Chapter 57
Massimo
I woke up at 5am Monday morning. I can’t believe it’s Monday already. This was the first weekend in my adult life that I didn’t work. I thought back at the relaxing weekend I had with my Bella.
We slept late on Saturday, then we made some breakfast, well breakfast for me on a Saturday is a pastry and cappuccino. Bella will have the pastry but with a latte. She joked with me that she will have to run more every day with all the carbs we were eating and I told her that’s the reason I run every day. We finished our breakfast then we went for a stroll through the streets of New York on our way to Central Park Bella saw a very cute boutique she wanted to go shop at, but first we went to Central Park. We walked through Central Park and talked about how different the seasons are from South Africa. Bella said in South Africa there is two seasons winter and summer you didn’t really see the difference except in the wine lands. In New York, or Central Park specifically you could see it’s becoming fall with the change of the colour of the leaves. We got a hot dog from a vendor and sat on the grass eating our hot dogs and watching the people around us. Luca and Marco were never far behind us always keeping an eye on us. While we were sitting on the grass, I thought it was a good time to bring up the trip I organized for Herman and Sally. ‘Bella, I want to send Herman and Sally on a trip to Hawaii to thank them for looking after you the first few weeks.’ I told her. She said it wasn’t necessary but it would be a very nice gesture. I told her the only problem is that it will be the coming week. She immediately phoned Herman and told him. Herman was taken a back with the gesture and a bit reluctant but told us they will make a plan to be able to leave on Tuesday. That all was great news for me. Then they will be out of harm’s way when Bella’s ex arrives in town.

I was lying awake thinking about the most wonderful relaxing weekend I had in a long time. Not even the Hamptons was this relaxing and best of all I had all Massimo’s attention. I was surprise by the gesture of sending Herman and Sally on a trip but deep down I was so happy about it to. They gave me shelter when I needed it and I would never be able to repay them. It took a lot of convincing for Herman to say yes, but at least he did. When we walked back to the apartment I dragged Massimo into the small boutique I saw on our way to Central Park. There was so many nice pant suits and skirts and don’t get me started on their shoes. I always wanted a pair of the shoes Jennifer Aniston wore in ‘Just go with it’ and this boutique had them in different colours. When I saw the prices, I told Massimo we should rather leave. He told me he will buy me anything I wanted, but I didn’t want to do that. ‘Sweetheart it’s only money whatever you want I’ll buy it.” I settled on a white pant suit and a black pant suit and two pair of the shoes. I was so excited. I thought I’ll wear the black pant suit to work tomorrow with my new shoes. We walked back to the apartment with my bags of shopping. I kissed Massimo as we got into the lift. ‘Thanks Massimo, you spoil me.’ He looked at me and said ‘I’ll buy you the world if that is what you want.’ ‘Thank you Massimo, but your time is more than enough.’ We spend the rest of the night in front of the TV and to both our surprise Massimo actually watched TV with me. We watch the Bachelor and I told him how it worked. We made comments on the dates and the girls and which one we thought would win. It was really a very nice Saturday.
Sunday, we got up late again, we got dressed and went to Massimo’s parents house for lunch. It was more like meet the parents but properly this time. I helped Rossa in the kitchen and we talked about everything, how Massimo was as I child a teenager, the girlfriends he had. That part I was most interested in. Unfortunately, there was no girlfriends that Rossa new of in his adult life, that was a bit disappointing. She asked me about my life as a child and adult but I tried to stay clear of all the negative things that happened in my life. Massimo and his father were talking about the restaurant when we walked into the living room. Massimo told them I was starting to work on Monday and they will see much more of me. When it was lunch time, we brought the food out to the dining room and we all sat together and ate. It was so nice and homey. When we left Rossa said we should do this more often and I agreed with her. When we got back to the apartment Massimo excused himself to catch up on some emails and I was too happy to get everything ready for the next day. I got the bath tub full of water, lighted the candles and just laid in the bath for a while. So many things happened in the past few weeks I thought to myself I did my skin routine and then got my clothes ready for the next day.
“You awake sweetheart” Massimo asked me. “Yes, morning Massimo.” “What where you thinking about?” he asked me “Just about the wonderful weekend we had.” “I was thinking the same.” He said I turned around and kissed him.
“You ready for your first day” he asked
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Then he kissed me again.
