The next morning, I woke up and saw Massimo sleeping peacefully in the recliner next to me. I felt rested and happy that I was alive and my babies was okay. I hoped I would be able to go home today. Marco and Luca popped their heads into the room. I showed them they could enter but to be quiet because Massimo was sleeping. “We so glad you okay Rachel.” Marco said. “And I’m happy you guys are okay, I heard you discharged yourselves out of the hospital?” “Off course we did, they took you on our watch.” Marco said. “Marco if it wasn’t for me being a brat that morning nothing would have happened in fact, I owe you two and Ghost and Brad a apology.” “No Rachel you don’t it’s our job to keep you safe.” Marco said. “Jeez can everyone stop apologizing everyone is safe and sound it was no one’s fault.” Massimo said stretching himself out. “Morning sweetheart.” “Morning Massimo.” “Slept well sweetheart.” “Yes, Massimo like a baby and you?” Better that the past 3 nights. Did you two bring our breakfast, I could eat right about now.” “Yes boss.” Marco started to unpack the containers with eggs, beacon, pancakes and syrup. “It looks delicious, thank you guys.” Marco pulled a hazelnut ice coffee out from behind his back. “And we didn’t forget the most important thing.” “Ah thank you Marco.” “Our pleasure Rachel.” Massimo and I started to eat. Real food it tasted so good. Dr Coolen our OBGYN walked into the room. “It smells like beacon in here.” “That it does doc” Massimo said “We need this girl fed.” “I do agree Mr Marchetti. How are you feeling today, Rachel?” “Much better than yesterday doctor.” “She had two nightmares where her heartbeat went through the roof. The first time they didn’t give her something but the second time they gave her a sedative.” Massimo explained. “Is it safe for the babies?” I asked. “It is safer than your heartbeat going through the roof Rachel.” “I also forgot to tell you yesterday, they drugged me when they took me. Will the babies be, okay?” “There was nothing in your system when we did a drug test, so I’m sure it didn’t hurt the babies. Let me just check on you and them again. I’m sure you being discharged today.” “Great.” Luca and Marco left the room. A nurse brought in the sonar machine again. The doctor looked at my chart then she put that cold gel on my belly and looked at our babies, we could still hear their heartbeats that was so strong. “I’m very happy with your vitals and the babies, you need to keep hydrating and I would like to see you in a week.” “Thank you doctor” Then she left. “Sweetheart if you want to go shower Luca did bring you cloths.” “That would be awesome thank you Massimo.” I took my cloths and toiletries and walked to the on-suit. I open the shower and got in. I washed away the stickiness off that room, the blood that was still stuck to my legs, then I washed my face and felt all the bruises. “You’ll get through this Rachel, you always do” I told myself. I got out of the shower dried myself and but my soft lounge wear on. I felt like a new person. When I walked back into the room the doctor also walked in. “Mrs Marchetti it looks like you ready to go home.” “Yes, doctor I am.” “Come sit let me take a look at you, I heard the OBGYN is happy now you just need to impress me.” He laughed I saw at the corner of my eye Massimo lurking at the doctor, he obviously didn’t think the doctor was funny. He checked my chart, then my blood pressure he shined a light into my eye. I half moved away from the light. “Your head still sore?” “Yes doctor” “Unfortunately I can only give you paracetamol because of the pregnancy, but try to stay in a dark room for at least two days, I’m positive it will settle. Then Mrs Marchetti you can go home.” “Thank you doctor.” I said “Yes Thank you doctor” Massimo said.

When Bella came out of the bathroom, she looked like a new woman except for her blue eyes and the redness in her eyes, you could see she was feeling better. The doctor came in and examined her and made a joke which I didn’t find funny. The best words that came out of his mouth was the fact that she could go home. When the doctor left it was the fastest, I got everything ready to go home. “You ready sweetheart.” “Yes, please I need our own bed.” “I agree Bella, I slept better that the past three nights because I knew you were safe but I’m not rested yet. We walked out of the hospital and Luca brought the car around. Bella put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep on our way back to the apartment. When we stopped at the apartment, I woke her up, at least this time she did got a fright. “Were home sweetheart. Should I carry you?” “No, I’m good Massimo.” Marco opened her door for her and she was unsteady on her feet but Marco caught her before she fell. “What was that?” I asked her “Probable my blood sugar I haven’t had sweets in a while.” “Then we’ll have to rectify the situation.” I teased her. I held her as we walked to the elevator, when we got to the front door, I bend an picked her up. “What you doing Massimo?” “Carrying my wife over the threshold.” We both laughed. “So much happened I forgot we are newlyweds.” “I should remind you then.” She immediately pulled away from me. “Shh sweetheart when you ready.” “Sorry Massimo.” No need to be sorry Bella. Can I get you something sweet to eat?” Yes, if you bring it to the room because I’m getting back into bed know.” “No problem sweetheart.” I got Bella some gummies which she loved and walk to the bedroom. Bella was busy closing all the curtains and made it as dark as possible in the room. She got rid of her shoes and got into bed. “Here sweetheart.” “Thank you, Massimo.” I got undress and left my boxers on then got in bed with her. I pulled her to me. “Sleep sweetheart I’m right here.” Then we both fell asleep.
