robert. I don't know how to repay you!" Lisa said gratefully.
Although she could sense that Rachel was a bit too enthusiastic about it, she didn't suspect a thing!
After three years of friendship, Rachel couldn't possibly be trying to seduce Charles behind her back, could she?
Around 1:30 PM.
Charles and his three roommates showed up at the school gate.
They waited for a full twenty minutes.
Lisa, Rachel, Lily, and Jane finally arrived.
Charles didn't understand why girls liked to be late!
They had clearly agreed to meet at 1:30.
But they had to be twenty minutes late.
Charles was quite annoyed.
I was not asking you to be early, but at least be on time, right?
It seemd like not being late or being early would make the girls lose face!
"Sorry, Charles, we're late. It took us a while to get made up and changed clothes. Are you mad?" Lisa asked carefully.
It had been a week since they had last seen each other.
She noticed that Charles seemed taller, more muscular, and even more handsome!
Although he still wore cheap clothes, his confidence and sunny demeanor made him look extraordinary!
Lisa's heart was pounding fast!
She found Charles more and more like her ideal Prince Charming.
Not only was he rich, but his looks, body, and temperament were all her ideal type!
She couldn't believe she hadn't realized it before.
And Lisa had even dumped Charles for that jerk Kevin.
"I'm not mad. I'm used to you being late. If you weren't late one day, I'd be surprised!" Charles said coldly.
He seemed unwilling to get involved with Lisa!
"How can you be have such bad manners?. As a man, what's wrong with waiting for a girl? It's only twenty minutes, and you're already impatient? I've never seen such an ungentlemanly man!" Lily scolded him.
She wasn't familiar with Charles and she didn't know his situation!
She only knew that he had been chasing Lisa for three years.
Lisa seemed to have done something wrong to Charles.
But whatever, she was a girl.
She had already apologized, what do you want?
In her view, Charles' behavior was excessive.
And wearing cheap clothes, besides being a bit handsome, he had no other merits!
"Lily, don't be like that. It was our fault for being late. Charles, I apologize on Lily's behalf. She didn't mean it!" Rachel's words left Lily stunned!

The group arrived at the Joyful Space karaoke bar.
Just as they got out of the taxi, a blue Maserati pulled up in front.
Inside was a handsome young man.
"Wow! So handsome! I wonder when my boyfriend will drive such a luxury car. He only has a Mercedes 350!" Lily exclaimed.
It was obvious that she was subtly showing off!
