Chapter 13

I woke up earlier than normal I had a bad dream, Bella was there, I can’t remember what happened. The dream had me on edge.
I phoned Luca, told him I’m awake and I’m going for a run.
We decided yesterday that with the Ricci’s being so, was, it brave or stupid? I would need someone with me at all times.
“I’ll be there in a minute boss” Luca said
I went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and put my running clothes on. I found Luca in the foyer of my apartment ready to go.
“Where we going sir?” Luca asked “I want a good run Luca, we’re going to run through Central Park and back” I told him.
“I’ll let the team know sir.” Luca said. He talked to the team and we where on our way. I ran like I was running from something, Luca struggled to keep up and he was fit, that said a lot.
I just couldn’t shake the feeling from my dream. I need to see Bella now and make sure she’s okay otherwise I will not get anything done today. I can’t believe the dream had me so shaken. I stop running and told Luca “We’re running back Luca, I need to go to the coffee shop and see Bella”.
“Sir the coffee shop is not open yet.” He informed me. “Fine lets finish our run then I’m sure it will be open when were done.” I told him irritated.
6:50 I told Luca where running to the coffee shop and I mean run, if Bella’s shifts starts at 7am she has to be at work already. Luca just nodded and we where off.
We arrived at the coffee shop as the manager I think his name is Carl opened the door. I didn’t even greet him.
My first words to him was “Where is Bella?” Carl just looked at me confused. Luca saw I was getting irritated and jumped in.
“Where looking for Rachel” Luca said. “Oo she’s not here yet, she’s probably running late”. Carl said.
“Since she started working here how many times has she been late?” I almost screamed at him
“Chill man” Carl said “She’s probably on her way” I just ignored him and took my phoned and dialled her number. No answer, “fuck”. “It went to voice mail.
Bella phone me.
Carl opened his mouth again “Maybe she’s still on the subway” “And maybe she’s not” I screamed at him thankfully there was no customers yet, not that it would have stopped me. Carl decided to go to the back and start with the coffee’s.
"Luca something is wrong I can feel it. Get Davide to trace her phone." Luca didn’t even try to argue with me he just phoned Davide. “Davide, Rachel is not at work yet, the boss wants you to track her phone” “I’ll get the tech guys on it” Davide told Luca hard enough for me to hear. I took Luca’s phone.
“Davide if I wanted to wait for the tech guys I would have called them! TRACK HER PHONE NOW!” I screamed and ended the call.
Not even 2 min later Davide called Luca. I took Luca’s phone. “Where is she?” “She’s a block away from the coffee shop” Davide said. “Is her phone moving?” “No sir” Davide said. “Lead us to her Davide” I instructed him “Yes sir, go straight towards your apartment building for one block. Luca and I started running while Davide was giving us directions. “Stop boss you passed her” Davide said
“Fuck she’s in the alley way Luca” we started walking into the alley, when I saw a bag then someone lying on the ground curled up. I ran to her.
“LUCA, GO GET THE CAR” I screamed Luca ran and I dropped the phone. And kneeled next to Bella. “Bella Bella wake up Bella, please wake up” I begged her.
I looked at her face and only saw blood her eyes were swollen already, I carefully tried to pick her up, I didn’t want to hurt her more, she needed a hospital asap.
I heard Luca running to me. “Luca get her bag and Cellphone and open the back door” I instructed. Luca parked on the pavement as close to the ally as possible.
I carried Bella to the Escalade, Luca opened the back door, I gave Bella to Luca carefully and got in the car then he gave her back to me. I held her in my arms stroking her hair.
“nearest hospital Luca” “Already on our way boss”. All the way to the hospital, that took way to long for my liking I stroke Bella’s hair and told her everything is going to be okay.
“Luca get the guys on video footage for that area I want to know who did this to her. If it’s the Ricci family I will make them pay with their lives” I told him
“Sir it won’t be the Ricci’s they would have taken her and used her for leverage” Luca said.
“Yes Luca you probably right but who else?” I asked him. “The tech guys are already on it sir, I contacted them when I went to fetch the car”. Luca informed me.
“Good, hold on Bella where almost there.” She stirred in my arms and tried to open her eyes. “There you are Bella” I said softly “You came for me” she half sobbed “Always” I told her and then she lost consciousness again.
“Where here boss, I’ll go and get a gurney” Within a minute Luca was back with a doctor nurse and gurney. They took her carefully from me and put her on the gurney, then it was complete chaos as they rushed her to the emergency room, where she was attached to machines and the doctor was examining every part of her.
The nurse took me by the arm and started to ask me questions.
“What’s her name?, Does she have insurance? What happened? What am I to her? I took her bag from Luca and gave her passport to the nurse then told her Rachel was my fiancée, that will make sure they don’t keep me from her. I told the nurse I’ll pay for everything and that she should get the best care. I also told them Rachel was assaulted in an Alley near 83rd street, on the Upper East side. The nurse informed me they would have to contact the police. I didn’t make a fuss because I knew we will find the bastard before the cops and we will take care of him.
I saw they were moving Rachel. “We’re are they taking her” I asked the nurse “They taking her for x-strays, let me take you to the waiting room. “
Luca and I followed the nurse to a waiting room. And believe me I’m not good with waiting. As soon as the nurse left, I asked Luca “Any news Luca?”
“Yes sir the team got some video footage and it’s not the Ricci family.” Luca said
“It can’t be a random guy Luca” “I’ll ask the team to send the picture to us because nobody recognize him”. Luca said
Ten minutes later Luca’s phone pinged. I went over to him as he opened the image. Both of us said at the same time “CAZZO” as we recognized the fucker from Friday night.
“Find him Luca get everyone to look for that fucker, then you take him to the basement and he can wait for me, I’ll show him what happens to someone that hits women”.
A few minutes later a doctor came into the waiting room “You’re here for Rachel Williams?” He asked “Yes doctor, is she going to be okay? I asked. “Yes, it’s going to take time, two ribs are broken, she has a concussion and then her face is profusely bruised”. The doctor said. “Is that all doctor?” I asked afraid of the answer. “Yes, luckily for her she was not violated. “Thank God, can I go and see her?” “Yes the nurse will take you to her”. The nurse appeared next to the doctor and we were on our way to Rachel’s room.
When we stepped into the room I gasped at what I saw. They cleaned her, so you can see al the damage that fucker did, even Luca was speechless.
“Luca go get me some clean clothes, my laptop and give the orders to the other men, I’m going to stay here until she gets discharges”. “Yes boss” and with that Luca left us alone. I walked to the bed pulled the chair next to her and hold her hand. “I’m here Bella, I’m here, I’m not leaving your side.” I told her.
Luca came back gave me my clothes and laptop and told me they haven’t found him yet.
The police came and I gave them the information of where it happened and about what time, but not the identity of the fucker and they left, they did inform me they will have to interview Rachel when she’s awake.
I got the number of Herman and informed him what happened and that my men will come and collect her clothes because she was staying with me from now on. He wasn’t happy but I didn’t care. I will take care of Bella from now on.
It was late night when Bella stirred “you’re here” she said
“always” I told her.
