The next morning, I got up and made Bella her latte, some pancakes and beacon. She walked into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around my middle from the back. “Morning Bella, why are you up yet, I wanted to bring you breakfast in bed.” “Morning Massimo, the smell of the beacon woke me up.” “Oh really?” “Yes really. Why are you spoiling me this morning?” “I needed to get you up earlier the doctor is coming for a check up remember?” “No, I totally forgot.” “How do you remember all the shit that is going on with your business and then my appointments?” “I remember what is important to me Bella. And you and the twins are on top of that list.” “Thank you, Massimo.” I gave her a kiss on the forehead then dished up the pancakes and beacon. “This is delicious.” “You only saying that because of the beacon Bella.” “Maybe.” She smiled. “So, what is your plans for the day?” she asked me. “Well, I have a few e-mails to get through and then I’m speaking to Romana and Edcardo about last night. And I need to get an update from Damon about what is going on at Costa.” “Did you hear anything from him after last night?” And here I am, between a rock and a hard place, do I or don’t I tell her about the threat he sent me last night? I decided not to because the doctor was coming and I didn’t want her blood pressure to be too high when she comes. Well, that’s what I told myself for lying to her. “No not a word.” Jeez Massimo if you not going to hell already you are going now. “Maybe he’s afraid.” “Maybe Bella. How are the pancakes?” I changed the subject. “Your pancakes are always the best.” “I’m happy to hear it.” “What time is the Dr coming?” “At 11.” “Then I’ll probable need to get ready.” She got up took her plate to the dishwasher and turned around and looked at me. Did she know I was lying to her. “What’s wrong Bella?” “I know there is a lot on your plate at the moment and this thing with the Costa’s.” “What’s wrong Bella?” “I don’t really have cloths that fit me anymore.” “What about the cloths we bought in Venice.” She just pulled her face. “I need to go shopping, real soon Massimo.” “Can’t you do on line shopping for now?” “I don’t know the size to buy Massimo and besides your taking away the fun of shopping.” “Okay Bella I’ll make a plan okay; I promise I’ll make a plan.” “Thank you, Massimo.” She gave me a kiss and went to the bathroom to get ready for the doctor’s arrival. I on the other hand went to my office and called my stylist, asking her to bring a few sizes of what ever she could find in maternity wear in Rachel’s style for this afternoon. This is the best I will be able to do now. I hope it’s good enough for Bella. Then there was still time left to phone Romana and Edcardo. I told them what happened the previous night and the threat Costa send me. Both of them was extremely shocked in Costa. I told Romana he needs to be ready because Costa will most definitely make contact with him this week I had no doubt about it. Edcardo said he would like to be with when everything went down, he would like to look Costa in the eyes as well before I put a bullet in his head. Edcardo was more upset about Costa’s reaction as Romana it was like he expected that reaction from him. Where Romana and Costa more alike than I realized? Will Romana stab me in the back? That was a question I asked myself over and over. I wasn’t as sure of Romana as I was before. Did I have more problems than I thought. I really hope it was just paranoia that had me doubting everyone. My cellphone rang and I said good bye to Edcardo and Romana. Luca told me the doctor was on her way up.
Bella and I met the doctor in the foyer. “Dr Coolen, how are you today.” Bella asked. “Good thank you but that is a question I should ask you; I see you out of bed.” “I’m not doing anything doctor.” “Let’s check your vitals first before I put my angry coat on.” She smiled at us. Everything looked good the blood pressure was normal then we took a look at the babies, Bella was 21 weeks pregnant we where past the halfway point at least. “They are 26 cm each and weigh 350 gram each.” “Is that normal doctor?” Bella asked “Yes, they are growing at the right pace, your high blood pressure didn’t affect them at all. That is good and what we want.” The doctor said. “And how are you feeling Rachel?” “Much better doctor.” “And the appointment with a therapist?” “That’s on the, to do list for today doctor.” “Good please make sure you make that appointment. Physically you are looking good all vitals are good and thank God your blood pressure is down now.” “Thank you doctor.” “Well then I’m on my way again.” I walked out with the doctor. “Thank you for coming to the apartment Doc.” “No problem Mr. Marchetti.” As she got in the lift my stylist got out with a rail of cloths. “I’m glad to see you are spoiling Rachel Mr. Marchetti.” The doctor said. “Always.” “Come in” I told the stylist “Let me take you to the guest bedroom I didn’t tell my wife you are coming. I must say I didn’t expect you so soon.” “I knew where to get everything I need Mr. Marchetti.” “Thank you.” I took her to one of the guest bedrooms then I went looking for Bella. I found Bella still wiping away the gel the doctor put on her stomach. “Bella, I have a surprise for you.” “Oh, really what can it be?” “Come with me and see.” I put my hand over her eyes. “Why can’t I see where we going?” “It will spoil the surprise.” I walked with her into the guest bedroom and took my hand away from her eyes. “Surprise!”
