Chapter 125 Smooth Talker

"Hey, I've noticed you standing here for a while. Can I add you on Facebook? I know it's sudden, but if I don't ask now, I might regret it forever!"

Jessica was waiting for Charles when a tall, handsome guy approached her, asking for her contact info.

Though he seemed shy, his words were smooth. Most girls wouldn't find this annoying. He was a smooth talker.

"Sorry, I'm meeting someone. It's not convenient," Jessica politely declined.

Usually, a guy would leave if rejected, but this one didn't. He got even more sincere.

"Miss, I'm sorry if I'm bothering you. I'm not a bad person. I just want to add you on Facebook and get to know you. If you find me annoying, you can always delete me!"

Jessica hesitated. His words were well-crafted, earnest, and sincere. He knew when to push and when to pull back. The line "you can delete me" was genius, giving her all the control and lowering her guard.

The man's skill was evident. He probably had hit on many girls. Experienced players often acted shy and emotional, but every word was calculated. A real newbie couldn't speak so smoothly.

Just then, Charles walked over and patted the guy on the shoulder. "Bro, she already turned you down. Let me show you how it's done!"

Charles took a more direct approach, saying, "Miss, you're really beautiful. How about we find a quieter place to chat?"

Loren gave Charles a disdainful look. 'With your lousy approach, you look like a thug. You probably don't even have a tenth of my skills. You're just a rookie showing off in front of an expert.'

"Sure!"

To Loren's surprise, the beautiful girl smiled, nodded, and took Charles' arm, walking away shyly.

'What the heck? Do high-score beauties prefer the wild, straightforward type? Doesn't make sense,' Loren thought, puzzled.

Soon, another beautiful girl walked by.

"Miss, you're really beautiful. How about we find a quieter place to chat?" Loren repeated Charles' words to another girl.

She slapped him across the face. "Pervert!"

The slap left Loren stunned. He realized, 'This isn't about approach skills. You guys clearly know each other!'

Charles had no idea someone could be so obsessed with pickup techniques. He might not even be looking for a girlfriend, just enjoying the thrill of hitting on girls. Meeting a dozen girls a day gave him a sense of accomplishment!

Charles and Jessica arrived at the cinema on the fifth floor. He grabbed the movie tickets, two juices, and a big bucket of popcorn, then headed into Theater 5 with Jessica. The movie started soon, but Charles seemed uninterested. He had already watched it once with Daniel, and now it felt boring. No matter how good a movie was, watching it twice in a row wasn't appealing. But he could sit through it to review the plot.

After two hours, the movie finally ended.

"Charles, you didn't seem very into the movie. You checked your phone at least ten times. I thought you'd like this genre!"

"I do like it, maybe I've just got a lot on my mind lately."

"I understand. You have a family business to inherit, so the pressure must be immense. While we ordinary people are carefree, you're already bearing a lot," Jessica said sympathetically.

She thought someone like Charles, who seemed to have it all, must be carrying heavy burdens. He had a $50 billion family business to inherit, played the piano well, and was agile—all results of rigorous training from a young age. In Jessica's opinion, the more talented Charles appeared, the more hardships he must have endured.

She imagined a wealthy heir expected to excel from a young age, with a packed schedule of private lessons, leaving no time for relaxation. Under his carefree exterior, he must have been dealing with things ordinary people couldn't understand, often feeling anxious and uneasy.

"I didn't expect you to understand me!" Charles said, looking as if he had found a soulmate, even though he didn't really know what he was bearing. But if Jessica said he was bearing it, then he was.

He was just thinking, 'Why hasn't Daniel called yet? If you don't call, how can I find an excuse to leave? I have another date with Alice, and it's already 8 PM.'

"Charles, how about we get something to eat? I'm getting hungry," Jessica suggested.

"Okay, sure!"

They went to a nearby restaurant. Just after ordering, Daniel's call finally came through.

"Hello! Daniel, what's up?

"Is it really that serious?

"Okay, I got it!

"Don't worry, I'll be right there!"

Charles took the call, talking for about two to three minutes.

Daniel was puzzled. 'What's going on? Why does this guy's conversation seem a bit illogical?'

After hanging up, Charles apologized to Jessica, "Jessica, I might have to leave now."

"It's okay, if you have something urgent, go ahead!" Jessica was a bit unhappy but understanding. If it were her best friend Sarah in trouble, she wouldn't ignore it either.
