Chapter 240
Rachel
I was screaming for someone to help while I was sitting naked on the ground next to Massimo. Luca kicked the door open and ran towards us. I’m sure I saw Marco to but it was only Luca sitting next to Massimo turning him around and checking where the bullet hit him. The next minute I felt something soft coming over my shoulders then Marco helped me up and helped me into the gown. “Is he alive Luca.” “Yes Rachel. Marco get the others.” Marco called all he said was “boss was shot.” The next minute Davide and Aldo ran into the room. “We need to stop the bleeding.” Davide said “How can I help.” “Get all the towels you can get your hands on.” I ran to the bathroom and got all the towels even the wet ones and ran back out. Massimo was opening his eyes. “Is Bella okay.” “I’m right here Massimo.” “Let’s get boss on the table” Davide said. “Rachel put one of the towels under his head.” Some Hotel staff came running in. “What happened?” “Our boss where shot, do you have a doctor.” “Yes, I’ll get him.” The hotel staff member disappeared and Massimo hold his hand out for me. I took his hand. “Please don’t die on me Massimo.” “I won’t Bella.” Enzo came running into the room. “I spoke to Little Nick’s men they are looking for the shooter. I also spoke to Little Nick he said we should shout if we need any help if boss needs an airlift to the hospital his plane is ready.” A man came running into the room I guessed he was the doctor he had a doctor’s briefcase with him. “Make space for me.” Everyone got out of the way. Marco pulled me back. “Rachel maybe you want to get dressed just incase we need to take boss to the hospital.” “Okay” was all I could say. I ran to the bathroom and pulled a pair of jeans on and an oversize jersey. I brushed my teeth and put it in a messy bun. When I came out of the bathroom the doctor said “We need to get him to a hospital.” I heard Enzo making a call “Little Nick he needs a hospital. Thanks. The chopper will be here in 10 minutes.” “Good” the doctor said. “Keep pressure on that wound, his loosing a lot of blood.” We could hear the helicopter approaching. “Boss, can you walk?” “Yes” Luca and Davide helped Massimo to the chopper. “What if the shooter is still out there?” “Don’t worry Rachel he will be gone by now.” We all got into the chopper the doctor as well. He looked out the window, “This is not the way to the hospital.” I have my orders the pilot said. Not even 5 minutes later we landed on private property. There was a lot of men walking the premises and when the choppers doors open there was two men with a hospital bed, pushing Massimo towards the house. One of the men told the doctor, “You can go back to the Hotel. We’ve got it from here.” The doctor looked confused but didn’t argue. I ran with Massimo into a house and then we where in a sterile room it looked like a theater. A doctor came walking to us I’m Little Nick’s private surgeon. I’ll look after him I promise.” Then Massimo was pushed into another room. I started to cry. Marco was trying to tell me everything was going to be okay but I didn’t want to believe him. I just cried and cried. Then there was a man standing in front of me, Enzo came over, “Rachel this is Little Nick our host and the person that send the helicopter.” I got up and shook his hand. “Thank you so much, really thank you.” “It’s my pleasure Mrs. Marchetti.” “Rachel please.” “Okay then Rachel let your body guard take you inside and get you something strong to drink.” Then I cried even harder “I can’t I’m pregnant.” “Congratulations. Can her bodyguard please get her something to calm down.” “Yes sir” Marco said. “Come Rachel let’s go find the kitchen.” Marco took my hand and walked me to a huge kitchen there was someone working in the kitchen. I heard Marco asked her for sugar and water. He explained to her I was pregnant and sugar water was the only thing that calmed me down. Within seconds I had my glass of sugar water. I downed the whole glass. “Take me back Marco.” “Mam, don’t you want some coffee and wait in the living room?” “No thank you I want to be with my husband.” She gave me a bottle of water. “Then please take this with you.”
Massimo
I woke up in a sterile room with a doctor standing over me. “Mr. Marchetti welcome back. The bullet didn’t do any serious harm you just lost a lot of blood and won’t be able to use the arm for at least 3 weeks.” “Is my wife, okay?” “Yes Mr. Marchetti she’s waiting for you outside.” “Can you bring her in please?” “Little Nick wants a word first.” “Okay thank you, I take it we are in his house.” “That you are Massimo.” “Everything was quiet until you came to fix everything Massimo.” “I don’t know how to thank you or how to apologized for everything Nick.” “No apologize necessary Massimo, we just need to get tomorrow out of the way and preferable keep you alive till then. I think you and your wife and men should stay here tonight my place is much safer than the Hotel.” “We can’t impose like that.” “I’m not asking Massimo I’m ordering.” “Thank you, Nick.” “I’ll send your wife in and send the men back to get your stuff.” “Thank you, Nick.” He walked out without saying anything the next minute Bella came running into the room with Marco behind her. He looked relieved to see me awake. Me to buddy me to. Bella almost fell on top of me. “Slowly Bella.” “Thank God you alive. You are not aloud to scare me like that again.” “I’m sorry Bella.” “I’m just glad you are okay. When is it safe for you to travel back to the Hotel?” “Little Nick said his place is safer, so we are staying here for the night.” “And after tomorrow’s meeting we flying out of Sicily, right?” “Yes Bella. We’ll leave as soon as the meeting is done.” “Thank God. This is the most beautiful place but bad shit keeps on happening here, I think I want to go home.” “No Bella there is still a lot I want to show you of my home town, give it a chance. Everything that is happening now is because of tomorrow’s meeting.” “Okay I’ll see how I feel when we are on the plane and away from here.” “Thank you, Bella.”
