Rachel
We ate our sandwiches in silence. When we were done I stood up to take the dishes to the dishwasher.
“Leave it Bella, let’s go lie down”. I didn’t make a fuss I was dead on my feet.
“I’ll bring your painkillers go lie down so long. I went to the room and got into bed, Massimo gave me my painkillers and climb into bed with me.
He carefully pulled my back to his front and kissed my neck. ”Sleep now Bella I’m here”. With those words I drifted of.
I woke up later the afternoon to an empty bed. I thought he will be with me he said as much. When I turned around to make sure he was indeed not with me I heard him
“I’m right here Bella” When I looked up he was sitting in a chair working on his laptop.
“I was just about to wake you up, Detective Smuts will be here in an hour”. He said.
“What should I tell the detective?” “The truth Bella, everything you can remember and tell the detective where it all started”. He encouraged me.
I got of the bed and walked over to him. He grabbed me around my waist and pulled me into his lap. He crushed his mouth to mine devouring my lips as though he was starving and haven’t kissed me in weeks. When we finally came up for air Massimo sighed.
“What’s wrong Massimo?”
“I had a dream about you Monday morning and I had the worst feeling something bad is going to happen to you. I blame myself Bella, if I listened to my instincts and had a man with you nothing would have happened to you, my God you wouldn’t even have been on the train“.
“No Massimo I’m the one that convinced you I didn’t need anyone with me. How where we supposed to know that a random sick guy will attack me.
You were worried about the Ricci’s definitely not about anyone else”.
“I hear you Bella, but I always listen to my instincts and I shouldn’t have let you convince me”.
“What is done is done Massimo we can’t go back now”.
“I won’t make the same mistake twice Bella, from now on Marco will be your bodyguard and driver, when your not in the apartment. Please don’t argue with me about it. As long as that guy is free and the Ricci family is as reckless as they are at the moment I will not take any changes with your safety”.
“I won’t argue with you Massimo, but I don’t have to like it.”
“No Bella, you don’t have to like it but I will not change my mind”
“Can I asked what happen with the Ricci family?”
“They stole from me Bella and if they can be brave enough to do that, they most certainly will come after you to if we give them a change”.
An half hour later the doorman walked the Detective to Massimo’s apartment
“Thank you Harry” Massimo thanked the doorman
“Good day Miss Williams, Mr Marchetti” The detective greeted us.
“Good day detective please come in” Massimo led us to the lounge. “Please have a seat, detective can we offer you something to drink?” Massimo asked.
“No thank you Mr Marchetti. Miss Williams I’m sorry to do this but I need to asked you a few questions”. The detective said
“If it will help you catch the guy you can asked anything”. I told her. Massimo was sitting next to me holding my hand the whole time the detective asked questions.
She asked me if I knew the guy, when was the first time I ever noticed him. We told her about the incident at the club the previous Friday night and that Massimo had him thrown out. I told her that I think that, that was the thing that made him do it. I told her the train number and time I saw him on every day for two weeks and where he normally turned of when he walked behind me. She asked me if they took pictures of all my injuries at the hospital and I insured her that they did. She gave me her number and took mine and after a hour we were done.
“Thank you for your time Miss Williams, Mr Marchetti, I’ll keep you up to date as the case progress.
Miss Williams I see you are very far from home, if I can give you some advice, go for some self defence classes. It will make you feel more empowered and less scared”.
“Thank you detective I will take that advice to heart”.
We said our goodbye’s and she left.
Massimo
As the detective left I could see Bella was tired and scared. I pulled her into my arms “Bella come sit down”
I put her down on the couch and pulled a blanket over her. “Can I make you some tea or coffee?” I asked her
“I would love one of your cappuccinos if you don’t mind” she said shyly
“Anything for you Bella, here’s the TV remote, make yourself comfortable find something to watch. I’ll go make you a cappuccino”.
When I got back to the lounge Bella was channel hopping. I could see something was bothering her. I put her cappuccino in front of her on the table
“Here you go Bella” “Thank you” she said with tears in her eyes
“What’s wrong Bella?” I pulled her into a hug.
“What if they don’t find him Massimo?” she sobbed “Bella look at me, but she didn’t, Bella look at me” I said harder
That got her attention. “My men is also looking for him and we will find him, you don’t have to worry about him, and I think what the detective said about self defence classes is a good idea. When you’re healed Marco can give you some classes, that will make me feel better to”. I told her
My phone started to vibrate in my pants, I took it out and checked the caller ID it was Enzo.
“Bella I need to take this in my office” I stood up kissed her on the forehead and went to my office.
“You got him?” Is all I said
“Yes Boss” Enzo said
“Leave him in the basement, I’ll deal with him tomorrow”. I instructed Enzo
I went back to the lounge to find Bella fast asleep.
“We’ve got him Bella” I whispered more to myself then anyone else. I was so relieved.
