I was worrying about my surprise that I organized for Monday, since yesterday when Bella didn’t feel good and had contractions the whole day. I realized that anything could happen at any time so it would be easier to tell Bella about the surprise and get her thoughts. I was anxious to tell her maybe she didn’t want a maternity shoot but I do think all women do want it. When we were in the restaurant, I was starting to feel nervous to tell her I was waiting for the right time the whole day. “What’s wrong Massimo.” Cleary, she felt the tension in me. She knew me very well and I her. “I have a surprise for you?” “You not normally so tense about a surprise what on earth can it be that would make you so nervous?” The waiter interrupted us I ordered Bella a diet Coke and a Stella Artois for me. I don’t normally drink beer but I wasn’t in the mood for a cocktail. “Okay I’m listening?” Bella said “I’ve booked us a maternity shoot for Monday Bella and a spa morning for you.” “Why on earth would you be nervous to tell me that?” “I realized yesterday that anything can happen and maybe you not feeling good on Monday then we have to cancel. I just wanted you to know and maybe you don’t even want something like that.” She leaned over and took my hand “You are the sweetest man; off course I want a maternity shoot but I haven’t thought of it yet and a spa morning are you kidding me that is every woman’s dream.” “So, you not mad or upset?” “Not at all let’s just hope I’m feeling okay on Monday.” “That’s what made me nervous.” “Don’t worry Massimo we will go through with it no matter what.” “Okay Bella. Just if you are sure I don’t want you to look at the photos and think in how much pain you where the whole day that was taken.” That’s when the waiter came with our drinks. “I won’t I told you every pain will be worth it when we hold them in our arms so don’t worry about it. I can’t believe you were so nervous.” “Yesterday just caught me off guard.” I admitted to her “I understand Massimo but that’s what the last few weeks are going to be like.” “Can I say I’m not a fan? I like control too much.” “Yes, I know you like control Massimo but this is out of our hands and I’m not a fan either. You still thinking of keeping me pregnant?” “No, I think we should first get through this one before I start to think about getting you pregnant again. You do want more children Bella?” I know that was more like a statement than a question but we haven’t talked about more children after these 2 are born. “Let’s see how the delivery go first.” “But are you open for more?” “Yes, Massimo I’m open for more but right know right here the answer is going to me no. But I’m sure I’ll change my mind later it’s just a lot at the moment.” “I know sweetheart I’m sorry if you think I’m pressuring you I know I’m not the one that carries them.” “It’s fine Massimo I know you want a big family.” “We’ll talk about it later when these to rascals are born.” “We can talk about anything when these two are born. We just have to keep them in me at least another week.” “I’m in full agreement with that.” My phone went of in my jacket and out of pure habit I took it out and looked at it. Fuck it was Frank. But I didn’t open the message I just put it back in my pocket. “Something important?” “No, it can wait.” The waiter came back to take our lunch order Bella was having the Spicy Duck Noodle bowl and I ordered a Prime Flatiron Steak for me. While we waited for our lunch, I was dying to open Frank’s message but I promised Bella so I tried to stay present. “Did you do a lot of work while we are away?” she asked me “I got a few things done.” “I can imagine because I sleep half the day.” “I’m not complaining Bella.” “You just a good man that’s all.” “Not al all you are carrying my babies and I’ll do anything to keep you and them happy and like you said inside you for another week. If it means you have to sleep the whole day everyday then I’ll insist on it.” “Oh, really you’ll insist on it?” “Yes, Bella I would.” When our food came, we both got quiet and ate. “I really like the shoes we got the twins.” Bella said “Me to especially the pink and blue one’s.” I stop for a minute then said “Bella, I need us to make a promise to each other.” “Yes, anything Massimo.” “I need us to promise each other we will always make time for us; we have Francesca and if we have to, we can get an au pair as well but we need to put our relationship first. A solid relationship brings a solid home and the children will be happy in a solid home where they can see their parents love each other and respects each other.” “I’ll make sure we always make time for each other Massimo. I don’t want to lose what we have I don’t want life to take away what we have. The alone time the play time. I still want all that.” “That makes me very happy to hear Bella.” After lunch we got up, I paid the bill and we walked to the SUV I know the coffee shop Bella was kidnapped at was just a few meters away but there was no reaction from Bella she didn’t even look in that direction which was really a big relieve I was very worried about that. We got in the SUV and clearly Luca was also worried about that fact because he made a U-turn so we didn’t have to drive past the coffee shop. When we got home Bella wanted to show Francesca the shoes we bought. I stood with her while the 2 women faffed about the shoes but what I really wanted to do was go to my office and open Frank’s message. After a lot of ooooh’s and aaah’s Bella said she was tired and are going to bed. I walked her to the room kissed her on the forehead and walked down the stairs but I couldn’t wait until I was in the office I opened the message as I walked all it said was “We have a problem.” Fuck
