We walked to my office when I opened the door, Adri whistle. “Nice office sis. Do you work for him?” “Yes, I do, you know me I need to make my own money.” “Yes, but you do know it’s still his money you taking right?” “Yes Adri I know that, but this time this marriage will work. He does everything for me Adri, everything.” “You sure you ready for this lifestyle?” “Yes Adri, I’m more than ready and I know what it entails, don’t worry about me. I’m happier than I’ve ever been and I’m pregnant after my last miscarriage I’ve never thought I’ll get pregnant Adri, now I’m pregnant with twins. How can you not see how happy I am?” “I’m just making sure Rachel.” “You can leave New York with the knowledge that your sister was never as happy as she is now.” “I’m very happy to hear that, Rachel.” “Thank you, Adri, now let’s get this behind us shell we?” I dialled my parent’s number when my moms voice came over the phone. I put the phone on speaker, “Hi mom” “Oh my dear, Rachel, did your brother found you?” “Yes, mom his here with me.” “Hi mom” “Hi Adri, let me get your father on the line as well.” We could hear my mom calling my dad. “Hi my girl” “Hi dad, Adri is with me.” “Hi son.” “Hi dad.” “I take it you found Rachel and Henry?” my dad asked. “He knew where I was dad and no, he just came to me.” “Why where is Henry, he said you are pregnant and he’ll forgive you and bring you back.” “Dad, I need you and mom to listen to me before you speak again, please.” “Okay” “I ran away from Henry because he abused me, I divorced him because one night he abused me so badly I lost a baby.” “Oh my God” my mom said. “Although we were divorced he found ways to get to me and the abused didn’t stop, that’s why I asked Adri to help me get out of Cape Town.” “Darling you can come back we will protect you.” “No mom he will always find a way to hurt me. I’ve met someone here my first week I was here and things just got better. We actually expecting twins and don’t freak out.” I gave them a minute before I went on. “We got married New Years eve, it was a small wedding and we will have a big wedding after the twins are born where we will invite everyone. I promise.” “Jeez Rachel that was a lot to take in.” my mom said. “Well mom I was sure you knew about the abuse.” “I suspected I never knew for sure.” “And you never told me“ My dad said. “I didn’t want to get involve” My mom said. I could hear my dad was very angry. “Where is he?” My dad asked. “If he gets back, I’ll kill him.” He’s already dead I thought while looking at my brother. “I don’t think his coming back dad.” “What do you mean, he surely can’t think he’ll get your sister back now that she’s married.” “No dad he met a woman, apparently she’s very rich, I don’t think he will let her slip through his fingers.” “Might be better for him if I don’t set eyes on him again.” “Tell us about your husband Rachel?” my mom asked. My brother chipped in before I could say anything “He’s rich mom like rich rich, Rachel has her own bodyguard.” “Oh my. Is that true Rachel?” “Which part?” “Both?” “Yes mom, his Italian, his name is Massimo and yes he’s rich and yes I have a bodyguard.” “Goodness Rachel.” “Does he treat you right?” my dad asked. “Yes dad, he carries me on his hands.” “That’s good.” “Now son when are you coming home?” “I’m going to stay the week, catch up with Rachel and Herman and then I’ll come back.” “Good and if you see that mother fucker again while you there, please give him a piece of my fist.” “Okay dad” “Anything else you want to know mom, dad?” “Are you happy Rachel?” “I’ve never been this happy in my life mom.” “Then that’s all we could asked for and maybe to meet him and our grandbabies someday.” “Well make a plan mom” “Then guys I’m sure this call is costing you a lot.” “Mom the guy is loaded.” My brother said. “No need to waste his money Adri.” “Fine mom” “Good bye guys” “Bye mom, dad.”
“That was easier than expected” I told my brother. “Yes, it was and now we don’t have to talk about Henry ever again. I just need to say one thing then we forget about his existence.” “Fine” “I’m sorry Rachel, I was so wrapped up in my own drama I didn’t see how much you were struggling.” “I put up a show Adri, I didn’t want you guys to see.” “I’m still sorry Rachel.” He gave me a hug. That’s when we heard Massimo and Herman coming back. “Rachel we’re back.” We walked out of my office straight into Marco. “You okay Rachel?” “I’m good Marco.” “You sure?” “I promise.” My brother looked at Marco, “I’m sorry I behaved badly Marco, it was just a shock seeing my sister like this. I will never hurt her.” “Okay” was all Marco, said before he walked out of the penthouse. “It’s clear your bodyguard doesn’t like me at all.” “You’ll have to find a way to get along with him, his my sidekick.” “I can see that. Oh my God something smells delicious.” “That will be Massimo’s mom’s food” When we walked into the dinning room Sally was standing next to Herman. “Hi Sally” I walked over and gave her a hug. “Your face.” “I’m okay, Herman will fill you in later.” “I thought we’ll make it a proper dinner.” Massimo said. “Yes, on our way to the restaurant Massimo said we should pick Sally up for dinner.” Herman said “Thank you love” “I knew it will make you happy sweetheart. Everything sorted with your parents?” “Yes, we don’t have to worry anymore, my mom can’t wait to meet you and off course the babies.” “You pregnant?” Sally almost screamed. “Yes I am.” “And it’s twins?” “Yes, a boy and a girl.” “Oh, wow guys congrats.” “Thank you Sally.” Massimo went to the kitchen to get the plates. I followed him. “Thank you for this Massimo, I know my brother didn’t make a good first impression.” “I’m sure I would have acted the same Bella, don’t worry about that.” “Thank you for bringing Sally too for making her part of this.” “It’s family sweetheart.” “You are really the best Massimo” I grabbed some sodas. Then Massimo kissed me before we went to our guests. “Come on love birds, the smell of the food is making me hungry.” My brother said. “Hold your horses here we are.” We sat around the dining room table everyone with some pasta and a soda. I looked at everyone and realised, my heart is full. It doesn’t matter what happened to me to get here, I’m here and I’m happy.
